King Princess in Concert
Mikaela Straus was born to rock - and shock. The Brooklyn-born vocalist, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer was surrounded by music as a kid. While her mom worked in fashion, her dad took on the role of recording engineer and owner of Brooklyn's Mission Sound, a studio located in their house. There, Straus learned guitar, bass, piano, drums, and production techniques. She also listened to a lot of hard rock, from Led Zeppelin to Jack White.
By the time she was 11 years old, she had the attention of Virgin Records - but she wasn't quite ready for a record deal yet. Fast forward a few years, and Straus was on her way to the west coast, where she began studying at USC's Thornton School of Music. Only a year into her program, she was ready to pursue music full-time, so she decided to drop out. It turned out to be a smart move.
At just 19 years old, her world changed. As King Princess, she would not only play with the concept of gender but the idea of pop music itself - and it quickly caught on. She released her debut single, "1950," in February 2018 on Mark Ronson's Zelig Recordings label. With her breathy, soulful vocals slinking over simmering electro-pop, it made its way onto the U.S. Alternative charts, peaking at No. 17, and was soon hailed as one of the year's great queer love anthems.
Not long after, she followed up with the sultry "Talia" and then her debut EP, 'Make My Bed.' In support of that release, she played select U.S. dates in the summer, and by November 2018, she made even bigger waves in the world of pop with the release of breezy and bold single "P*ssy is God."
Even without a full-length album to her name, King Princess was quick to hit the touring circuit, already headlining shows throughout Australia and New Zealand in 2018 before kicking off her first major North American tour in 2019.
This was my first time at HOB and it was great! Inbetween the opener and King Princess they were handing out cups of water which was sweet especially since i know a lot of venues usually just squirt sips of water in ur mouth. The confetti at the end was awesome! Visuals were great but at times it felt like I couldn’t hear King Princess, not sure if they needed to up her mic or not. Overall an amazing time :)
KP was an absolutely amazing show. KP put on the best performance I've seen in a while and the crowd was very into it. Would highly recommend!
King Princess is an absolutely amazing performer. She is fantastic; that experience was ethereal, her presence was godly, and her talent is unreal for someone who is touring with her debut album. Totally recommend—I genuinely felt like such a changed person after that concert. She is stunning and has such good energy and a warm vibe. So funny too.
she’s an absolutely incredible performer!! a natural, really, and so so good live. she knows how to work the stage and show her personality during the concert, which is one of the reasons i love going to concerts! it’s so fun to get to know my favorite artists better, and i definitely was not disappointed with KP’s performance!! the world needs more people like her to repping the LGBTQ community, i’m so thankful she’s the performer and person she is!!
King Princess is a great performer who knows how to connect with the audience. Venue was good, but cold.
That was the best thing I’ve ever done; the concert was incredible and i have ascended to another realm. Id give it 420 stars if I could :)
We didn’t get in until after the entire first act was over. While the headliner was good, it was apparent more people than anticipated showed up. I went to King Princess on 2.7
it was literally amazing, extremely gay (as expected and hoped), the venue made me throw out my purse tho cuz it was too big, i thought it would be little enough, but its no big deal and all my stuff fit in my pocket. 10/10 would see king princess again. id throw all my purses away for her if i needed too.
I had the VIP package and it was honestly the most perfect and organized night! The show was so great and I’m still thinking about it days later! KP is the biggest sweetheart, down to earth, and puts on the BEST show! 10/10 would recommend!

She was everything I excepted her to be AND MORE! She is going to blow up after more people see her on tour with Harry & I’m gonna proudly say I saw her in the beginning.
Wow! I got a VIP Meet and Greet pass for her Wiltern show, and all I can say is she's the most nicest and sweetest person. She came towards us and gave us a greeting and was talking to some girls at the front. You had 2 poses to choose with her picture of her. I got merch without a crowd and I got front row standing spots. She sounds exactly like her albums. The bad, the keys, and guitar everything was perfect. She's is an energetic performer. I will be going to a King Princess concert for the rest of her career.
I loved watching King Princess perform. She is unapologetically herself and was so much fun to watch on stage. Her voice sounds as pretty as it does when I listen to her on Spotify!

King Princess was awesome. Very loud and tons energy. Long set she played also. Was super fun show. Very nice venue to see show at. Fox theater is the best place in Oakland!!!!
I am a huge KP fan, so naturally, getting there at 4pm and waiting 3hrs was 100% worth the front row view I got. Mikaela did absolutely amazing (and so did girlpool). And the concert was a week ago and I still haven’t stopped talking about it.

the show was amazing. such good vibes on stage and she looked amazing. the only thing I didn’t like about the show is that there was this girl behind me who wouldn’t stop crying and pushing me into the rails.
She was everything I needed and more than I expected. Mikaela sang every song she's come out with and it was a mind blowing experience. The venue itself was big and beautiful. It's surrounded by restaurants. My personal favorite is Mad Rex and it's right next to the Fillmore. In front of the stage, the crew passed back cups of water in between sets. This was the best concert I've been to and it was because of Mikaela and the crew at the Fillmore.
king princess is lovely live (her voice is beautiful). she was v tipsy, and fun and interactive with the crowd. i loved it! a queer lady's dream come true
