    Level 42

by dbokster on 8/2/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Awesome event! Mark King shows that he still has the chops, the younger generation needs to learn about this band's music. If they come back next year, my kids will be coming too!

Level 42 has still got it!!

by PeacefulPiscean on 8/2/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

What an enjoyable evening walking through memory lane and enjoying the music from yesteryear! The bass solo was AMAZING, and the overall concert was mesmerizing and entertaining. Even though they did not play "Children Say", I truly enjoyed myself. It's good to see that Level 42 has still got it!!

by LewBabes on 8/2/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Level 42 was worth the wait. They sounded like a full piece orchestra. WOW ! They sounded amazing and the way Mark played the bass we were spoiled. Best show of the year so far.

Was a great concert, they still can really rock! Great venue, not too big. The band members were really accomodating about signing autographs too.

by quiksilver67 on 8/2/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

The band and the venue were great! I had no idea that my tickets were in the second row. And the sound system in Club Nokia is just amazing. Even after all these years, these guys can rock the house! I wil definitely go see them when they return next year.

The group is a awesome as they ever was. I just wish that they had played some of their post 1986 music. However, I can definitely understand playing the things that most people would remember (or know) in order to get the best response from the audience.

    Finally Level 42

by FunkyStuff on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

So, we all waited 25 years for Level 42 to come back to the states. Was it worth the wait ... absolutely. No surprises. Wish the show were longer with more stuff. But those in attendance knew what we wanted and knew what we were going to get given the extensive live catalog of Level 42 music. Mark, Mike & Co. delivered and stuck around for handshakes afterwards. Nice touch. If they come back, I'll be back.

    I love Level 42!

by Girlin204 on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

The sound and lighting were beautiful at this venue. I only wish the seats were planned out better. I was sitting/standing behind someone taller than me. If the seats were set up "window pane" style, it might have made for a better viewing experience. Or, even better, if there were no seats at all and it was general admission. I wanted to be closer and have more of a party vibe. Level 42 was astounding as usual. I'm so glad they were back in the States after 23 years. This is the 3rd concert on this tour that I attended. I can't wait for next year. The one thing I did not like at this venue, Club Nokia, in particular was the "VIP lounge" we were all invited to after the show. We were kicked out of the main floor and only allowed there if we wanted to hang out and meet the band. The band did come out but were quarantined in an area guarded by security and the band had to stand up on a ledge to talk with fans. It was set up like a "Hollywood" type club with laser lights and a loud DJ. It didn't make for an easy meet-and-greet. Not the band's fault at all. They are always so gracious and easy to talk to, as evidenced at the last two shows I attended. I would almost rather have had the band play a longer show, than have gone to the Lounge afterward.

    Level 42 still fabulous!

by MlleSoleil on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

What a fun show! The band played a lot of stuff we remembered and loved and some songs we hadn't heard before. The crowd was really into it as well. I would've given it 5 stars but the show was too short. Loved it though!

    Through the roof!

by ZipEmUp on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Absolutely stellar! NO ONE can groove like these guys -- they have their own patented groove, completely unique. Add in their jazz and rock sensibilities, virtuosic instrument capabilities, up to four part vocal harmonies, just mind-blowing! I wish I could go see them again tonight. The only negative I have is that their catalog of songs is so deep that they didn't play a couple of my favorites that I wish they'd done. They put so much passion and emotion into this show -- I'm SO glad they were able to make this tour happen. They've been gone a LONG time, but said they'd do their best to come back next year -- they'd better! I know a LOT of people that are really sorry they missed this show.

    Level 42

by Anonymous on 8/1/10The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

The band were excellent. Mark King didn't make a mistake once even though he was on form with his usual blistering base playing. Great to hear all the old favorites and see that the musicians still really enjoy what they do. The drummer, clearly much younger than the rest was a very accomplished player although I don't remember his name at the moment. The venue was OK, not the best, a bit too warm on the balcony even with the huge noisy fan unit and of course the alcohol was poor and way too expensive. BTW. don't buy tickets on the left and right balconies, the view is too obstructed by the balcony front barrier. The end balcony seats facing the stage are WAY better.

Level 42 Sounded as Good as Ever

by BigBruin on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Never been to Nokia Club and really liked the set up, casual lots of space but still felt close up from any spot. I was not expecting much from the performance but I was extremely pleased with how good Level 42 sounded and the intensity of the performance. Wish they could've played longer - in fact I may see them agin this week at another local venue.

    Level 42 at Club Nokia

by andyv on 8/1/10Club Nokia - Los Angeles

It has been a long time coming to see Level 42 "live" in Los Angeles. The last time they played in LA was back in the early 80's so there were many eager ole time fans who had waited many years for this evening. And it was everything we could have hoped for. Mark King's vocals and bass prowess were spot on and as amazing as could be expected. The band's playing and their harmonies were tight and they looked as if it was great to be back on the road together again. They brought out most of their hits from the past and threw in a few cult classics. Overall it was worth the 20 plus year wait. The only thing I could have hoped for was "more of them." The hour and a half set was just enough to get us to salivate and left us wanting more. They mentioned that they will be back next year so I'm already starting to save for another taste and the return of Level 42!

I had waited 30 (not my choice) years to see them. It was worth the wait as Mark and the gang were incredible! They showed last night how it should be done. The crowd was great as was the staff at Club Nokia. I had heard horror stories about them, but found everyone to be pretty laid back. A buddy of mine overheard a woman say to her date that she had never heard someone play bass and sing at the same time. He said, "What about Sting?" "Nope, not the same." "Well, what about Paul McCartney?" "Nope. There isn't anyone who can play (and sing) like that." I think there were may people who walked in to listen to "Something About You" and walked out Level 42 fans forever. Nicely done mates!!
