LA SANTA CECILIA IN CONCERT:
Grammy-winning Mexican-American band La Santa Cecilia plays world music with a contemporary edge, treating audiences to a vibrant blend of styles as diverse as cumbia, bossa nova, boleros, reggae, rock, and soul. At the group’s live shows, brightly-dressed lead singer Marisol Hernandez dances along to the bopping rhythm while wowing audiences with her powerful, soulful vocals. In addition to Hernandez, the band's sound is shaped by Jose Carlos’s reedy accordion and Alex Bendana’s bossa nova basslines. La Santa Cecilia is known for their inventive sound and fun performance style, and they’re sure to thrill ticket buyers as they run through marathon sets of powerful originals, Latin standards, and reimagined rock hits.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Los Angeles in 2007, La Santa Cecilia represents the city’s dynamic Latino population with their generation-bridging blend of native music influences and contemporary pop culture references. Named for the patron saint of musicians, the sextet got their start playing neighborhood shows that focused on social issues like immigration and environmental conservation. Favoring a community-oriented approach to making music, the group released their self-titled EP in 2009 with covers that were individually hand-painted by their fans. As their popularity grew La Santa Cecilia released the debut full-length Triente Dias in 2013, which went on to win a Grammy for the Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album. Within a month of their prestigious win the band released their 2014 follow-up Someday New to widespread critical acclaim. The band continues to play on behalf of social issues in addition to touring in support of their music.

From our perch in the VIP section above the stage, we rocked, we laughed, we cried.
We are lucky to witness Santa Cecilia's evolution and House of blues defenetely is a great place to enjoy all the Santa Cecilia's talent.
I was not familiar with La Santa Cecilia. The music and vocals were fabulous. The variety of songs was super. It seems like a fusion of rock, R&B and traditional Mexican music. I cannot wait to see them live again. Truly original!
They are amazing! Fantastic show! Great Musicians and had us dancing in the isles! Love to see them again!

I bought our tickets to celebrate my dearest friend's birthday--she loves this group! It was a wonderful evening. The music was touching and uplifting. We traveled from Tucson to Chandler to hear the group and it was worth every mile to see and hear these outstanding musicians.

I’ve seen La Santa Cecilia several times & they bring it every single time! They are so good & always get the crowd going. I especially love the fact that they are just so energetic & political. I always walk away feeling so much love for our people, music, & dance when I see them!
I had never heard of La Santa Cecilia before the day of the show, but am so glad the concert popped up in my feed. All of the guys are great musicians, and La Marisoul is a beautiful human with a helluva voice. The music made me want to sell all of my things and book a one-way ticket to Mexico to live out the rest of my days there. Go check these guys out!
Concert was awesome, music as always was very entertaining! Our family of 7 enjoyed the evening of dancing & singing along !
This concert was absolutely amazing. We had such a fantastic time. Her music had people dancing in the aisles. She is unforgettable and she sings with such abandon. Memories from the past are brought back to life in my mind and I would definitely go and see her again in concert.
