The bands were awesome! a few sound malfunctions but they got worked out. I preferred when we had actual seats at the main stage as opposed to general standing on the side stage: ppl rushed and ruined it for those who had been waiting there.

    No energy

by rabby12 on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

Simply put, none of the bands had much energy this year with the exception on the Stone Temple Pilots and Sublime w/Rome.

    Weenie Roast Resurrects the 90s

by silverinacoma on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

Not that we've already forgotten the 1990s, but KROQ's Weenie Roast 2010 certainly showcased the best of the best from the decade which included The Deftones, Hole, Stone Temple Pilots and Sublime. My memory was jarred and I had a great time singing along to some of my favorite songs from junior high and high school. It was a great trip and I had much love for Sublime with new lead singer Rome. I miss the original vocalist Bradley Knowles so much but Rome's enthusiasm and vocal style was great. Scott Weiland and the rest of the STP crew rocked my face off. Weiland was in top form and looked like a run way model crossed with some Mick Jagger and Robert Plant. New bands like Paramore, Silversun Pickups and Against Me! were a delight and the 80s futuristic sound of veterans Devo was amazing. Hole was probably the biggest disappointment of the night. The rest of the bands more than made up for Courtney Love's embarrassing tirade. Looking forward to next year's line up!

    Great Show!

by Esmescaliente on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

I had a great time at this year's Weenie Roast! This was my 2nd time and I was happy with the performances. There was sound issues with Deftones and I was looking forward to hearing them. They should have been on the main stage. I loved seeing STP, Temper Trap, Paramore and Sublime with Rome. The energy and stage presence was amazing for all the bands. They really brought the best of themselves and it pumped me up. I think the sound could have been louder for Sublime w/ Rome. There was a special guest last year and I was disappointed about that. I wish Sublime with Rome would have done an encore song like Caress Me Down.

Great show, in my opinion STP stole the show, Scott Wyland was amazing! Hole was surprisingly good and Courtney Love was actually very funny and sounded really good!! Sublime had a tough time following STP, a lot of people started to leave when they came on!..I would absolutely go next year!!

    Awesome Show!!

by AlohaBlue on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

We go every year and KROQ never disappoints. The line-up this year was great and all the bands sounded fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of bands that I wasn't sure I'd like. The Dirty Heads were WAYYYYY better than I expected, Spoon, Cage the Elephant and the Silver Sun Pickups were solid, Paramore was fantastic, Devo was great even though they are freaking wackos, Courtney Love's voice is still as rockin' as ever and I thought "Hole" (not really Hole but whatever) sounded pretty good. The night really started, in moy opinion, when STP took the stage. Scott Weiland was electrifying and they sounded amazing. Sublime with Rome was fun and it was great to hear all the usual Sublime favorites. AWESOME show, can't wait for next year!!

    Great all around show

by SommerEightySix on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

Sublime was amazing. Rome sounds like Bradley. All bands were cool and played what we knew. The newer bands played their catchy singles and all was well.

    DEVO owned it!

by Transatlantic on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

Most of the other bands were good this year as well. Only caught DEVO, STP and Sublime with Rome (intentionally missed Hole) all of which were good.

    Stone Temple Pilots delivered!

by Jamieutt on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

What a great way to start off the summer. The weather was great, the band lineup on both the side stage and the main stage was timed perfectly and gave you time to see all the bands. The interview that Stryker from KROQ FM did with The Dirty Heads was fantastic! Thanks KROQ!

Deftones never seize to amaze me!

by MaryDazzle on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

The Weenie Roast is always full of surprises, you never know what will happen. I decided to buy tickets for this lineup do to its revival of 90s alternative rock bands. Their were new acts in the lineup such as the temper trap and passion pit but we can easily draw the music influence source for each. I had so much fun and recommend it, here is my review I got in to the show in enough time to catch the last song by the temper trap, what i saw wowed me and I wish or want to see more of the band. The Passion Pit was devine with their synthpop music, the opening song reeling set the groovy dance move n closing out with sleepyhead who doesn't know that song. I had read good reviews on passion pit and I am definitely a fan now! Against me is not my kind of music but as performers they put so much energy out and was pleasing to watch. Chevelle's frontman Dean sang with so much emotion, I am a fan of their music but as a band they weren't entertaining to watch they need to get into the spirit and just rockout together as a band the bassist, Dean was so far away and this is a band that consists of 3 band members only. Now, the Deftones were AMAZING !!!! With Chi's situation I expected the band to be somber, and Chino's performance to be careless. I was amazed, they rocked the side stage. The opening song was a total mess do to Chinos mic, but for the second song he got a new mic and it was on. Chino threw the mic that ruined the first song across the audience, one of the memorable moments. Chino has never sounded better, and he looked so healthy. The performance was so energetic, the crowd was pitting, crowd surfing and the hardcore fans sang to every song. The bands performance was full with movement, sweat and interaction with the crowd. Stephens guitar riff were so clean, and he brought his tan and brown LV guitar for those classic songs such as around the fur, lotion and knife party. The closing song was Birthmark and my oh my the crowd had to mega pits and everyone let loose! The Deftones never seize to amaze me, I have been following(attending their concerts) this band since 1997 and they have always given 100%. Im glad they closed out the side stage it gave the crowd an opportunity to experience the Deftones live performance. The Main stage acts could have been better. I am a Hole fan, but Devo was the best performance of the main stage (sorry STP). The first band the dirty heads didn't do anything that appealed to me, in the audience they had very few followers. Cage the elephant was interesting but not my cup of tea. Now Spoon and the Silversun Pick ups set the mood for the alternative scene that evening. Both bands were great and it was my first time watching them and they had the audience rocking out. Now Devo, took to a whole another level, they started out with don't shoot i am a man in white costumes with helmets that covered their eyes. It was so fresh and new and the funny part is that they've been around for nearly 30 yrs. The effects, visuals, and light concepts transcended the audience to every songs mood. I have never seen Devo live before, and i was just breath taken by their set. They played their classic hits which everyone knows I wont mention their names. They were the only band that did a costume change that was efficiently quick for the time given. Their aesthetic is pretty phenomenal. I enjoyed watching them and would see them again! Courtney Love has not changed one bit, she still has it. Same careless attitude, but delivers a song with such depth and emotion. Hole has a new lineup, not the one I saw 12 years ago. Hole delivered the goods and the audience gave Ms. Love the big welcome back. STP reunited again, the four original members together sharing the stage. STP was everything I expected them to be, and what I had read about their live performances. I wish their set could have been longer. STP has so many classic songs it would have been perfect if they could have performed them all, but what I got was just a taste and it will do for now. Scott looked cleaned up in a white dressy shirt, vest and black pants his dressing taste has matured but he still has that edge! I left after STP and didn't catch Sublime. Next year if the line up is as good I will be attending! :-)

    2010 Weenie Roast Review

by TimfromOC on 6/6/10Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Irvine

Overall a good show but had technical difficulties a few ties that cut into the limited sets for each artist. More restrooms at the side stage would be nice as well as a little shade to rest in. Side stage started off slow but then got going. It would be better to keep the slower and electronic acts on a separate stage going on at the same time. The main stage acts were good as usual. Devo was out of place but overall a good show.
