Great music, perfect setting, the best crowd. I am planning on going next year.
Totally wonderful...only issue was...shoulda gotten seats closer to the stage. A family with little kids was sitting right in front of us...little kids were understandbly restless and were up and down in their seats a lot....pretty distracting. Nevertheless, it was an awesome experience and with one of my very favorite Hawaiian artists.
I like Keali'i's music. Tonight it was a little flat and drawn out. I understand he had the flu, and it showed. It would most surely been better if he was well which the quality of his voice would have sounded better and maybe he would have played a few more of his great songs. But overall it was a very enjoyable evening for my wife and I.
He is yet to be disappointing. Didn't need an intermission and kept everyone wanting more.
Keali'i is a wonderful, spiritual performer that always makes me feel like I am home in Hawaii through his songs, humor and wonderful dancers. His music is powerful and his dancers are always so graceful and beautiful to watch. I see him everytime he comes to San Diego.
What a great venue! Humphreys Concerts By the Bay was the perfect setting for Keali'i's concert! The weather was ready for an amazing singer to enchance the night along! I've been a huge fan since his 1st CD! Great place,Amazing singer,Memorable night!
Hearing Maunaleo alone is worth the ticket price to me and he nailed it. He admittedly was overcoming flu symptoms but was not a big problem. Only thing I thought could be improved was soundwise. The twelve-string overpowered his voice throughout and one song they could not use microphones for whatever but sounded great in the audience. All in all I was satified. He does put on a good show.
Keali'i Reichel gives a very intimate performance and exudes the real Hawaii spirit of aloha. His back-up singers, dancers, and band are very talented. We did miss his hula segment this year, but we think he was not feeling totally energetic because of illness. Despite that, he gave his all to the audience. We will definitely look for another show.
Great as always. Even though he was under the weather, his performance was heartfelt.
This was the finest concert, of any type, I've attended. Humphery's is the ultimate venue for Keali'i's music. He was awsome! The dancers were fun to watch, and added a special demension to the show. Could not have been better!!!
Unfortunately, Keali'i was under the weather and performed for little over an hour. Wishing it was longer since many of his famous songs I expected to hear were not sung. But, for the short time he did sing, he is a gifted performer.
Keali'i Reichel gave an exquisite performance at Humphrey's by the Bay last evening. Reichel's melodious voice was the perfect complement to the beautiful dancing displayed by his hula dance troop. The combination of music and dance kept all eyes riveted on the stage. He briefly chatted about his music and travels between numbers making the audience feel like they were his old friends. At one point he and back-up singers walked into the audience singing an acappella rendition of "Wanting Memories" without microphones. Even though Reichel apologized for his voice which he claimed was not at its best because of a bout of "the oinky kind of flu", I could find no fault in his voice. All in all, the show was an audio and visual feast that left the audience longing for the Islands.
This was a great concert.....a bit short, but great music and he was charming!!
Due to the fact that Kealii Reichel was ill his performance should have been rescheduled. I was very disappointed in the show. I paid an extremely high price for the dinner and tickets and would have rather seen him at his best. I know he was not feeling well and did his best under the circumstances but it was not an outstanding show.
His best show I've seen since he's been performing at Humpherys. We look forward to attending his shows, If you want to see and hear true hawaiian music and dance don't miss Keali'i Reichel.
great show as always even though keaili was sick with the flu.
His show wax great. He is very enetertaining his dancers are wonderful and he has the most amazing voice.
Keali`i Reichel again came and conquered. Even though he had a bit of the flu he performed as well as any other time I had seen him in concert. I am from Lahaina, Maui and have watched him grow in both the hula world and the entertainment business. Keali`i does not dissapoint his audience. He truly is one of our (Hawai`i) greatest entertainers ever produced from Hawai`i. Keali`i's band and back up singers are top knotch. Amazing to the listeners ear. Keali'i opened up with a Kahiko set that was very much appreciated to see. For us Islanders who live on the mainland now, it makes us proud to be Hawaiian. His dancers were near flawless with the exception of a mistake during one of my favorite Keali`i songs "Kananaka" however, it was great to see they were only human and not papercutter hula dancers, which made them even better. When his dancers danced the Merrie Monarch song they danced to in competition, they were flawless. Speaking of flawless, Keali`i's cousin, Henohea Kane danced, she showed why she became Miss Aloha 2009. Not only was she as graceful as graceful could be, she showed her inner beauty was matched by her outer beauty. Truly an awesome performance. Definitley 5 stars.
Great combination of chant, traditional, and beautiful hula. Lots of new and not so recongnizablesongs, medleys. We'll be back!
