About

Lauren Alaina on Tour

When she auditioned a cappella for the 2011 season of American Idol, Lauren Alaina's voice made J.Lo cry. In truth, that emotive pop-country coo is enough to power an entire concert today, but the Georgia singer gives audiences that and more. Backed by a lean and mean band, Alaina moves between upbeat sing-alongs full of Southern shout-outs (from Jason Aldean to John Deere) and heartfelt autobiographical ballads that often end with the artist shedding a few tears herself. It's no wonder that after winning hearts (and second place) on Idol, Alaina went on to tour with the likes of Alan Jackson, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride and Luke Bryan. Her music supports its old twang with new tech, and her knack for classic storytelling is infused with modern messages of empowerment, acceptance and self-love.

Lauren Alaina in Concert

It's tempting to imagine Alaina as the small-town girl who appears in her 2011 song "Growing Her Wings," locked in a bedroom and dreaming of bigger things. But in truth, this Rossville, Georgia, native took flight at a very young age. She began singing at three and did so pretty much anywhere she could: churches, restaurants, karaoke, family gatherings and, by age eight, talent shows. She won one after another between trips to perform in Nashville, so it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone who knew her that, as a teen, Alaina would step away from serving pizza at CiCi's to try out for Idol. Though she was the Season 10 runner-up, she scored big with a Mercury Nashville record deal, then repaid the favor with her first LP, 2011's Wildflower, the best-selling debut from a female country star since 2006. While that set featured big, crisp production, it was fueled by laid-back grooves, driving Southern rock and the occasional banjo strum. Alaina's long-awaited follow-up, 2016's Road Less Traveled, carried that same feeling forward but with more modern flourishes (producer busbee is as much known for his work with Shakira as Maren Morris). The songs also brought new insight into Alaina's personal life, as she sang about family struggles, romantic troubles and, most importantly, making it to the other side.

    Lauren Alaina is awesome!

by brenten1 on 7/20/17Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Lauren Alaina is a really great new country music singer. She was the runner up on season 10 of American Idol, that she really should have won. Her recent hit song "Road Less Travelled" is such a great song about her personal battle against an eating "disorder" that she successfully overcame. She also did a really great cover of Katy Perry's hit song "Fireworls", as well as some songs from her debut cd, such as "Georgia Peaches". I hope that she has a very long, & successful career in country music, such as her musical idol, Carrie Underwood, the winner of the 4th season of A I. She also sang a song that was written for her by Carrie Underwood called "18 Inches" on her debut cd. Another one of my favorite songs is "Barefoot & Buckwild". The garbage called "country" radio had better wake up & pull their head out of someplace it does not belong, & start to play as much of her music as possible.

    Worse than before.

by Gondale on 7/24/16IA - Monticello

I changed our vacation around so we could once again see Lauren Alaina perform in Monticello, IA on July 22. I saw her about 5 years ago, and she wasn't very good. This time I was greatly disappointed again. She didn't really act like she cared she was there. Seem every distant . She seemed to be getting lost in all the hype. She wasn't entertaining at all, and could not connect with the audience! Never again!

    Karaoke performer

by vianet on 7/15/16Anaheim, CA - Anaheim

She still struggles with high notes. She has a serious problem with her high register. Can't believe this girl won 2nd place. I was shocked when they put her through to Hollywood when she auditioned i thought it was a joke. If you like Lazaro Arbo's voice, you'll like her! She's a little better than him. Save yourself money. Not worth it. Be smart!

She has a great voice, however, her drummer completely drowned out her voice. Very disappointed that I could not hear the words to her songs.

Really enjoyed her concert. She is a great and rising star that is grounded in her roots and in the Lord. The casino is beautiful. GREATLY appreciate them allowing teenagers to come to concerts with adults. It should be a family event.

I'm glad you asked for a review. It was probably a great concert except we couldn't hear anything except the bass drum. That means no vocals, no guitars, and no violin. Was anyone at the mixing table? We lasted 35 minutes; some other folks we knew there lasted an hour. Then our ears hurt so badly we had to leave. Standing in the hall (with lots of other folks who left the event center), we could hear a good mix of all instruments and voice over the monitor, but my section (#202) was so loud we felt pain. It ruined the show. Maybe they couldn't hear the mix from the stage, but where was the house mixer? Fire him/her.

I love to hear Lauren Alaina sing and would not miss her on Idol. I was so excited about seeing her in person that I brought friends with me. However, at the concert, it could have been anyone singing and you would not have known the difference. The band completely overpowered her voice. It was so loud, our whole section was vibrating, and you could not understand a word she sang. Several people left. I gave Lauren three stars because she seems so nice and great with her fans, but I am disappointed that her concert was not enjoyable to me.

    Base too loud

by JDFB on 8/25/13Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Left on the third song because the base was way too loud over powering Lauren Alaina's voice and hurting my ears. On the monitor in the hall Lauren sounded great and has a very powerful voice however, my wife and I were not going to stand in the hall to finish the show. I would recommend the show to someone who liked the loud base.
