LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:
Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.
BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

I have seen LCD many times live. However, this show was terrible. I did not like the venue. The sound was terrible
LCD put on one heck of party. They played the hits, kept the energy up, and showed us all a great time. It's even more impressive considering they were on night 4 of a 4 night run in Oakland.
This is the second time I’ve seen them live and both times AMAZING. Such fun energy, great crowd, sound was perfect. I will go every time they are near me.
Show great. Would have been nice to know that show started at 9 with no opener. Tkt and emails said 7 doors, 8 show
Amazing show, venue, crowd… most attendees not wearing masks - just an FYI. Biggest disappointment was that there was no encore! And no opener. Still a great evening.
LCD Started over an hour late; no warm up to blame. Heard tuesday was one hour late. Wasted my time. Think we are gonna buy more overpriced drinks? no Balcony even was too loud, even with earplugs. Painful. A Middle school student musta designed stage lighting. Was it The Fox or LCD failing on 8/17? or both. Worst indoor show I've been to (in 30 years)
Best damn show I've ever been to, the sound in this place was nuts. Well def have to come back here for some more faves
LCD sound system was amazing. We had the time of our lives. A great birthday present for my husband. The Fox is such a great venue so beautiful and very crowd friendly space and staff.
I have seen over 40 shows in my life, including some of my favorite artists — but no one has been as good as LCD Soundsystem. The energy was through the roof, the performances were immaculate, and the night was electric.
This was my 3rd time seeing them and this was the best show I’ve seen them put on, can’t wait to see them again.
Too much time spent in what seemed like drum circles … not enough of the dance hits. Felt like I was watching a practice session more than a performance.
My eyes and ears were assaulted for 2 hours on Tuesday that I wanted more and so went again on Wednesday!
I don’t think I have ever danced myself so clean before in my entire life. The night was just so magical and elevating and the Fox theatre is a beautiful venue
This was one of the best shows I’ve seen in awhile. The Fox Theater is the perfect venue for a band like LCD. When the floor vibrates and the theater turns into a disco ball with their lighting installation, you know it’s going to be a good time.
Opening night of LCD Soundsystem’s 8 Bay Area shows was magical. The set list was perfect and the sound system at The Fox Theatre Oakland was clean with booming clear bass rattling the building. If you want to see a real band play real live music, don’t miss these amazing musicians.
I know we got tickets really far away from the stage but I was so disappointed in the sound. It was really hard to hear the concert. Felt like I wasn't even there.
The show I attended was alright. The Hollywood Bowl is a nice outdoor music venue and it was my first time ever going, but it's not great to see live rock shows. They do rent out seat cushions for a dollar if you have a sensitive butt. The large crowds meant long lines for at the entrance and security checkpoint and at concessions. The YeahYeahYeahs performance was amazing, KarenO was lively and energetic on stage. The lighting was great and the video screens helped to make the performance great. The sound quality for the rock band just wasn't great though. Maybe it was because I was towards the middle back, but the sound wasn't great. Speakers should be set up higher into the audience area so I can FEEL the music. This is the reason I go to live concerts. LCD SS was just ok. They tend to play long drawn out music that takes forever to get to the point. Their sound is not bad if you just want something to mellow out to and have as background noise. The openers, Young Fathers, was a great band. I wasn't super impressed with their sound, but I'd see them again. Overall the show was great, especially the YYYs. It's not a bad place to see bands if you live in the area, but if you traveled from out of state, like I did, it may be worthwhile to just see them in a smaller venue.
First time I was lucky enough to be on the floor at this venue. Such a great view! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were amazing and Karen Oh's energy level is and was off the charts. LCD Soundsystem was great too, but I definitely enjoyed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs more. I just wish people understand the importance of concert etiquette.
We went just for the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, whom we have wanted to see for the longest time but have never had the chance. They were exceptional. Karen O has an amazing and melodious voice and can hit both the high notes and the screams. The set list was perfect and included all of my favorites. I also liked how they had the confetti and did more with the video than just show a live shot. I don’t like that they were double billed with LCD Soundsystem because that made the concert too short (1-1/2 hours). I had never heard any LCD Soundsystem songs, so I checked them out on YouTube, but thought they were monotonous. I missed most of the opening act because I was waiting in line for drinks, but didn’t like them either. We usually park at the zoo for Bowl concerts, but tried Hollywood and Highland so we could leave after the YYY’s. We had to walk all over to find the orange court where the bus was parked, so we didn’t have enough time to buy refreshments ahead of time. The walk back was pretty easy, even for my pregnant wife. Security was pretty good before the sun set, they were giving out tickets to everyone blowing smoke, but then they disappeared once the show started. I would highly recommend the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The bands were great. I'm glad the bands didn't allow the back speakers to be turned on because that would have been painful for me. I didn't know the bands but they were pretty amazing . I wished they showed the young fathers on the screen like they did with the other bands. My friend was mesmerized the entire time.
