    Premium Toronto horse racing event

    by CCToronto on 8/23/23

Even though Covid seems to be behind us, the 2023 King's Plate was not as grand as previous. The ground area was much smaller, no vendors, no hat contest, just not as fun as pre-covid years. And this year's participants are less than last year. I hope they do bring the vendors, fun activities back next year, otherwise it doesn't justify the ticket price.

Too expensive and betting was far from optimal

by Adge on 8/24/22Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

Horse Racing itself was not terribly exciting for the $76 price tag for seats. Also felt like we were getting squeezed dry with food and drinks costing about $13 each. Even the brochure costed $5. Most exciting part was dressing up and betting. But the app took a half hour to set up and didn't even end up working. Then half the betting machines were out of order and one of them ate my friend's ticket so he had to spend an hour waiting for someone to come fix the machine and missed two races in the process. My recommendation would be to fix the betting app and ask people to download it in advance of the actual event. Then include the brochure in the price of tickets, and have people go up and down the aisles to sell food and drinks. That way instead of waiting in lines the whole time, we can actually enjoy more of the event.

    inaccurate info on ticket

by Rose on 8/24/22Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

when we arrived with our general admission ticket we realized when talking to queen's plate employees that the seat and section on the ticket was only a formality and we did not have a seat. This was a problem as one of our party had mobility issues and could not stand during the whole race . This information should be clearly noted on the ticket.

    Queen's Plate

by Stewart on 8/25/21Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

This event was poorly run from a Pandemic Perspective. We purchased expensive tickets at the finish line that were sold under the understanding that we would be separated by at least 6 feet from other attendees. As the day progressed, other unpaid attendees took up seats right behind us and right in front of us without supervision. It was a complete fiasco. Whoever managed this event should have shrunk wrapped or cable tied the unsold seats to prevent unpaid attendees from occupying those seats.

    Badly organized

by Julia on 8/25/21Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

Regarding the COVID situation, wearing masks was not enforced. Many people walking around without and security people never stopped them or reminded them. Very few concessions stands for food and drink. There was no room for social distancing. It was very crowded lining up fir the food/drinks. Not to mention, a bottled water cost $5,75 !

    Friendly crowd

by Sue on 8/25/21Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

We where supposed to get a trackside experience! First the price was to high for what we got. It was HOT not enough umbrella. All people complain finally they give us small umbrella. Mumm champagne was a sponsor and we couldn’t get any. At the race champagne is number one. The only thing we got was a burger and hard chips. $200. To much not even a regular souvenir glass. They where not ready for the crowd.

    once a year experience

    by abc1234abc on 7/4/18Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

I go to the QP year after year for the horse race which was pretty good this year. I would prefer it to be held on a Sunday as in the past. The rest of the event I don't participate in and is kind of annoying but that is what attracts the big crowd. $80 though is way too pricey. I do like the Kentucky Derby copy of encouraging people to dress up. All ages did dress up in their finery and it added to the event

    Woodbine is an amazing venue!

by ScotCMich on 7/4/18Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

The heat was unbearable, but given the weather conditions, this track was in excellent shape and the fans were dressed up with many hats. The atmosphere was great and most people stayed in the AC, so there was plenty of room to move around in the 4th floor covered grandstand out of the sun.

    Was horrible

    by Ottawa123 on 7/6/16Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

This event was the worst. Ever we have gone for the last 4 years this year was the worst. Taking away the seating outside.... the picnic tables .. was the worst thing they could have done. We will not be returning next year cuz the tables were removed and we have to pay to stand . This will not happen . This is the worst Queens plate ever .

    upsetting

    by Jenni209 on 7/6/16Woodbine Racetrack - Toronto

As a returning costumer every year for the Queens plate I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the way it was run this year. First, the tickets were not mailed to the home as previous years, which added to the chaos at the will call area, in order to avoid wasting time in line, I went out of my way to pick up my tickets early. Second, I was disappointed that even though my tickets were in the boxed area, I had to present my ticket every time I entered the Champion area on the 3rd level, this become increasingly infuriating, when others who were 1 seat over were given lanyards. Lanyards were used preciously in the past for the entire section and I had no complaints. I know I’m not the only one frustrated by showing my ticket each time, to different staff, because I overheard several other arguments of frustrations between staff and patron. Third, I was extremely upset at my ticket location. I purchased boxed seats in January on the finished line. I can’t express how angry I was when we were showed our seats with a 100% obstructed view of the finish line. The media box blocked everything. It ruined the whole experience for me. Positively, I enjoyed the races and the concert series very much and look forward to who the headliner will be next year.
