such a beautiful show, the music, the words spoken. I loved every second.
The performers were great. Wonderful stage presence, great voices and musicianship, and the concept was terrific. Unfortunately, the audio output levels were terribly out of whack and the bass drum and much of the recorded soundtrack that played in the background on several songs overpowered the performers' live vocals and also some of the recorded vocal tracks. I heard several other audience members outside of my party complaining of the same issue, so it wasn't just our row. The sound issues were so bad that they took what would have been a fantastic event and made it "meh."
I cried several times. Las Cafeteras are a powerful group to watch perform live and I will definitely be seeing them again! They celebrated Mexican culture so beautifully while also shedding light on important crisises and issues we see today. This group is doing the damn thing and deserve all their flowers!
Had I known this concert was going to be entirely in Spanish, I would probably have opted not to attend. What I saw was people in lovely costumes, and what I heard was lovely singing, and I still did not understand much of anything. The music was so distorted that I doubt I could have understood it, even if it were in English. The acoustics in Centennial Hall are absurd. And there was one scene that I had to observe with my eyes shut because the actors on stage kept flashing flashlights directly in the audience’s eyes. Our party of four left at intermission, and went for a beer, which was much more entertaining.
Great performance - an emotional rollercoaster. The costumes, performances, and storyline (for the most part) was excellent.
Would have enjoyed more if more of it was in English. Loved the second half, more upbeat, more English and loved the singing. More singing less talking.
Beautiful way to honor Día deLos Muertos, life, lost loved ones & culture. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!
This was innovative performance and a very talented group. My only criticism was booking it at centennial hall where the acoustics are appalling . I try not to go there but I really wanted to see this . It is sad that the audience could not clearly hear what the group had worked so hard to portray. U of A needs to spend some $$ on something besides sports arenas and build a better performance hall !
The sound system at Centennial Hall is bad. It's muffled and scratchy, which is very annoying. Much of this show was in Spanish, which made it hard to follow. The costumes and voices were beautiful but overall it wasn't great. We left at intermission.
Loved the show. Beautiful costumes, amazing musicians, great dancers and strong message. We enjoyed the pre-show fiesta musicians and puppets. We were disappointed in the food options. The advertisement touted how great the food would be. With only 2 workers, they were unprepared for the number of people and the food was just mediocre. Definitely an area to work on.
Simply amazing performances. Do not miss out on this
We arrived late because of accident on Interstate 10, apologize for that. But after getting into our seats all three of us couldn't believe we paid $100 each for an amateur Middle School performance. The lead male performer's voice was very unpleasant. The women voices were good, but the instrumentals drowned them out. We left at intermission because it became ridiculous to stay.
This was such a wonderful show. From start to finish! Wasnt sure what to expect, but left so happy that we went and saw this awesome show! Las Cafeteras were amazing, visually amazing! Highly recommend to anyone! Will definitely see this show again if they return to AZ
We were blown away by the whole performance, from beginning to end. The raw talent and beautiful costumes and music were breath taking. We are looking forward to seeing them every year and developing a new family tradition. Any and every culture would be consumed with the message and take away Peace, Love and acceptance of how fragile life really is.
It's a fantastic show, sometimes a bit political, but I get the point. As a first-generation American of Mexican descent, I appreciated the presentation. The singers were top-notch, and the presentation of the various stages of muerte was spot-on.
I love Las Cafeteras and wanted a way to celebrate and honor Dia de los Muertos! This show far exceeded my hopes and dreams. The passion, love and reverence held by these amazingly talented musicians was humbling. Honoring their ancestors and ours. Sharing a way for us to feel the beauty of life and death. Music that moves to the soul. I hope they return to Seattle for shows like this in the future. My group of 6 will be anxiously awaiting next year's show.
I’ve seen Las Cafeteras a few times in the past and the shows are always fun, and inspiring. The latest show, however, was on another level. While previous concerts have always incorporated storytelling and dance, the latest show has escalated those aspects and incorporated even more rich visual and cultural aspects. The latest show was closer to a Broadway production (in a good way), with props, costumes, recurring visual and musical thematic elements. The result was a powerful and moving experience unlike I’ve experienced in decades as both a prolific concertgoer and subscriber to our local Broadway productions. The young woman next to me was literally moved to tears. We chatted during intermission and she said it was the most amazing production she had ever seen. I can’t wait to see what they do next.
Absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful tribute to those that have passed on. And such a beautiful celebration of life after death. They are such a fun band to see.
Great show! The band and dancing was excellent. Very well put together!
This was a great show and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making sure it was a unique experience. I wasn't expecting some of the theatrical aspects they merged into the show and that made it very unique and one to remember. Great job.
