Simply delightful... La Cage meets Bird Cage
by ACoupleOfGuys on 10/8/12The Fisher Theater - DetroitThe evening started out on a 'sour note' with the disappointment of George Hamilton not performing and having an understudy, Dale Hensley (he was great), in the part of Georges. However, the 'show must go on' and despite the fact one of the main stars was not performing, the play was simply OUTSTANDING!!! Fun, humorous, cheeky... A wonderful night filled with laughs! From the very start of the "opening act", per say, with a Drag Queen performing 'off the cuff' as only a true Diva and Drag Queen does, with the sarcastic venomous quick witted cutting humor as only a true Drag Queen can deliver, to the very end with the whole cast doing the "encore"... Pure delight! Christopher Sieber was fabulous as Albin/Zaza. The "maid", Jacob, was a hoot and "stole the show" many times. The entire cast was amazing! Kudos to the entire production... A wonderful adaptation and "mix" of the original "La Cage Aux Folles" and the American big screen version, "The Bird Cage". Thank you, Harvey Fierstein, for helping bring this delight to the stage! KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS to everyone involved in making this "come to life"! A truly entertaining evening!
