Where to begin..I guess the first thing that comes to mind is that my father is from Hazard and we have family in the Hazard area, so it was for a cause close to my heart.
The line-up was a can’t miss! Chris Stapleton and Dwight Yoakum are two of the best! I have seen Chris as an opening act so I was excited to see him as a headliner.. he is definitely one of my favorites. And I’ve seen Dwight a couple of times, he is always fantastic but I felt he was the best I’ve ever seen him!
But the clincher for me was Tyler Childers. He was the main reason I wanted to go. I absolutely love him and his music and have been dying to see him live! He’s a little illusive, you know;) and let me tell you, he did NOT disappoint... I am a true fan!! I was in tears.
And speaking of tears..the surprise guests, Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless.. they are legends. I love them both. But Patty singing You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive truly hit my heart. I was doing the ugly cry, I was literally sobbing.
And the audience singing along to all of their great songs was truly a magical experience. It will go down as one of the best concert experiences of my life. Thank you, Chris Stapleton for putting this together!
