About

KONGOS IN CONCERT:

South African-bred family band Kongos continues to gain fans around the globe with their boot-stomping sound and high-energy live performances. The band's four brothers possess an undeniable chemistry on stage, and their knowledge of both their craft and each other really shine as they tear through tracks like "Come With Me Now" and "I'm Only Joking". With their music receiving heavy radio airplay in the US and Canada, the boys of Kongos are ready and raring for another rollicking round of shows on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dylan, Daniel, Jesse, and Johnny Kongos were raised splitting time between London and South Africa. Their earliest exposure to music came via their singer-songwriter father, who  encouraged them to toy around with the instruments in his home studio. After relocating to their mother's hometown of Phoenix, AZ, they formed their namesake band and began to hone their sound.  They released their self-titled debut album in 2007, supporting the record with extensive touring that earned them a strong regional following. They released their sophomore album Lunatic in their native South Africa in 2011, topping several charts in that country with the single "I'm Only Joking". The album was released in the US in 2013 and fared equally well, earning them their first stateside No. 1 with the anthemic hit "Come With Me Now". A phenomenally talented act with big things on the horizon, Kongos continues to floor ticket buyers around the country with their must-see performances on tour.

More fun than nitrous on oxide.

by Toolai on 1/15/19Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Love listening to the four brothers harmonize! Truly talented and so much fun discovering just how good the accordion can sync with slide guitar. Never quite fully appreciated that combination until seeing these guys live.

    Epic!!!!!!

by AM on 1/15/19Neptune Theatre - Seattle

My first concert ever and it was freaking awesome. I got a spot real close to the stage and was jamming along the whole time. My favorites all got played, and all the new stuff was so good I had to buy the cd after. Would go again!

    Disappointed

    by T. H. on 1/15/19Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Love the venue, been there several times, but this time the sound was so bad, you couldn't understand the lyrics even on songs you knew well.

Both Kongos and Mother Mother did great

by loop3loop on 5/22/17Crystal Bay Club Casino Crown Room - Crystal Bay

It's too bad there wasn't a better audience turn out for the bands but it did allow for great viewing/listening without fighting a crowd! Best show experience I've had in a long time...

Very intimate setting. Kongos were amazing. They played the new and old and were spot on. Thanks for a great time. Best of luck on your tour.

    Absolutely stellar

by Anonymous on 5/10/17Delmar Hall - Saint Louis

The Kongos put on a spectacular and intimate performance in Delmar Hall. Despite being a tour in support of their new album "Egomaniac," they played several fan favorites for their breakout hit album "Lunatic." I splurged for meet and greet passes, which earned me tons of free merchandise, and they were very personable and fun to hang out with.

The Joy Formidable rocked my soul

by Festidad on 10/19/16Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Arkells, The Joy Formidable, Kongos played Sunday night. Arkells did a nice job ramping everyone up. The Joy Formidable rocks hard! Kongos, I skipped them since I tried watching them 2 other times and it was just not for me. The event at Electric factory was overloaded with the smoke, a little too much fog. Maybe a little more light, it was kind of dark even though red/blue lights were on. It was smaller than I remember when I seen Hole play in the late 90s. good parking close by. I did not like the $12 extra charges on my ticket, $5 would be plenty.

Wish the Factory had better Sound

    by Piratecptjack64 on 10/19/16Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Kongos were incredible! I repeat the artist Kongos were awesome. Knowing all of their music inside and out however was disappointing when looking at the Electric Factory as a venue. Too much bass echoed across the walls giving the ability to only hear a third of the song.

    Second time was even better.

by itme on 10/15/16Royale Boston - Boston

I saw Kongos during their Lunatic Tour in 2015. So when I heard they were coming to Boston again on their Egomaniac tour, I knew I had to go. I even bought VIP. The show was fantastic. They have such a great energy that can't be beat in my opinion. Getting front row definitely made the experience better. The music was fantastic, and they interacted with the crowd a lot. Then came the meet and greet. These four guys were so awesome and nice to everyone. Definitely would reccomend.

    Come with me now

by SamLocke on 10/15/16Royale Boston - Boston

With a phenomenal venue and affordable pricing; the three bands I saw on the 12th of October were incredible. The sound was great. The crew of people working the venue approachable and fun. The whole atmosphere was uplifting and exciting. Absolutely perfect.

    Loved them!

by svassillion on 10/15/16Royale Boston - Boston

I love this band! Seeing them in person was not disappointing at all. In addition to their songs that have strong rhythms you just have to move your body, the sound was loud like their music demands, and the light show was on point. They make it impossible not to get into the music. I brought my sister who doesn't listen to their music usually and she loved it! The only thing I could complain about was how long the opening acts took as there were two who both sang a good amount of songs- if it was a Saturday I would have been all for it, but it was a Wednesday. Regardless, I can't wait to see them in Boston again.

    Kongos!

by nogiigon on 10/4/16Union Hall - Edmonton

I really enjoyed the show. I was also really disappointed that they did not sing the song 'Sex on The Radio', especially after the encore was a remake of a New Order song. But it was a good show.
