    Did not blow me away!

by obiewankenobi on 12/10/13Shrine Auditorium - Los Angeles

No bands really stood out for me like in years previous. It did not make me want to go home and buy any songs!! Still can't beat the price for all the bands on the roster.

One of the best shows I've been to

by FoalsFan on 12/10/13Shrine Auditorium - Los Angeles

Before I even bought tickets and flew out to LA for this amazing show, I just wanted to see my favorite band Foals perform live in the US before 2013 was in the books. What I saw, was some of the best bands in the world jammed under one roof and it was absolutely incredible. The energy was there from start to finish, and I didn't want to leave my seat, even when I wanted to grab a beer. The action was non-stop and the typical wait-time between sets was non-existent because of the rotating stage. If you want to see any music festival or sick lineup, see it at the Shrine!

    Awesome

by MoMoinOC on 1/3/13Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

Overall, an unforgettable night. I felt terrible for Of Monsters and Men though because of the technical difficulties during their set, but despite that, I fell in love with their music. All the bands were great, and I had a great time.

This was the most amazing concert I have ever been to! I was very impressed by the line up and all the bands were great live! Also, the rotating stage with no down time between bands was fantastic. Well done!

Great Show - Sub Par Sound

by Wilternh8r on 12/11/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

I've been to at least one night of about 6 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmases over the years and it's always a great show by a great lineup. It's a little unfortunate that the format has completely gone away from its original, slightly more toned down ("unplugged") sets by these bands. Might as well take out the "Almost Acoustic" part of its name. Heck, might as well take out the "Christmas" part too, since no band even played a Christmas song. It's fine though. There's nothing wrong with a rock show... but, I'm just sayin'. Big thumbs down to the sound at the Gibson. Night 2, during Of Monsters And Men's set, some sort of Walkie Talkie interference came on and blew everyone's ears out. Props to the band for soldiering through that mess. But even beyond that, the levels just seemed way too high. I go to rock shows all the time and believe me, loud does not bother me, but when the LOUD affects the sound QUALITY, it sucks. Only about three of the bands were at levels, that the audience could understand what they were saying. It is even worse with bands that use a lot of electronic instrumentation (M83, Imagine Dragons, Alex Clare, etc...). Unfortunately, this complaint is pretty normal for shows at the Gibson shows. It's too bad too, because other than that, the venue is GREAT. 5 Stars for the show, 1 for the venue = 3 Stars.

What a way to end the 2012 KROQ Almost Acoustic Ch

by eulogy on 12/11/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

Great show. From the very first band all the way to the end the show was full of energy. The surprise was pretty great too. No doubt performed. They were not on the bill and had a surprise performance. That was great. The Killers were the headlines and for lack of a better word, they killed it! Great show. Good people, good vibes. The entire night was fun.

    ACX Night 2: Bands=Amazing; Sound Crew=Lame

by ROQMusicFan on 12/11/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

I have gone to all but six of the 23 years of KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas. This year's lineups were fantastic, but Night 2 (Sunday, 12/9) was definitely the better of the two. The Killers killer set rocked the house as the headliner, the strange genius of Jack White mesmerized the audience, and special surprise guest No Doubt got the entire house singing and dancing in a frenzy. Other highlights included Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, and M83. However, the Gibson Ampitheatre owes Of Monsters and Men a HUMONGOUS apology. I have been attending live shows in L.A. and around the world for nearly 30 years, and never before has a sound/stage crew screwed up as royally as they did Sunday night. From the beginning of their set, you could hear noise coming over the speakers from backstage. During their first two songs, you could hear sound-checking sounds and the crew talking to each other. But then halfway through the set, the crew talking to each other completely drowned out the band's music and singing. The band slowed, then stopped...and you could still hear the crew sending cues to each other...how could they not hear that the band had stopped playing and the entire theatre was booing?? When the cross-talk stopped, the band re-started their song...only to have it happen again!!! All the interference, mixed signals, and talking completely ruined the set. The band finally finished their last song, and left the stage in disgust. The crew had to take a 15-minute break between bands...killing the mood of the show. If the KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas wasn't the best show of the year, I would definitely never return to the Gibson Ampitheatre. I hope KROQ finds a new venue.

    Acoustic Christmas

by Vronied on 12/10/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

the show was fun, wish it ended better, no encore for Linkin Park really sucked, I don't think anybody left satisfied in that regard. Also, the sound wasn't great, don't know what was up with the sound for the entire evening.

KROQ PUTS ON ANOTHER GREAT SHOW !!!

by gsparky on 12/10/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

Another great lineup from KROQ. Why can't San Diego radio station's do what kroq does several times a year. Linkin park, Garbage, Bush, Slightly stupid lumineers etc etc. Fun venue though the sound could of been better. Worth the 2 hour drive to L.A

KROQ ALMOST ACOUSTIC XMAS NIGHTS 1 AND 2

by Billythekid72 on 12/10/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

I took my 13 year old son to both nights much to mom's skepticism. ("All kinds of bad stuff goes on at rock concerts!") The first night was flawless in presentation. Unfortunate for Of Monsters and Men on night 2, the sound guys had some serious issues during their set. My only complaint was we had Mezzanine tix the 2nd night but we sat down in the Lodge in our seats from night 1 for the first 3 hoursof night 2 until it started to fill up. We went up to claim our Mez seats but they were occupied and located smack dab in the middle of a 30 seat row! There are NO USHERS working upstairs and nobody downstairs wanted to help so...... we wound up watching the entire show from our unclaimed lodge seats! OH WELL! Why am I complaining? I've read parking is NOT better in the $20 section of Preferred. Don't believe it. It was worth it! Most these bands are one hit wonders. Some have great potential but lack consistant songwriting. Some might become superstars. Imagine Dragons stood WAY out on night 2. creating an atmosphere better than ANY BAND ON EITHER NIGHT! 2 Door Cinema Club had a really consistant set list. There songs are better when they are in the old Airborne Toxic Event Style. I wish I'd NEVER seen either Neon Trees OR Walk The Moon! Love their music....HATED their stage presence! Group Love made me laugh as they reminded me of the old party scenes on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In! The Lead vocalist and the girl were 2 of the BEST performers of both nights while a Rod Zombie clone on bass just didn't fit in! All the headliners didn't disappoint!

    AMAZING SHOW!

by eulogy on 12/10/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

I have been to several of KROQ's Acoustic Xmases throughout my life. This one by far was the best night I have ever attended. The bands were all amazing. Plus, the energy in the venue was just incredible. At one point I stood completely still and the entire venue was shaking. It was insane. Loved it. I will be deaf for days but it was totally worth it.

    Bush, and garbage were awesome

by Syrus121 on 12/10/12Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk - Universal City

The event is hands down the best concert I have been to. The bands play all the hits that people know. Linkin park was phenomenal. And bush and garbage were amazing. Thank you kroq for putting such great bands on your lineups.
