About

Knocked Loose In Concert

The evolution of heavy music has made it so the lines are blurred between genres and sounds, particularly where punk, hardcore, and metal are concerned. As the members of Knocked Loose will be the first ones to admit, they wouldn't have it any other way. The band's 2016 full-length debut, Laugh Tracks, is an aggressive encapsulation of post-hardcore screamo angst, as evidenced by its amalgamations of thrash metal riffing, sludgy tempos, and metalcore-caliber growls. However, the album's subtle nods to other styles — including nu-metal's hip hop-inspired vocals and early heavy-metal smolder — underscore Knocked Loose's commitment to diversity.

The band officially formed in 2013 in Oldham County, Kentucky, though vocalist Bryan Garris had started playing with bassist Kevin Otten and guitarist Isaac Hale several years earlier. Name and lineup changes followed, but the band did find time to issue 2014's Pop Culture EP, a brutal, churning explosion of guttural riffs and Garris' anguished, throat-shredding screams, and a 2015 split EP with Damaged Goods.

After signing with Pure Noise Records in 2016, Knocked Loose's career picked up considerably. In addition to the release of Laugh Tracks, the group earned high-profile opening slots on tours with fellow genre-flouters Every Time I Die and Beartooth, and a spot on the 2017 Vans Warped Tour. Touring with and being around so many different bands has helped Knocked Loose hone a confrontational live show. At their gigs, it's not out of the ordinary to see fans doing flips and jumps off the stage into a teeming crowd of moshers, while Garris growls and stomps around like he's hunting prey. No wonder the group fits in no matter where they go — Knocked Loose makes other groups bend to their approach, rather than changing themselves to fit in with anybody else.

One of the best combination of sounds.

by Adam Childress on 4/8/22Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore

This show was made for me. Very heavy. Very melodic and every band was at their best. Kublai Khan & Movements were the best of the night. Knocked Loose killed it as always. Koyo was a pleasant surprise.

    Venue unprepared

    by N/a on 12/6/21Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

Venue was unprepared for the crowd that they reopened ticket sales for. If it was sold out already then continue to keep the show sold out. Also with how wild that crowd / type of music is, measures should be taken to protect equipment from moshing. Nope equipment broke and took 50+ mins to fix while sipping on my $13 pbr.

KL is amazing, Live Nation is awful.

by Tha Don on 12/6/21Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

The show itself was fantastic, however the Mercury Ballroom and LiveNation in general is god awful. LiveNation is a company that continues to ruin art on a mass scale with corporate greed and bottom lines. The Mercury Ballroom has awful sound, and provided no outdoor area or reentry during a pandemic in which it’s even questionable large events should be held. Both Mercury Ballroom and LiveNation should be ashamed.

    Technical difficulties

by Slysugar on 12/6/21Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

One of the opening bands “Nothing” sucked so bad! Then after Knocked Loose got started they had technical difficulties that lasted over an hour without an update. Left hundreds of us sitting there just waiting for them to do something! I feel like they should give us a refund or a rescheduled show! We didn’t get home til 3 am because we waited for them to come back on. Love Knocked Loose but this was crazy!

by M. A. on 11/19/19House of Blues Chicago presented by Cricket Wireless - Chicago

Knocked loose never ceases to blow my mind. Had the privilege of being back stage and helped them blow up balloons for the show and they are some of the nicest people. Got the snot beat out of me in the pit. Couldn’t have asked for a better show.

This was my 5th time seeing KL this year and this show was insane. Every band on the bill was fantastic, security did a great job, and sound and lights were beautiful. Amazing job by the venue and the light team for KL.

Giant mosh swarm during all of knocked loose. I never saw them before, and I am so happy I did. I go to these shows alone, and this was the best one yet.

    Knocked Loose was AMAZING live!

    by K. T. on 10/28/19The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

If you like their music, I highly suggest seeing this band live. They sound exactly the same live as they do on their albums! The crowd for this show was definitely a little nuts but well worth it! They were incredible. Would definitely see them again in a heartbeat!

Knocked Loose Rocked My Socks Off

by Aliyah E. on 4/26/19Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore

This was my first time seeing Knocked Loose and I had the best time ever! I had been wanting to see K//L for a while now and I'm glad I finally got the chance to. Soundstage is my favorite venues anyway so, to see one of my favorite bands there made things even better. The staff/security is always friendly and helpful (I just wish the water bottles from the bar weren't $3...kind of a rip off) but I'm very grateful for ( now I don't know if she was with K//L's crew or security for Soundstage but...) this one lady that was super sweet to me and extremely helpful. She saw I was getting lightheaded and kept throwing me water bottles the whole night. That happened the last time I was at Soundstage too! In 2016, I saw Sleeping with Sirens and the whole time, security was throwing water to us. As someone who gets lightheaded at shows a lot, this is a blessing. Also, I had a whole person thrown on me and it knocked the wind out of me, security was quick to make sure I was okay and really chill. I can tell they like their jobs a lot especially because I saw the same security guards there that were at the SwS show 3 years prior. The same lady also was looking for me at the end of the K//L show just to give me the setlist. She thanked me for helping her move the speakers back after they shifted from stagedivers. Knocked Loose was so amazing and their setlist was mainly stuff off of "Laugh Tracks" with a pinch of "Pop Culture" mixed in. There wasn't a barricade and it made my experience at my 1st hardcore show even better. There was a huge mosh pit and stagedivers and I even got to stagedive during "Counting Worms"!! Bryan (vocalist for K//L) gave me the mic for a sec during a song and it felt great getting to interact with one of my favorite artists. I couldn't have asked for a better night and I hope they stop by Soundstage again. 10/10

    Best show in years

    by Steve-o on 4/22/19Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore

This was a hardcore show, with 5 bands. First of all, the venue, Baltimore Soundstage, was excellent. Two warmup bands served their purpose. But the 3 best known bands blew the roof off. Harm's Way was my personal favorite. Got to meet the singer at the merchandise table, very cool guy. Acacia Strain has been around awhile, and they showed why they have staying power. And the headliner, Knocked Loose, really got me, and the crowd, totally jacked. A great show, by any standard.

by Rypa on 4/15/19Chameleon Club - Lancaster

These guys kept the energy level high. They were engaging with the crowd and of course nice and heavy.
