Multi-platinum Gospel singer Kirk Franklin ended 2013 by appearing at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in Johannesburg, singing his hit "My Life is in Your Hands." It capped a relatively quiet year compared to the year prior, which saw Franklin on tour in support of his Grammy-winning 2011 release, Hello Fear, his fifth solo album. Fans who bought tickets to those concerts saw Franklin perform on a package tour dubbed The King's Men Tour with Donny McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Israel Houghton.
Over the course of his two-decade music career, Texas native Franklin has been broadening the reach and scope of Gospel music. He's brought a more contemporary spin to the genre, and has found success by infusing his music with elements of modern soul, R&B and hip-hop. Franklin's musical talent was evident from a very young age; he was offered his first record deal at age 7, but the aunt who raised him turned it down. He continued to sing in his church choir, and signed his first recording contract when he was in his early 20s, after organizing the 17-member choir Kirk Franklin and the Family in 1992. The band's first album topped the U.S. Gospel charts for 42 weeks. Franklin went solo in 2001, first scoring and producing the film soundtrack Kingdom Come. His solo debut album, 2002's The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin, was an immediate crossover hit, topping Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart while also hitting No. 1 on the Gospel chart.
It was outstanding! Great venue! Great food! Clean bathrooms! Nice place to seat and eat food!
the reunion tour was beyond amazing! every artist was on point, the band was on point, the background singers were out of this world. one of the best shows i’ve ever been to!
The Reunion was so exciting, holy, joyous, talented, and amazing. I really enjoyed myself and so did my husband. Thank you!
Because I had never been to dickies I didn't know about the seating I would have never got the seats that I got had I known I think the seating arrangement maps should be more readable more affordable seating for handicaps
From start to finish the concert was electrifying and an overall blessing! I loved to see the young and old, white and black people all praising and worshiping God on one accord! I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
I have been following Kirk Franklin since the nineties and he gives a great performance every time. The artist that he chooses to perform with him give 100%. Kirk is going to give you a great show every time his name is associated with it.
I had an amazing experience with my adult children at this concert. It was well worth the ticket price. The atmosphere was infectious! To be able to praise and worship in such a large venue was awesome!
They brought energy to everyone young old and in between. The concert was well worth every dollar I paid. They really put on an amazing spiritual holy ghost tour.I was not disappointed at all.
The best concert I ever been too in all my life and it was definitely worth the price especially for the seat I purchased
Listen!! This was the BEST concert I’ve seen thus far. From beginning to the end it was spectacular. I had the honor of being at the Nashville show while visiting family in Memphis. That was the best 3 hr drive there and back. I can’t say which artist I enjoyed most because everyone was at their best.
This was my first time at this venue! First of all, there wasn't enough signage to inform you about where to park! When we did finally park, there was about a three block walk, then climbing stairs to get into the venue. No signs to show how to enter if you're handicapped! Secondly, we had floor seating, but was not able to enjoy most of the concert because everyone in front of us stayed standing, nearly the entire time which made it very difficult to see the stage or the performers! Thirdly, I had never been to a concert where you paid for floor tickets and the seats were packed in there like sardines! Fourthly, the sound drowned out the words which made it difficult to understand, and they were not both on the same beat at times, but I am glad the words were on the screen so that I could keep up whenever I was able to see them! I so looked forward to this concert, but I was so disappointed!
This concert was everything and a great way to finish the year. It was one big gospel family renuion. Church was had!!
Baby that show was everything baby when I tell u they give us show is a understatement
This was the best concerts I've ever attended . The way they collaborated with each other but performed individually as well was awesome. It did not start on time but they didnt cheat us at all. By far one of the best concerts I've attended.
Literally the best concert I have ever been to!! Production was amazing, the emotion was there and it was a night that I didnt want to end! The vibes were insane, everybody in the stands were like family singing along, cracking jokes and dancing! Great environment!
The concert was great. The seats in the Arena are too small. No leg room. Very uncomfortable. But Kirk Franklin put together a wonderful tour.
Amazing night, I saw the show in Los Angeles with my hubby and then closed the tour in Fort Worth. It was a Holy Ghost, Praise experience.
Kirk and friends put on an excellent show and I would pay all over again to go back! The Clark sisters rocked the house alongside Tye.
INCREDIBLE NIGHT OF WORSHIP!!One of the BEST CONCERTS of the YEAR!!
What a concert the song selection was amazing Ali am still with no voice. I sang and I danced and it was the best ever. The popcorn how ever was cold and salty and we could not find the merchandize. Other than that it was an amazing evening.
