LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

    Not losing their edge

    by m19r4nt on 5/22/10Terminal 5 - New York

LCD Soundsystem, still one of the best post-disco bands of the times. I think it's James's vulnerability that really attracts me to the music. Enough with irrelevant 90s rock storytelling, for those of us growing up while looking at ourselves and wondering if we've really got 'it', LCD Soundsystem sings our anthems. It's okay to embrace our vulnerability - expressing it is not weakness. You only have to see them on stage to believe it, one of the best shows of the year.

Probably the best show I've ever seen

by svoni on 5/21/10Terminal 5 - New York

I'd heard that James Murphy puts on one of the best shows you'll ever see, so was really looking forward to LCD Soundsystem at Terminal 5 - and they beat my high expectations. He has an amazing energy level, makes it really personal, even to a sold-out show and with a big band behind him. Talent, energy, awesome music/beats make this show, no gimmicky effects. Loved loved loved it!!! Go - and have a blast!!!

    Dissapointing :(

    by thanku4dmusic on 5/21/10Terminal 5 - New York

Love LCD Soundsystem's music - listen to them all the time - and had high expectations for the show. Sadly was quite dissapointed. Firstly the venue was ueber-packed, as Terminal 5 often is, and sweltering hot. The temperature was almost unbearable. The band started late. The vocals were flat and strained. The synths were too loud. The cowbell was overused. There wasn't enough of a LIVE feel to it and the band's energy felt angry and introverted.

    LCD Soundsystem

by dhuman on 4/13/10Webster Hall - New York

Great light show, the green and red lasers coupled with green lighting and fog machines were spot on. Solid mix, their more Talking Heads-esque pieces (Yeah Yeah Yeah) mixed with much more danceable tracks. Glad I went, first time I've seen the band.

Awesome show. They played a very solid set list and range from sound of silver all the way to new unreleased material. The crowd was very energetic and literally made the building move. I kid you not. Even the opener (Fall on my sword) was amazing. Overall- sick show, as expected.

If you haven't listened to the albums, this was a good show: easy to dance to. If you do follow LCD Soundsystem, this was a great show: they played all their favorites, and played with a lot of presence.

So much fun! I've never seen so many people dance like that at a Bowery-type show. James Murphy is a riot.
