A rollicking pajama party with familiar friends!
by Gioia66 on 7/17/09Town Hall - New YorkThe show had a very intimate feel, and the band talked and joked with the audience as if we all were old friends. The mixture of old and new songs, "bedtime reading," including a postcard containing lyrics to the song "Moon, Moon, Moon" all presented the appropriate touches for carrying the sentiment from the band to the child's home and bedtime routine. For the adults, the band threw in a soulful rendition of the James Brown classic "I Feel Good." The band's interaction and sing-alongs with the audience were excellent! The Laurie Berkner Band plays and sings well, and they make sure that they're presenting a high-quality show! On the day that my family attended, a number of concertgoers from the upper balcony (adults and children) took some liberties by coming down to the balcony rail to stand, dance, and jump -- blocking those who remained at their seats, crowding the aisles, and putting the security personnel to the test. It was handled well, but it recurred several times. My advice for future concerts (because the personalities within crowds are unpredictable) is to say that dancing is welcome, but please remain at your seats (in your rows) and, for a safe and enjoyable show for all, please do not go down to the rails. "Dancing in the aisles" was misinterpreted by some fans as "do whatever you want." Live and learn. We did not hold that against the band, or against the managers of Town Hall. Overall, it was a great show and my daughter still talks about it.
