About

Kany García In Concert

Honesty, credibility, and soulfulness are the hallmarks of world-class Latin pop star Kany García. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has been a potent presence in Latin music since 2007, when her debut album 'Cualquier Día' (Any Day) generated four hit singles, including "Hoy Ya Me Voy" (Today I'm Going), on Billboard's Latin charts and earned her Latin Grammy awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Album and Best New Artist.

García's robust voice and guitar playing have only grown stronger over a series of albums, all written or co-written by her, that mix passionate romantic tracks and confessional sincerity with a concern for social issues such as domestic violence. The conservatory-trained artist has also written tracks for Ha*Ash, Ednita Nazario, Pedro Capó, and Chayanne.

Born in 1982 to a former Catholic priest and a choir director, Encarnita "Kany" García de Jesús almost missed out on having any career at all when she nearly died in a car accident shortly after being accepted as a contestant on Puerto Rico's televised vocal competition 'Objetivo Fama.'

García's second album, 'Boleto de Entrada' (Entry Ticket), concentrated on pop, rock, and balladry. The track "Para Volver a Amar" (To Love Again) became the theme song of an anti-sexual violence campaign in Puerto Rico, and her 2011 Christmas song "Yo No Tengo Nah" (I Don't Have Nothing) benefited a mental-health institute. Her 2012 release, 'Kany García,' debuted at the top of Puerto Rico's pop chart with its surprising assortment of plena, bomba, and cumbia tunes.

A few months before releasing her joyfully optimistic hit album 'Limonada' in 2016, García bravely announced that she was leaving her guitarist husband for a same-sex relationship with her personal trainer. "In the world we live in, anyone who says it wasn't scary to talk about the subject is lying," she said two years later while discussing her new release 'Soy Yo' (I Am Me).

By speaking her truth, both on recordings and off, Kany has become a respected pillar of Latin pop power, with a personal brand that extends to a line of jeans for girls and a citrus-oriented perfume called "Up." But it's her intimate and relatable music that makes Kany García nothing less than the Latina Joni Mitchell.

Over the course of her career, Kany Garcia has brought venues such as the House of Blues (Dallas) and The Summit (Denver) to capacity.

Kany was fantastic, the venue not so much

by Betty on 10/4/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

After waiting outside the venue for 2 hours they opened the doors right at Ticket time ( which we thought it was concert time) then waited another 2 hours to see Kany. It was not advertised that she had an opener, and it was disappointing to wait even longer because of it. Kany herself, was amazing! She is just fantastic. I wish she would play at the Arena though. As this placed was packed and the crowd was unfortunately not nice, I tried going to the restroom before she even started to play and the people standing at the stairs would not let you go through, they flat out told me I can’t go to the restroom… are you kidding me? After waiting for 4 hours I shouldn’t have the need to use a restroom? I would say that is a venue issue as stairs and walkways are usually kept clear of guests on concerts, but it wasn’t the case here. And the people holding the stairs spots were not nice at all.

    Great artist terrible venue

by Val on 10/3/23Miami Beach Bandshell - Miami Beach

Great artist with amazing voice but terrible venue for a concert experience vs the price. The production was poor, Sound was spotty, when Kanny talks was like she was mumble. Miami have way better intimate venue concerts for a magnifican artist like her!

    Love Her, Dislike Venue

by Maria on 10/3/23Miami Beach Bandshell - Miami Beach

I love Kany Garcia and was glad she was in town. However, the venue was just not right for her. I even called the venue PRIOR to purchasing my tickets to confirm there will be first-come-first-served seating, it was GA; venue said YES. I was very disappointed, and it was hard to enjoy her concert; rain is ok, standing up for so long, not cool...especially for tickets over $200. I will definitely not attend if I have to stand up for so long. Sorry it does reflect on the artist, hope management realizes how bad of a decision this was.

    Awesome

by desi22ba on 9/29/23Palladium Times Square - New York City

She is extremely talented, I've never seen her before but this time she was worth it. The backstage wasn't really good 😕. She could perfectly be in a bigger place. People who paid more saw less.

by RA on 9/28/23Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Taking in consideration the place was too small and overbooked, the concert was awesome. will definitely attend another of her concerts, but not a the Liberty Arts Theater. the place is not appropriate for that type of concerts.
