About
Laufey (pronounced lÄy-vÄy) is a 24-year-old, Los Angeles-based singer, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose jazz songs are about young love and self-discovery. Raised between Reykjavik and Washington, D.C. with annual visits to Beijing, the Icelandic-Chinese artist grew up playing cello as well as piano and became hooked on the jazz standards of Ella Fitzgerald after digging through her father's record collection. In 2020, while still a student at Berklee College of Music, Laufey released her debut single "Street by Street," which went on to top the Icelandic radio charts. Following the release of her 2021 Typical of Me EP, Laufey was named Best New Artist in Jazz and Blues at the Icelandic Music Awards and hosted her own show on BBC Radio 3/BBC Sounds. Her debut full-length Everything I Know About Love, debuted at #1 on Billboard's Alternative New Artist Album chart, and the lead single "Valentine" peaked at #1 on the Spotify Jazz Chart. In 2022 Laufey was the most streamed jazz artist on Spotify, with 425 million streams across all platforms.

by Kaitlin on 10/20/23The Depot - Salt Lake CityShe was so fun to see live! My only complaint was that it was hard to see her, even though I was standing in the front. As a 5'1"female, I loved how the venue had TVs in the front corners of the room during the opener's set so I could see the full stage at all times. However, they turned those TVs off when Laufey came on... and she was the main event! What's up with that? That was no fault to Laufey, though. She was incredible to see live and I would 10/10 recommend her shows!

by Lexi on 10/19/23It was amazing I knew every song she played had me cryingšš yelling and everything but the only thing that kinda sucked was where I was sitting the people behind me were giving me dirty looksš and I saw that they werenāt even singing when I looked so idk but laufey had an amazing attitude and loved when she played dreamer but 10/10 would go againā¤ļøā¤ļø

However much of the crowd recorded throughout the entire show with their phones above their head, which made it incredibly difficult to see the stage and actually enjoy the show. Multiple people had flashes go off throughout the show as well. I experienced so many groups pushing to the front around me. Overall the crowds behavior was incredibly disappointing and made the show hard to enjoy.

by L on 7/20/23Last year i saw her in Washington DC and it was just amazing!! she was a lot smaller of an artist back then so the venue was pretty small and the tickets were pretty cheap ($20) I really loved seeing her, her voice is so beautiful and even more lovely live!! Iām so excited to see her with the NSO in September for DECLASSIFIED!!
