LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

best concert i've ever seen. would go again if tickets were available

  • Best concert I've been to, by any band.

    by realliveandemotional on 4/2/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was an unbeatable combination of an intimate yet great venue and a motivated band moved to make a great show for their fans. I'm glad I came to the final T5 shows to see Murphy & Co. live...the energy was amazing, and they played for a long, long time. This show beats no other, and the ticketing was a breeze.

This show was EPIC!!!! Top 3 show of all time, and I've been to many. The talent, the stage presence, and just the pure sound of these guys is unparalleled. I danced all night long!!! So fun. I'm sad I will never see them again.

Last set at T5, second to last as a band. 3.5 hour set, unbelievable and unforgettable.

Absolutely incredible! I'll remember this show for the rest of my life. If only they would do these shows forever. I love you LCD, you will be missed dearly.

  • Fare thee well, LCD Soundsystem

    by DoctorDru on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

For a "one-man band," LCD Soundsystem has definitely matured over the last several years into a formidable live act. They kept the crowd moving for 2.5+ hours, with great energy. It's a shame that they're "retiring" from live performance, just as they were coming into their own as a band to be reckoned with. Here's to you, LCD. Sadly, the sightlines and atmosphere of Terminal 5 leave a great deal to be desired for a live venue, but given the special nature of this concert, I'll save those criticisms for another day.....

  • Terminal 5 is pretty hostile

    by ProfoundlyDisappointed on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

It was truly an amazing show, the crowd was excited and up at the front of the stage there was a lot of pushing going on. I was pushed into some guy who chose to take it personally because he complained to a bouncer and I was ejected from the show - plucked from the crowd and tossed out in the street. I can only assume the guy I was pushed into hasn't been to many concerts. I was only trying to keep upright at that point. In any case, I talked to the security people at the front door and explained the situation and I was let back in, but barred from the show floor because someone had complained about me (the guy who pulled me out just kept repeating that - I still don't know for sure what the complaint was). Back inside I found out just how badly designed Terminal 5 is - I couldn't get to a place where I could see the stage on the two floors above, so many people were packed around the short balcony space, I was resigned to watching the show on the TV screens there, which sucked. A perfect night ruined, and I've no idea how I could have avoided except by not being in that particular part of the floor at that exact moment. All in all, it was the worst night I've spent at a concert. Not the band's fault. 3 stars for the 4 songs I enjoyed before being pulled out. Don't know if anyone else got pulled from the crowd that night. If not, then some of you reading this who were up front at this show know exactly who I am.

  • MY LIFE HAS CHANGED

    by juicyj21 on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Best show ever. I've never been more motivated by a performance in my life. Sure, this is my favorite band, but I honestly think anyone could have a good time seeing these guys. TOO BAD U NO LONGER HAVE THE CHANCE SINCE THEYRE DOING THEIR LAST SHOW TOMORROW. RIP LCD.

I'm so glad I got to see them before they were gone; actually cried a little at the end

  • LCD puts on some of the best shows I've seen.

    by RodTheProphet on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

LCD Soundsystem puts on some of the best shows I've ever seen. I've seen fantastic Rolling Stones, Police, Pavement, TV on the Radio, Paul McCartney, Wilco, etc. shows, and LCD matches up with the best. No one dances at concerts anymore, but they do at LCD shows.

  • Legendary Band, Good Performance, Poor Acoustics

    by supermoo on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

This event was always gonna be awesome. If James Murphy had just rocked up drunk, blabbed into the mic, and then left, I still woulda been happy. I really liked that they played for 3.5 hours, and played all their best songs. I was kinda disappointed with the sound quality though. Sometimes I could barely make out the words, and the subtle synth sounds you hear on the albums were not present. I dunno if the acoustics of the venue had something to do with it? Also, I got there an hour before they started playing, and the best seat I could get was about 100 yards back, behind some fat headed statue of a man (honestly, how can you come to an LCD concert, and not be at least nodding your head, let alone flailing around like a crazy person). Despite these minor complaints above the show rocked. I consider myself very lucky to have seen them before they disappear forever.

  • A True NYC send-off for a legendary NYC band!

    by DoveFanNY on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

No-one throws a party like New York. We take care of our own and threw an all-out blowout of a party to say goodbye to LCD Soundsystem.on Wednesday March 30th, From the first notes of the first song - Dance Yrself Clean, the place went wild. Dancing, jumping, singing, crying and hanging from the rafters. It was an unbelievable show and one I hope I never forget. Even after nearly three hours - nobody wanted it to end. Goodbye LCD and thanks for al great run!

  • If LCD ever plays again, you're a fool to miss it.

    by Rojama on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

James Murphy and his band of multi-instrumentalist dance-punks have done it again. This concert was better than when I saw them at Bonnaroo, and I thought that was an all-time classic in my life. The energy in Terminal 5 was unquestioned as soon as the drum break in "Dance Yrself Clean" hit us all. Everyone sung along when possible, danced and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It was incredible.

LCD was absolutely amazing, best show I've ever seen. Nice job by the T5 staff on running everything smoothly.

  • Awesome 3 hour show.

    by Alias222 on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

LCD soundsytem rocked the show for 3 hours. Well at least the hour was spent playing djset/ jam sessions. Still the fans we're really into it. The energy of the show was not lost thougout the concert. Maybe a few lighter moments but, hey it's the middle of the week and people have jobs, ( well the fortunate ones) still, at the end people were still pumped up.

  • by Anonymous on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was hands-down the best show I have seen in years. It was an all out dance party. I had a great time.

  • As if you ever wanted this to end!!

    by Mandyweez on 4/1/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Shit Robot and LCD Soundsystem gave it their all for LCD's last and final "Hurrahs". I was fortunate enough to attend the March 30th show at Terminal 5...First time seeing Shit Robot was an "illuminating experience" not to mention the beats were banging!! LCD had a wide variety of special guests, choirs, brass sections and played for over 3 hours!! Dance myself clean?? I sure did!! Sad to see the end of this era but know it will not be the last time we hear the members of LCD but as far as together..."tis the last my friends" I couldn't have asked for a better show or better crowd! You will be dearly missed but never, ever forgotten!! Thank you LCD Soundsystem for your years of entertainment and a wealth of "anthems" for our generation that will never get old. Ever.
