The show opened with Texas' GRO, who were really fun, especially when they played their hits "Goodbye LA" and "Come On". Their upbeat songs were great for setting the tone for the night.
The Fine Line was almost full with a wide variety of fans: a couple of children, lots of twentysomethings, couples, groups of friends, etc. It was very crowded on the floor, but there was some room to move around upstairs, which was nice.
Kris had a great setlist that included his hits from the album, "Live Like We're Dying" and "The Truth", as well as a mashup of "Heartless", which was arguably his greatest hit on American Idol and "Gangsta's Paradise". It was cool to hear the band do an acoustic version of "Maybe" and "Paranoid Android", which both served to show the great versatility of the Kris Allen Band. Of course my favorites were all from Kris Allen's new album: Bring It Back, Red Guitar, Before We Come Undone, All Right With Me, Lifetime, and more.
I was really impressed with how tight the band was and the beautiful harmonies they created together. They seemed like they had been playing together for years. The sound was great from where I was sitting, and they were fabulous!
I found out afterwards that Kris was sick and that that was why the band didn't come back for an encore. I was disappointed that I didn't get to hear my favorite Kris Allen song, "I Need to Know" (rumor has it that it was on the setlist along with "Come Together" for the encore), but the songs that we did experience were awesome (I think they played for about 1-1/4 hours), so I definitely left feeling thrilled with the concert experience. I never would have known that Kris was sick...he was really a trooper, and I thought his voice sounded amazing! It was really an awesome show.
