LESS THAN JAKE IN CONCERT:

There are those who say that ska is dead, and then there are those who have been to a Less Than Jake show recently. The ska punk favorites prove the genre is alive and kicking every time they take the stage, flooring fans with high-octane performances of their melodic, brass-heavy tunes. From the charging drums and distorted guitars of "She's Gonna Break Soon" to the horn-filled chorus of "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads", Less Than Jake deliver a skank-worthy concert experience that's sure to satisfy diehard fans and newbies alike.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Less Than Jake formed in Gainesville, FL in 1992 and quickly built a local following with their fast-paced live shows and early seven-inch singles. They released their debut album Pezcore in 1995, then signed with Capitol Records the following year for their sophomore album Losing Streak. The record charted in the UK and was an underground hit in the US, leading to shows with Guttermouth and The Descendents as well as a stint on the 1997 Vans Warped Tour. The band's success continued in 1998 with their third album Hello Rockview, which scored them a Top 40 hit on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart with the song "History of a Boring Town". Since then the band has released five more acclaimed albums including 2003's wildly popular Anthem, which they supported on tour with Fall Out Boy and another stretch on the Vans Warped Tour. In 2013 the band released their eighth album See the Light, a stellar collection of upbeat ska punk tunes that has ticket buyers eagerly awaiting their upcoming tour dates, looking for a repeat of venues sold out to capacity, like House of Blues (San Diego), from the band's previous run.

    LTJ @ St. Andrews Hall

    by Patrick Apel on 7/12/23

I love the band and I love the venue! I've seen Less Than Jake well over 25 times in the last 25 years I've been listening, and they still bring it every time! They play often and at affordable prices and offer ton of different merch. Even the sad songs sound fast and upbeat lol! St. Andrews is a smaller venue but there isn't a bad seat in the house. The place is clean and the staff is awesome, especially security keeping everyone safe with crowdsurfers and getting hot. It's one of the iconic Detroit venues that a ton of bands have played at.

    VIP communication not great

    by LouisvilleLaura on 7/10/23

My experience with the band was great. The venue was clean, felt safe, staff were friendly & pleasant. It was nice and cool inside, which is great because I've been in many that are just too hot. The organization and execution of the VIP event beforehand was lacking. Especially because fans pay extra to participate but to be frank, the communication sucked. I would have missed the entire VIP portion (I missed an acoustic set), if another VIP hadn't walked out of the venue with merch. Apparently, an email was sent (just a couple hours before) that the time had been changed. I'd be willing accept it as my fault if the sender or subject matched ANYTHING that had been sent previously. It didn't mention the venue name, Ticket Master, or the band name. Wasn't sent by the same sender of anything else I have previously received regarding this event. How was I suppose to even find this email from a random sender? I'm not sure. I'm glad I got lucky this time & still got to meet the band and disappointed I missed the acoustic set.

    by Dkewlguy on 7/9/23

Always one of my favorite bands to see live. The played their best record all the way through for this tour. I had such a great time and it was my first time at the venue! Really nice interior of the venue. The only real good sound is on the floor though.

    ENERGY

by Sarge on 12/11/22Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - Boston

Great show on Thursday at Paradise. All three bands were cooking. Keep Flying blew the doors off as the opener: I had to stop and tell myself "it's 7:30 and they are playing as if its 11:30 and the crowd is right with them" Less than Jake was tight, funny, and really cranked out a great set. I love the way they pull the crowd in with looks, smiles, and call-outs.

    Always an epic time!

    by J. U. on 12/7/22Reverb - Reading

Less than Jake is always amazing! The music, the energy, the music, the crowd surfing, the music, the moshing…and of course, the music. Keep flying was incredible! Cliffdiver is absolutely crazy! The saddest part was looking at the stage and seeing 30 YEARS!!! 30 YEARS?!?! I might be doing it, but good music never gets old…

    Less Than Jake

by John on 9/7/22The Belasco - Los Angeles

I recently saw LTJ in Anaheim and Los Angeles. It has been about 3 years since I last saw them live. They played songs from their entire catalog. They continue to put out great music and excel at their live shows. LTJ is as awesome live today as they were the first time I saw them in the mid 90's.

Unfortunately this was not an inclusive event…

by WaffleTuesday on 9/5/22House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

The show was awesome and venue was comfortable up until Less Than Jake played. Less Than Jake encouraged an already sloppy mosh pit (me and my boyfriend know from experience that this mosh pit was becoming unfriendly) to increase its parameters. So the crowd continued to shove other people that were outside the mosh pit in this wide circle and me and several other people were almost knocked over. Worst yet, I remember seeing a few kids come into this venue and me and my boyfriend were basically at the end of the crowd near the bar… which gives you an idea of how bad the mosh pit was trying to spread. We had to leave right away because we did not feel safe. Boo on Less Than Jake for not encouraging a fun and SAFE show. Mosh pits are cool up until you’re forced into one.

    by Skaluv on 8/7/22Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

All the bands were fun but I was a huge fan of Less than Jake in high school but was never able to see them live. I am 41 now, and they did not disappoint. Very fun, interactive, and sounded great live.
