Award-winning actor and singer, John Waters, takes the stage with accompanist Bill Risby and begins to perform—part spoken word, part concert, and all heart, a celebration of one of the most distinctive voices of his generation: John Lennon. Featuring a catalogue of Lennon’s greatest songs including Woman, Jealous Guy, and Imagine, as well as his collaborations with Paul McCartney including, A Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, this intimate production reveals the essence of the life and times of one of the most admired icons of all time.

Unflattering portrayal of John Lennon. Waters voice is painful to listen to. Not what I expected.
The actor portraying Lennon looks nothing like him except for the stance, but his voice and manner were eerrily accurate, and no one minded that there wasn't a physical resemblance. This was an homage to John Lennon, a retelling of his story through words and music from the late 1960's through to his death in 1981. Accompanied only by a fantastic pianist who also harmonized on occasion, it was intimate and engaging. We loved it!
Simple but introspective. I love John Lennon and really enjoyed this show. I recommend it for all the Lennon fans out there.
I love the Beatles. When I saw that there was a play about John Lennon, I rushed to get tickets. The play was pretty bad. Unfortunately, the singer that played John Lennon did not have a great voice. With so many singers to choose from, I have no idea why they chose this person.
I see many Broadway and off Broadway plays, so I thought I'd see this one. It was very enjoyable, and an interesting take on sharing Lennon's life. The theater is small, so there are no bad seats in the house. I would definitely recommend going to see it for yourself.
Didn't know many of the songs. Singer was good,I a nits was great! Songs we knew were pretty good though.
I saw two old persons who enjoyed their play, spending 80 from my pocket. It is charity,,,
There was something very wrong with the sound system with detracted greatly from the show. Perhaps Waters needed to step back a few inches. Piano was great.
Me and my wife went had a good time, sang Lennon's favorite songs. Show was not that long, one and a half hours.
Thoroughly enjoyable and different approach to the life and music of John Lennon.
I was mesmerized during the show. If you are a John Lennon fan, you will love the show.
This was an amazing show ,the two performers were so talented .So very enjoyable and I highly recommend it .
We loved the show. My husband is a huge fan of John Lennon and I took him here for his birthday. We both thought the singer was wonderful as was the piano player. The 90 minute show went by so quickly and we knew every song. The narration between songs was wonderful. We would recommend this show to anyone who is a John Lennon fan. If you do not know his work, then it is still a very good show, but you might no appreciate it as much.
The show was intense. The music was excellent. Both performers were very talented.
Awesome job by both performers - John gets the John vocal nuance - hard to do without John's pipes - yet avoiding mimicking the sound like Beatles tribute bands. The piano playing was inspired - how he evoked complex songs like Strawberry Fields was amazing. However, the show avoided for the most part John's early rock life, Beatlemania songs and life and amazingly any Beatles songs or stories pre-1965/Help!. In other words what made John, John, and why we should care about him today: the artist and the great songs he left us. I conclude that to get permission to use John's catalogue the artist had to get script permission from Yoko. It is hard to avoid thinking this when the story is predominately around the time she spent with John with a heavy dose of post-Beatles songs, some great (Imagine) and some not so great (Beautiful Boy). I'd rather have more early John songs when his songwriting, guitar playing and harmonies changed music forever. Also, John's sharp wit did not come out. Listen to live tapes and recordings and the guy is witty with an edge. Those two issues aside, great show, great songs, great performances.
An energetic and very enjoyable performance. Song selections matched the dialogue perfectly and it was a great learning experience even for someone like me who's been a Beatles fan for 50 years.
Loved the show, if you imagine what John might be doing today, it blew me away!! Would go see it again.
I would recommend this show to anyone- especially people that grew up in the time of the Beatles and fans of John Lennon- 2 people in the show were wonderful- music and words were great-glad we went to see it
Liked a lot. Music fab. Should be labeled concert, not play
