LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

    "Yeah Yeah Yeah"

by SquintEastwood on 5/25/10Terminal 5 - New York

James Murphy did yet another amazing job. The light show was pretty much nuts, with disco balls, lasers, and even white balloons that feel from the ceiling at the climax of "New York I Love You, But Your Bringing Me Down" Now here's the thing...... I for one LOVE LCD Soundsystem, however he did two things that really upset me. The main thing (And I think I speak for everybody when I say this) He didn't play "Dance Yrself Clean". He has not yet played this at any of his shows. Normally that would be fine. But in this case... I mean, come on, "Dance Yrself Clean" is SUCHA great song and James knows that. He knows that sooooo many people want to hear it, but yet he still doesnt play it. Second thing is no big deal, but worth mentioning. He quoted "New York by Jay'z" in "New York I Love You, But Your Bringing Me Down"... Seriously? How pathetic. But long story short, I had a great time. Awesome crowd, venue, lights, setlist, performance. = )

    LCD -POW POW ...POW!

by PyroMania on 5/24/10Terminal 5 - New York

I've been a fan since '02. James and the band performed everything that I wanted to hear plus some new cuts off 'This Is Happening' . I really enjoyed the several times when Murphy ad-libbed a few lines during the "classic" 'Losing my Edge'. My only complaint was with the venue - Terminal 5. In my lifetime, I've attended about 300 shows and this venue has the distinction of ranking as THE ABSOLUTE WORST. If you're not pressed up against the stage or lucky enough to get a spot leaning against the upper floor railings; you're pretty much shut out of getting even a glimpse of the band!

    LCD Soundsystem

by XLiontamer on 5/24/10Terminal 5 - New York

At their best LCD Soundsystem sounds like Remain in Light era, Talking Heads. Like the Heads, they are poly-rythmic and multi-membered, there were 7 people on stage each playing a minor part in the sum of the beat, but unfortunately, the quality of the songs does not live up to the Heads when they were in their prime. James Murphy, vocalist and writer for LCD, is without question the focal point of the band. Mr. Murphy's attraction to club, rave and house combined with punk guitar's is what originally attracted me to LCD, but while their music may work in a dance club, it just didn't do it for me as a stage show. It was just too repetitious, repetitious, repetitious, and lacking in melody. Judging by the reaction of the sold out crowd, most of the audience would disagree with me.

    Great music, crowd sucked

by JjjjJJJJJJJjjj on 5/24/10Terminal 5 - New York

The music was brilliant. Too many potheads in the crowd. Seemed like it was all the little kids who heard a song or two on some TV show and thought, "ooh, let's be cool." Oh well, I guess I am now a curmudgeon.

    Aging Hipster Brings It Home

    by Buddha1 on 5/24/10Terminal 5 - New York

High energy; the group was engaged with the audience. JM was desolute, cool, ironic, grateful and appeared to be having fun. The songs sounded very good live; not over-processed. There was a nice "live" feeling and everyone (band and audience) was into it.

    Memorable Concert!

by leesherm on 5/23/10Terminal 5 - New York

First time seeing LCD and it was amazing! It really was an epic performance and full of those few magical moments that makes a concert special. Plus James Murphy has so much energy and is one of the more likeable frontmen - seeing it in New York, his hometown, made the show feel like he was performing to a bunch of friends.

    Best Live Touring Act?

by benifit on 5/23/10Terminal 5 - New York

Jame's Murphy has refined the LCD Soundsystem act to a masterpiece comparable to a Broadway show. With his golden mic and voice of silver he will be remembered as one of the greatest performers of our generation

LCD Soundsystem blew my face off

by SusanneGreenberg on 5/23/10Terminal 5 - New York

Having the perfect view from the middle of the second floor against a counter couldn't have been easier to film with my new HD Flip camera. I got mostly the whole show (had to pause when an idiot spilled his beer on the counter.) The lights were unreal, unlike any other show and the band threw down with energy that made me dance the whole night. Best show ever. A must see!
