Multi-platinum Gospel singer Kirk Franklin ended 2013 by appearing at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in Johannesburg, singing his hit "My Life is in Your Hands." It capped a relatively quiet year compared to the year prior, which saw Franklin on tour in support of his Grammy-winning 2011 release, Hello Fear, his fifth solo album. Fans who bought tickets to those concerts saw Franklin perform on a package tour dubbed The King's Men Tour with Donny McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Israel Houghton.
Over the course of his two-decade music career, Texas native Franklin has been broadening the reach and scope of Gospel music. He's brought a more contemporary spin to the genre, and has found success by infusing his music with elements of modern soul, R&B and hip-hop. Franklin's musical talent was evident from a very young age; he was offered his first record deal at age 7, but the aunt who raised him turned it down. He continued to sing in his church choir, and signed his first recording contract when he was in his early 20s, after organizing the 17-member choir Kirk Franklin and the Family in 1992. The band's first album topped the U.S. Gospel charts for 42 weeks. Franklin went solo in 2001, first scoring and producing the film soundtrack Kingdom Come. His solo debut album, 2002's The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin, was an immediate crossover hit, topping Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart while also hitting No. 1 on the Gospel chart.
It was very informative and spirit filled event. I was not only blessed by the singing but also blessed by the information on heart disease. I really learned alot about myself and what steps I need to do healthwise to avoid high blood pressure and heart disease. Thank you Kirk for the blessing!!!

No matter where Kirk is at he always have the place bangin. To have the opportunity to dance and celebrate God with my teenage children is a memory i will cherish forever. Kirk we love and keep doing what God wants you to do. TO BRING OUR GENERATION TOGETHER TO BE ON ONE ACCORD. To acknowledge Him through music.
Everything about the concert was just great. I love gospel music and was glad that New Creation hosted the event. Would like to see more artists come into the area.
I thoroughly, truly enjoyed the concert. I've always wanted to experience being in the audience of hearing the dynamic "Awesome Kirk" and the group. The spiritual aire around me in the audience was a connecting of spirits, which the Lord, was using "Kirk" to deliver His message. And I must say , up close and personal was a wonderful experience seeing how Kirk interacted with the children. The message he gave through the ministry and praise of the Lord was very powerful indeed. James Fortune and group...enjoyed!!!! The children in ministry....great!!! The entire experience of the whole concert....a blessing to all who attend.

it was so great to see kirk franklin in houston. he is an awesome artist and i recommend his concert to everyone.
Kirk Franklin was a wonderful show. He was full of energy and just made the crowd want more and more. He sang his old songs and his latest releases. I only wish that he had the huge choir with him. However, even without the choir it was a great performance.
Everything about this event was great! The opening acts brought new flavor to the gospel scene with music and poetry. Kirk Franklin in my opinion always gives a great show he puts his all in it and he invites everyone in the spirit even the youth. It was a great show.
The concert was one of the best gospel shows I've ever experienced. He was so full of life and kept the audience involved. Yolanda was an added treat. The atmosphere was so spiritual and yet upbeat. I can't want to see him again. My only complaint was the parking.
Kirk Franklin is currently on tour to promote stroke prevention with the American Heart Association. The concert started at 7:30 with opening acts but it was almost 9 when Kirk got on stage. I thought "Great... he's going to only sing like 5 songs..." I mean, what more could you expect for $15 tickets? Well Kirk proved me wrong! He blew the stage up! He played a variety of songs (old & new) and really got the audience involved! He even had kids from the audience get on stage and dance! The quality was worth over 5x what I paid for tickets! Do NOT miss out on this!
Kirk Franklin and his back-up singers and band presented a high-energy, positive, thoroughly entertaining performance that left us smiling and rejoicing as we left the auditorium. I would definitely go see him again!
I have waited years to go to a Kirk Franklin concert. His music is so inspiring to all ages.
I was pleasantly pleased at the energy of Kirk Franklin's performance and his presentation of songs. The show was professional as well as personal. I especially enjoyed the way he interacted with the youth making them a part of his show. I wasn't personally a fan of Kirk Franklin himself although I enjoy his music until I attended the concert at New Creations Christian Fellowship Church. My hat is off to Kirk Franklin and may God continue to bless him.
Not your everyday Christian singer. I enjoyed seeing the teenagers around us singing every word of every song at the top of their lungs. I think if the churchs would include this type of music in their services they would see more kids relating to the church. He is the Amy Grant, Imperials and BJ Thomas of my generation.
I was truly bleed and inspired by this show. I had been waiting to see Kirk Franklin live. It was well worth the wait.
I went at the request of my 20 yr. old granddaughter and I had never seen Kirk Franklin. He was so good and his music and words were so inspiring, I could hardly stay in my seat. The children/youth choir from Arkansas was incredible. The entire event was so uplifting and we were made aware of the effects of maintaining good health for our people. The other entertainers add to the special outing which I experienced. Thank you for having the event and I was blessed for having attended.
This concert was more than I imagined it would be. I didn't want to go because I was tired and I had so much to do, but I went anyway. I would have been so upset if I would have missed this treat! I was utterly blessed and I would recommend anyone to go. Whether you're a Christian or not, you would have had an AMAZING time!! :)
