About Knoxville Ice Bears
Knoxville Ice Bears at Knoxville Civic Coliseum
The Knoxville Ice Bears hit the ice for another exciting season in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Knoxville Ice Bears play out of the General James White Memorial Civic Auditorium and Coliseum (usually shortened to Knoxville Civic Coliseum), which opened in 1961 and has a capacity of 5,937. Coach Jeff Carr replaced Mike Craigen before the beginning of the 2017-18 season. The Ice Bears are one of five teams playing in the SPHL, including the Birmingham Bulls, the Huntsville Havoc, the Macon Mayhem and the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
History of the Knoxville Ice Bears
The Marble City has had a decades-long love affair with hockey, with the Knoxville Knights playing in the Eastern Hockey League from 1961 to 1968, and the Knoxville Cherokees of the East Coast Hockey League from 1988 to 1997. Mike Murray was the Cherokees’ all-time leader in points, goals and assists before becoming the Ice Bears’ general manager in 2006. The Knoxville Speed of the United Hockey League played from 1999 until 2002, after which the Ice Bears were founded as a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. After one season, the ACHL split into the SEHL (of which the Ice Bears were a member) and WHA 2, with the surviving teams from each league rejoining for the 2004-05 season as the Southern Professional Hockey League.
The Knoxville Ice Bears have been the most successful franchise by far in the SPHL, winning President’s Cup championships in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2015, and William B. Coffey trophies as the team with the best regular-season record in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. UFC fighter Scott “Hot Sauce” Holtzman, who hails from Knoxville, played two games with the Ice Bears in the 2007-08 season, before pursuing a career in mixed martial arts.

On Ice seats with great views!!!! Love Ticketmaster
First time going to a hockey game. I took my son whose 9 and we both really enjoyed it! Would love to go again.
My 6 yr old son bought a puck & got it signed by 2 players. He said it was the best night ever!
The experience was so much fun! There was always activities going on before and during the game to let fans interact. We will definitely be back!
The game was awesome. I love the game and would love to go back and watch another one. I enjoyed being at the game with the family
awesome hockey game..hot dog with water..popcorn..nachos..hot dog with cheese..
Wife and I planned on attending more games this year and didn't make it happen. Anyway we went Friday evening and the ICEBEARS played great, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the evening was a great time. THANKS!!
Even though the Coliseum is in dire need of an upgrade, we had an awesome time. Love the game, parking and traffic control were great, staff helpful
My son and I have found a common interest, that is hockey. It is going to watch the Ice Bears. Mommy and son time. It was his 16th Birthday an it is getting harder for me to find time to spend with him, so this is our time together. We both love it. We just started going this year. The games have been great. Won a few, lost a few. I would love one time for him to meet the players, but he is shy. We leave after the game is over. I've tried to get him to stau but no he wants to go home. I dont know much about hockey, but I'm learning from him and of course the fights are always fun to watch. Don't know why because I don't like watching people hurt each other. Continue with the Ice Bears because me and my son have fun. Thank you.
ICE BEARS! Fun Time! For the whole family or a date! Good concessions, cold drinks of your choice and cocktails.
I had a great time at the game. Even though the Bears lost. Everyone is very nice, fan and staff. Using T Master to purchase tickets was basically an effortless process. I had great seats right behind the goal and the only way it could have been better is if the tickets were free but for a professional hockey game they are really not that expensive.
This was our first game in 30 years and recently moved to TN. We had a great time and loved every minute... parking was across the street and easy to access the game. Friendly people and great hockey. Great assortment of food and craft beers!
You can get good seats for a reasonable price, easy parking, lots of good hockey! My six year-old grandson loves to come!
Really good seats great game would definitely be back for other games
It was great entertainment and fun! My only complaint would be that they could give more information about the activities for children.
Having the tickets on my phone was super easy. Overtime was exciting. Staff was friendly.
Amazing fans and team. We really enjoyed the winnie dog race. We plan on going again.
Took some first timers and had a great time! We’re going again soon!
