KELLER WILLIAMS IN CONCERT:

Jam master Keller Williams is the kind of performer who's so rare and so multitalented audiences will be raving about him for years to come. In concert Williams bounces around the stage while conjuring up infectious grooves one sound at a time through virtuosic looping -- a technique that allows him to recreate the sound of a full band onstage by crafting intricate arrangements with a variety of instruments. It's a skill that he's perfected over the course of his nearly 25-year career, and it's as mesmerizing as ever during his unmissable performances. Whether he's playing alone or with one of his several backing bands, ticket buyers are treated to high-energy, feel-good shows that showcase Williams' quirky songwriting, joyous stage persona, and masterful musicianship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Since first appearing on the scene in the early '90s, Virginia native Keller Williams has earned a glowing reputation as a one-man jam band. Williams is a self-taught musician who grew up heavily influenced by artists like The Grateful Dead and guitar virtuoso Michael Hedges, and by genres ranging from bluegrass and reggae to electronica. Throughout his career Williams has fused all of those inspirations together to create genre-bending music that is astoundingly innovative. He's toured with several popular jam bands -- including Umphrey's McGee, Yonder Mountain String Band, and The String Cheese Incident -- and wowed crowds at festivals like Bonnarroo, AllGood, and Rothbury. Beginning with his 1995 debut album Freek, Williams has made more than 20 records, both as a solo artist and as a collaborator with acts such as The Travelin' McCourys, More Than A Little, The String Cheese Incident, and The Keels. With an ever-growing fanbase and tons of talent to spare, Keller Williams is a thrilling live act concertgoers won't want to miss.

I liked it, "More Than a Little"

by ChanceJohnson on 3/8/14Duling Hall - Jackson

Me and my pregnant wife thoroughly enjoyed the show and the atmosphere as Keller was Keller! He is superbly talented, as he can play anything! I really would love to see keller accept and destroy the challenge of anyone giving him an object that makes any kind of noise, and telling him he can't play music with that. Then, It would be wild to see Mr. Williams showing he can truly make music come from anything. As always I was in aw! Then, we got "Funked" as the band joined Keller on stage. It was different from any Keller Williams show I've attended, but undoubtably good, because my long weeknight seemed extremely short. That is, until work came the next morning and I was sore from dancing. This isn't like me. I am not a dancer of any kind, unless what I am listening to makes me one! Long story short; I loved it!

    Mixed Review

    by Murph2727 on 10/31/13The Paramount - Huntington

Seeing a show at the Paramount in Huntington may not be the best for true fans of a performer. Because of the general admission section and the open bars on either side of the floor, it isn't ideal to hear the musicians. Keller Williams is a novel act and enjoyable with a good sense of humor. Jake Shimabukuro is a true star. He does things with an ukulele that seem impossible. Most of his usual pleasant onstage demeanor was lost on the heavy drinking crowd. His more artistic songs were partially obscured by the crowd noise. Only when he went into his more rock and electric pieces did the crowd's din subside. My opinion is that if you want to see either artist, they are worth seeing, but find a better venue.

Jake Shimabukuro - ukelele > Hendrix - guitar

    by Surf21 on 10/29/13The Paramount - Huntington

Jake blew away Keller. Why Keller got any stage time I don't know. Jake has a stage persona that brings him close to his audience. He takes time to meet the fans after the show and signs items and poses for pictures. What he can do with the ukelele was what Hendrix could do with a guitar. Excellent show which included Dragons, Ukelele Five O, covers of While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George Harrison), Rolling In The Deep (Adele), Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) and Over The Rainbow. The only song missing was Freebird (when I asked for it he opted for Over The Rainbow)

    keller ripped!

by walldini on 7/8/13The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

Keller Williams has been touring the country for years and every time he comes around it is obvious that he is forever adapting. With his roots in rock, folk, and bluegrass Keller performs a variety of songs both quirky originals and classic songs from his vast musical memory. Staying with the sign of the times his electronic influence has increased, offering a young dance hall approach to the music. His looping ability allows him to perform songs with just him and his sound guy involved. Without the knowledge of his original works may be a hindrance, the musical technique and showmanship is worth the price of addmision alone.

    Keller Enjoys Self

by JABoooo on 4/22/13Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

KW came onto the stage with a sober smile and all were ready to shave the beards off the well cleaned modern freak. With skill, humour, good vibes KW got the ball rolling early and played through, entertaining his fans and earning his dough. He has plenty dough these days. And we are happy to listen. The funk was a welcomed bonus- wish he would play off his kids album, why not?

Guy has talent, but gets boring after a while

by Renut on 3/18/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Never saw Keller Williams before but liked what my son had played for me on cd so went to concert. Problem was sound was horrible. Not sure if it was venue or his engineer. Also not fond of standing only venues especially when half the audience is drunk before they get there. Anyhow It was fascinating to hear his music live and experience his energy, but the poor sound and noisy crowd detracted. After the first few songs it all started to sound the same and got boring. Left after first set. Glad I only paid $20 for ticket.

    An unforgettable show

by dcrising on 3/17/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I had only listened to Keller Williams before hand sporadically but I was so impressed by his show. Such a higher amount of envy for his music and play style. The event was on time and the venue was packed. Definitely a very good live show and very recommended.

    Keller brought it hard!!

by ETDawg on 3/14/13Tipitina's - New Orleans

Keller has been a favorite of mine since 2002 and has been around for over 20 years. While heavy on acoustic sounds and rhythms, he can loop tons of instruments and throw a massive dance party in a matter of minutes. Also, he's a really nice guy and goes out of his way for his fans. Just go see him live!! You will not be disappointed, even if you've seen him 40+ times like me.

That 1 Guy with Keller was AMAZING!

by LauraFlutterby on 1/2/13The National - Richmond

Had a blast watching That 1 Guy open for Keller. Never seen him live and it was incredible. Keller is always fun. Loved hoopin in the venue too!! VIP ticket option needs to be added to individual shows, though. I would have paid to be upgraded and couldn't. I had a blast, don't get me wrong. The manager event approved my hula hooping but they wouldn't open the second floor so there was barely room to dance at one point. Please add individual VIP show tickets to ticketmaster!

Keller Williams at State Theatre GREAT

by Rick0101 on 11/22/12State Theatre - St Petersberg FL

Great Show!! Keller has a unique style of music and is the looper king. For those not familiar with his music, Youtube is your friend. Basically, he plays a groove on the guitar, records it plays it back while adding a bass line, then adds percussion etc...Fun stuff. Played two good long sets. I had read several reviews on the venue, State Theatre in St Pete. The reviewers pretty much liked the place, a converted movie theater, but all gave dire warnings on the bathrooms. Management must have read the reviews. They were pretty much unremarkable. (which is a good thing)
