LA SANTA CECILIA IN CONCERT:
Grammy-winning Mexican-American band La Santa Cecilia plays world music with a contemporary edge, treating audiences to a vibrant blend of styles as diverse as cumbia, bossa nova, boleros, reggae, rock, and soul. At the group’s live shows, brightly-dressed lead singer Marisol Hernandez dances along to the bopping rhythm while wowing audiences with her powerful, soulful vocals. In addition to Hernandez, the band's sound is shaped by Jose Carlos’s reedy accordion and Alex Bendana’s bossa nova basslines. La Santa Cecilia is known for their inventive sound and fun performance style, and they’re sure to thrill ticket buyers as they run through marathon sets of powerful originals, Latin standards, and reimagined rock hits.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Los Angeles in 2007, La Santa Cecilia represents the city’s dynamic Latino population with their generation-bridging blend of native music influences and contemporary pop culture references. Named for the patron saint of musicians, the sextet got their start playing neighborhood shows that focused on social issues like immigration and environmental conservation. Favoring a community-oriented approach to making music, the group released their self-titled EP in 2009 with covers that were individually hand-painted by their fans. As their popularity grew La Santa Cecilia released the debut full-length Triente Dias in 2013, which went on to win a Grammy for the Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album. Within a month of their prestigious win the band released their 2014 follow-up Someday New to widespread critical acclaim. The band continues to play on behalf of social issues in addition to touring in support of their music.

EXCELLENT GROUP, I REALLY RECOMMEND IT. THE BEST "LA SANTA CECILIA" THUMPS UP!!! CAME BACK SOON
This was my first time seeing Santa Cecilia and I will see them again when they return. Marisol has an awesome voice and I loved their vibe and interaction with the audience. The venue was small enough for this and afford an intimate setting. Chandler Center for the Arts was a good venue, the ladies bathroom was large enough to accommodate the patrons, the concession was a little lacking (I believe it was probably the bartender - he was not quick enough). I enjoyed the art gallery while waiting for the show to begin. Overall a very nice experience. I will be back for other shows, especially if they are as good as Santa Cecilia!
A blessing to my ears and tears of joy for me. La Santa Cecilia is unforgettable. I only wish it had lasted longer.
Second time seeing them and it was awesome, to hear them play old remakes from past legends who had an influence on them.
Really enjoyed the show. Was dancing in my chair throughout the show.
Good show & great auditorium, BBBBUUUUUTTTTTTT this group probably best seen/heard in a more intimate setting ... babe sings lovingly but that huge a stage takes something away. That auditorium/stage best suited to Lyle Lovett or Tower of Power(hint hint). And 'will call' doesn't need to be located in the north forty. Gracias !
Very good concert, but I wish it would have been longer.
First saw LSC at Culture Clash and was thrilled that we could see them for a full concert. They didn't disappoint. Terrific music, wonderful vocals, great variety . . . only disappointment was the less than terrific ?acoustics at the venue. Noticed once they went unplugged and we could truly appreciate the instruments and voices. Too bad the entire concert wasn't without amplification . . . . What's with everyone's cell phones recording? I thought that was not cool, but no ushers seemed to address it at all and there was blatant abuse??? Mildly annoying.
As always, an excellent performance. I thought the video presentation was something they could have done in the beginning as people were still coming in late.
From the first to the last song, they were incredible. Their music and spirit is infectious. Marisol's fantastic voice and the skill of the musicians is immediately evident. I wanted to get up and dance throughout the show.
La Santa Cecilia, in the course of two hours, runs the spectator through so many emotions, heartbreak, love, joy and pain. La Marisoul had such a resonating voice, during one part of the concert she stepped away from the mic, and completely a cappella, sang about God. Her voice bounced off the walls and landed lovingly into your ears. It brought tears to me eyes.
The best! Loved the show! The ambiance the music the people! And the sneak peak!
Great performance by La Marisoul and the Santa Cecilia band. They get you dancing and singing to all of their songs! They're always amazing!
Could not sit still! everyone was dancing, it was a beautiful night! La Marisoul's voice is not to be missed
They always put on such a great live show. Their music is infectious and you can't help but move when they start playing. Such talented musicians!! And Marisoul's voice is so powerful that she can bring a tear to your eye. One of the top five live bands of all time!
They rocked out and reached out to the audience more than I've ever seen at a concert. Will definitely be ready to see them again when they come back to San Antonio! The empire theater has the best sound system too!!!
Great band with a lot of energy! Music was so good it made me buy a lot of overpriced beer
From the guitarist to the acordian player to the drummers to Marisoul herself, this band rocked this small venue! The crowd was awesome too!
AMAZING concert! So much energy, talent, and fun!!
