    Solid show, non-ideal venue

by Anonymous on 6/18/17Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Kevin Spacey delivered a strong performance and the material was interesting. The acoustics, however, were not so good and further deteriorated by the frequent airplanes overhead

    No place for a play

by w1ckedg1rl on 6/18/17Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Much as we like Kevin Spacey as a performer, we were disappointed at this performance. He was terrific in the first act despite the noise of planes overhead. But in the second act his mic was not working well and it was hard to hear him and the second act fell short

Darrow Poor Value at Ashe Stadium

by DaylamiNYC on 6/18/17Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Kevin Spacey is a national treasure. With that out of the way, let's focus on why his one man show at Arthur Ashe Stadium was a disappointment: 1. Airplanes flying over every few minutes. 2. Writing not great. The play felt like disjointed anecdotes with no real emotion--which is saying something given the star. 2a. Staging is odd. Spacey walks around and takes his jacket off and on for no apparent reason. 3. Pictures displayed on large screens above the stage from TV cameras in the stadium had far too wide a shot (likely because the camera operators have never had a play there before; it needed to be tight shots of Spacey's face). 4. Sound in the cavernous space reverberated and occasionally broke up due to some technical issue. 5. The play started 22 minutes after the stated time. Intermission lasted another 24 minutes. Too late and too long.

    Plane annoying

by Caryh on 6/18/17Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

What an awful venue for a play! If shakespeare rose from the dead and performed hamlet there, i wouldn't go again. The sound was poor in terms of echo to begin with, and then there were the constant planes. I didn't ask but felt entitled to a refund. The play was not particularly well written: i got no new insight into darrow and wondered about things left out and rushed past. Kevin spacey did the best you could with this, but it wasn't like seeing him in the iceman cometh (to say the least). It was a disappointing event.

Kevin Spacey was incredible. An important show for all audiences in our current political climate.
