LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:
Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.
BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

great bands, great performances, the sound quality in the Aragon was lacking however, making both bands sound distorted at times. the volume was high while at the same time very hard to get a lot of clarity in the music.
I think LCD Soundsystem is a great band but this concert was disappointing. The strobe lights were so intense that I needed to keep my eyes closed for half the concert. The music was amped up so loud it was impossible to make any sense out of it. Buy the vinyl, stay home and listen, enjoy.
I did not stop dancing. Neither did the people around me. I just wish it lasted longer. 1 hour tops, why would they tease us like that?
I love when a sold out show of all sizes, ages, view points, and differences put all their agendas aside and just jam out. Thankfully Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem provided us with the perfect opportunity to do just that this past Monday at the Aragon. I could tell even before I entered the venue that the crowd was ready to dance their asses off. Hot Chip was a great opening act, they really got us warmed up with their contagious beats and fun approach towards performing. LCD Soundsystem rocked out from the get go and everyone around me was lovin it. Their set list was a great blend of old and new and none disappointed. They really built the crowd up with awesome beats and loaded guitars. I loved the encore set too! I wish all shows had this kind of energy! Awesome!
My friends and I rocked out the WHOLE show and danced all night! I wish more people could loosen up and dance or STAND ON THE SIDELINE!!! Awesome shows.
When it comes to getting the crowd up on the feet and MOVIN, DANCIN, and just plain ROCKIN LCD is hands down one of the best groups and live sets out there!
LCD puts on a fantastic live show. So much energy! Killer lights! Highly recommended...
Incredible show. If have the opportunity to see them don't miss them.
What a great time! James Murphy's voice is amazing live. The band was so energetic, totally committed to the performance. I danced every minute.
I've seen LCD before and they are great live so that was no surprise but I must admit, Hot Chip was the winning act! First time seeing them live, amazing performance. I'd see them again in a heartbeat!
This show took it to another level. Hot Chip was great opening things out. So, I hoped that LCD would not disapoint. They did not. This show kicked butt and I was dripping in sweat from dancing so much. I typically go to shows that are more calm and not as dance oriented,(like Interpol or Band of Horses) this one set it off and I had a fantastic Monday night thanks to LCD! My friend who came had not heard of either band before and he too was dancing like a crazy person and has now become a fan of both bands!
LCD Soundsystem puts on a great show. Probably one of the best bands around. Live shows are dirtier and grittier than the albums. Fun for the ravers and the indies alike!
I knew LCD Soundsystem and liked them but my friend was the one pushing to go to see them. I am glad he did because the show was great and LCD is clearly one of those bands that sound a million times better than is captured on their studio albums (which I already liked). I am a bigger fan than I was before the show and would see them again for sure.
LCD Soundsystem opened up with "Dance Yrself Clean" and set the tone for their fantastic performance. I wish I could say that I couldn't be happier with their set, but I could be happier. I have seen them twice this year and would see them again if their was a chance they might play "All I Want", If they played that song it would have absolutely been a 5 star show. P.S. Hot Chip was their opening band and they were awful.
The Hot Chip/LCD Soundsystem bill is one of the best shows of the year. The rumor is that this is LCD Soundsystem's Swan Song, but the turnout has been amazing so far so we'll see if J. Murphy reconsiders. Hot Chip was outstanding and puts on a great live show. They will be headlining on their own soon so look to see that show when it comes around. For those unfamiliar with the music, I best describe it as dance rock. I'm not sure that's even a real category, but it works for me. Download or get yourself an album and decide for yourself. LCD Soundsystem is independent and it has allowed them to perfect their own sound for years. Just go see the show. And don't be afraid to jump around and dance. The Aragon is a great venue as well. The sound was very clean and not overpowering.
I saw these guys earlier at Pitchfork and loved the show but this one was particularly incredible. They are on top of their game go see them!
This is currently my favorite band. they are amazing live. and this being their last tour i saw them as many times as i could and this was probably the worst of the three shows only because of the venue. The aragon is a beautiful venue inside, but i suspect this is only to mask the fact it gets extremely hot inside during shows and the sound is sub-par. Ive heard many a band complain about the heat and the sound. However, because its chicagos most popular midsize venue i keep coming back... wearing shorts and chugging water.
This is the greatest band ever. Absolutely perfectly planned setlist, Hot Chip was a great opener and outside of the muddy sound, just absolutely great performances all around. Best concert I've ever been to.
LCD played such an awesome show. High intensity, always on point, all around fantastic, sweaty dance party. Loved it! Kicked off the show with Dance Yourself Clean that got everyone in the mood to get down.
