The idea of using Arthur Ashe stadium for a one-may play turned out to be terrible. First, it was way to large to be in any way "intimate." Second, the airplane noise was intolerable. Third, unlike a big musical event where you don't really need to hear the words, this was just not a good way to present the ideas in the play. Also, the food concessions were way to understocked.
The play itself, meanwhile, had many shortcomings. It seemed to be a very over-simplified version of Darrow's very complicated life. Mr. Spacey, who tried very hard to make it seem real, did too many things that didn't seem to make sense in terms of how he picked up and moved stuff, dressed and undressed, etc. It simply was not well thought out.
