It’s impossible to imagine 1970s pop music without remembering Kool & the Gang, whose versatile, jazz/funk/R&B sound crossed musical genres into mainstream popular culture. With sales of tens of millions of albums worldwide, Kool & the Gang have influenced a generation of singers like Kriss Kross, Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Doggy Dogg, De La Soul and countless others. In concert, Kool & the Gang treat their ticket holders to a high energy extravaganza featuring a mix of old favorites and jazzy, funk-infused new songs that sizzle with intense, cascading rhythms. Today, the group celebrates not only 50 years in the music industry, but also its latest album, “Home for the Holidays,” which features holiday music performed in its unforgettable, jazzy funk-infused style and innovative sound.
Kool & the Gang got its start when a group of five high school buddies got together in 1964, performing contemporary, funk-based harmonies and arrangements. After the release of several albums featuring the lead vocals of J.T. Taylor, the group hit mainstream fame in 1973 with its album “Wild and Peaceful,” which featured mega hits like “Funky Stuff,” “Hollywood Swinging” and “Jungle Boogie.” They followed this success in 1980 with their blockbuster hit “Celebration,” which is considered by many to be the iconic musical anthem of the era. During the 1980s, they followed with a string of hits, including “Cherish” and “Fresh.” As musical styles changed into the 1990s, the next generation of hip-hop performers acknowledged how much they had been influenced by this pioneering group, and awards and accolades soon followed, including the National Association of Recording Merchandisers Chairman Award in recognition of the group's staggering record sales. In 2006, the group hit the Billboard R&B charts yet again with “Steppin’ into Love.” In 2012, with three of the original members still performing ( brothers “Kool” and Ronald Bell and George Brown), Kool & the Gang embarked on a highly successful tour with Van Halen. They followed this up with an extensive 2013-2014 worldwide concert tour that has included stops in several cities in Japan, Europe and the US. Today, enthusiastic ticket holders can expect to hear all their old favorites in concert, performed in that inimitable signature sound that has made this group a fan favorite and cultural phenomenon for half a century.
All the entertainers were wonderful. Definitely the music I grew up singing. Loved it! Hats off to ECK dropping it like it's HOT! I am a year younger than her and if I drop it, I'll be seeking help to get up. As for Kool & the Gang, I would follow them around the world. Kool is still SEXY..... Great show.
Kool and the Gang was very good. Started off a little slow but picked up and gave an awesome performance. The Opening acts were outstanding! Evelyn Champagne King gave a wonderful performance with a lot of energy and did not disappoint. She sounds the same as back in the day. Love her! Rose Royce had me dancing non-stop. Sang all their hits and kept the crowd on their feet. High energy and totally engaged with the audience. I would see Evelyn Champagne King and Rose Royce again in a heart beat.

I've never been to Thunder Valley before so when I saw Kool & The Gang would be there, I said let's check them out. Boy did they not disappoint. The band was incredible, the show, one for the books! Rolls Royce and Evelyn Champagne King were awesome too. Good line up, good concert.
Kool & The Gang is good funky musical band. You must see if you can.

Their song summed up their performance. It was a "Celebration". It was an absolute blast. Their songs are fun and loved how everyone in the band got to do solos that really showed how excellent they are as musicians. They got the crowd involved and it really was like a party. Also 5 stars for opener "Rose Royce".
All the acts were great and truly professional. Kool and the Gang played all their hits — too bad the late original singer wasn’t there, but the replacement lead did a very credible job!

It was an older group of attendee's. This was the best concert that I've attended in 25 to 30 years. All of the performances were great. I would have loved to see Evelyn"Champagne"King on stage for a longer period of time. Over all it was a great show.
We met with 3 other couples and NONE of us had been to a concert in the Venue so we didn't know what to expect. All of the ushers were friendly, polite and helpful! And we sat in different areas, but all agreed that ALL of us had excellent views of the stage. LOVED the lineup of Evelyn Champagne King, Rose Royce and then Kool and the Gang! The only disappointment was that ECK seemed very rushed and was hardly on the stage. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the music, drinks and concert experience at the Venue!
After all these years they are still amazing! The show was awesome!
The concert was very good. The front section we were in 102 Row P, was a flat floor area. Consequently, if you are sitting in the back rows like us, the view becomes limited of the stage/show, especially for my wife who is short 4'11". We had to watch most of the show off the 2 large monitor, even though we less than 16 rows from the stage, or about 50' from the stage. That was disappointing. Thanks Brian
All the groups were great…playing their classic songs. Very entertaining. Enjoyed the bit of history on Kool and the Gang. They kept the crowd alive..!!!

Kool and the Gang seems to just get better with time. I’ve been going to see them for over 40 years and they never disappoint! Always funky and fun!
The concert was just alright. Evelyn champagne king did her thang. I thought kool and the gang would be the wow factor of the evening but they weren’t
Unforgettable performance. Worth it. Performers are hyping out the crowd.
Too much instrumentals to fill in the 1.5 hours and too little of recognizable Kool and the Gang songs. Ones the did do had long lead in instrumental, longer than normal mid song instrumental section making a normal 3 minute hit go 5-7 mins. Instruments mix overly load and drowned out vocals sometimes.
I had a great time at the Kool & the Gang concert. Checking in through security, getting my beverage, and locating my seat, only took a few minutes.
