About

K FLAY IN CONCERT:

Rising female rapper K Flay is not your everyday hip hop hopeful. The self-taught producer and songstress is a tomboy and a Stanford alum -- two things you don't see every day often among the reigning pack of racy female MCs -- and her music is just as unique thanks to her effortless ability to move from singing to rapping and back again. She built a devoted regional following in the mid-'00s with a series of self-released mixtapes, and in 2014 she took her sound to the masses with her debut album Life As A Dog. At her live shows K Flay approaches catchy tracks like "Make Me Fade" and "The Cops" with the ease and confidence fans have come to love from her recordings, delivering a laid-back and entirely original hip hop concert experience that blends the best of rap, rock, and electronic music.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

K Flay, aka Kristine Meredith Flaherty, was born in the bucolic Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Illinois, where she was raised by a musical family. After high school she moved to California to attend Stanford University, and during her freshman year there she experienced two life-altering events. The first was receiving news that her father -- a music lover and skilled guitarist -- had passed away unexpectedly. The second was the creation of her first rap track "Blingity Blang Blang", a parody song that she made to amuse her friends. The gag led to the realization that she liked writing music, and by year's end she had written several more songs as a tribute to her father. She taught herself to produce tracks on the computer and began performing live, and in her junior year she made her debut as K Flay with the mixtape Suburban Rap Queen. She followed up in 2009 with the Mashed Potatoes mixtape, and in 2010 she dropped the K Flay EP. Two more solid EPs and extensive regional touring followed in the early '10s, and in 2014 she made her official studio debut with the album Life As A Dog. The record peaked at No. 2 on the Heatseekers chart and No. 14 on the Rap chart, receiving praise from critics and earning her a national fanbase. Following the record's release K Flay proved herself the real deal with a string of self-assured performances on tour, leaving little doubt in fans' minds that she's got big things on the horizon.

  • A M A Z I N G

by Slanderfan on 10/3/19The Fillmore Charlotte presented by Cricket Wireless - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

We were front row to see her and it was the absolute most incredible experience I’ve ever had. The venue was great, the artists were great. Absolutely perfect.

  • A nice night out

by Venue been there on 9/29/19Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

You get 2 warm up bands and a headliner for the ticket price. All three had a mix of prerecorded sound effects and loops, accessing them with keyboards and mixers to supplement their vocals and instruments. K Flay gave you what you wanted. She’s touring a pretty solid album and wound it up with Blood in the cut. Well engineered show. The drummer in the middle act held his own, K Flay’s drummer kept the time while changing songs every 3 minutes or so. Those two guys were the work horses of the show. Nice to see everyone bringing real instruments into it instead of just using a DJ. Totally entertaining, don’t read into it to much, it’s a good time.

  • Best Concert Ever

    by H. T. on 9/10/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

The Fox in Oakland is fabulous venue that is GA but with multiple levels so you can get as close as you want, even if you show up late. The openers to this show were phenomenal, and the main act, K. Flay did not disappoint. Her set, lighting, and sound were perfect. She gave a heartfelt performance of songs spanning several albums, but focusing those from her most recent album, Solutions, which sound even better in person. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

  • Kick Ass as Always

    by Heather F on 9/10/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

    K. Flat outs in a high energy kick ass show. Every performance is as high energy as the last. She and her band mates always look like they are having the time of their lives and would rather be no other place. I highly recommend her fantastic shows!

  • Show of the year

    by M. S. on 9/10/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

  • K.Flay rocked it

by E. on 6/15/19Bogart's presented by Cricket Wireless - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Kflay never disappoints, always a badass performer whom i love to watch. Bogarts itself has stepped it up as a nice intimate venue. The 2 opening bands were shocking though, not at all in the kflay genera or vibe, both brand new sub par performances. They played longer than she did! I was sad that kflay ended at like 10:35pm, figured she at least come back on until 11pm, especially to make up for the openers.

  • Best Concert I've Been To

by Jenn on 6/15/19Bogart's presented by Cricket Wireless - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing experience. My husband has never been to a concert. I've been to probably about ten total. We both really like K. Flay and this concert was by far one of the best performances by an artist I've seen so far. It is so much fun to see that she is just as into her music as the fans are! Her energy is absolutely contagious. I hope she comes back to Cincinnati soon because I will make sure we have tickets every time!

  • My wife dragged me

by Grazhopper on 3/28/1820th Century Theater - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

My wife loves K Flay. I’m more of a papa roach, highly suspect, shinedown, etc fan. BUT! For only knowing a few of her songs, the show was powerful and full of energy. Worth every penny! Now I have several of her songs on my play list. Getting ready for the next time she comes to town. Now I know why the show sold out.

Loved the K Flay show at the Underground Fillmore. I can’t say enough on how great the sound was and the venue itself is super nice.

  • Don't miss her!

by SWJW on 3/27/18The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

K Flay put on an amazing show... She sounds just like her CD and connected with the crowd enough to become endearing. The venue was small and intimate and I love that she played there. It was a top 10 experience.

  • Amazing show!

by oxymonk on 3/26/18The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. K. Flay is amazing live. We met her before the show and she was super nice to me and my son. Yungblud was also a ton of fun.

  • K.Flay is magic!!!!!

by ReneeNee on 3/26/18The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The show was electric and so was the crowd. Kristine always brings it and leaves it all out on the stage. We were all drenched in sweat and it was pure bliss. This was Flay show #3 for me and I will definitely see her again.

  • Amazing

    by Abuelito777 on 3/26/18The Underground - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

K Flay is amazing, I’ve been to many shows but she definitely knows how to put on a show. The only thing I would complain about is how drunk some people were allowed to get and they were getting rowdy, there was no security by the barricade, which is where these people kept pushing and shoving others or pulling them and arguing with people when they were drunk out of their mind. But other than that it was an amazing show.

  • Amazing

Unforgettable. She is my favorite artist that I’ve found in a long time and she was amazing.

  • Excellent show!

by LunabellaNY on 3/23/18Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

    K. Flay gives an amazingly energized performance from beginning to end. You will not leave disappointed. The venue is also smaller so it gives you a good experience no matter where you are standing. I would also definitely recommend a VIP package for her. The meet and greet capped of an unforgettable night plus you get a private acoustic performance and early entry to ensure you get a great spot!

  • K. Flay was amazing!!!!!

by Imadbfan on 2/23/18The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The only bad thing was during the meet and greet, you were ushered in and ushered out quickly. I would liked to have a couple of minutes to talk with her. Besides that she was awesome.

  • K.flay rocked!

    by Kona2795 on 2/1/18The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the venue! Sir Sly put on a great show! K.flay rocked the show! She is a kick ass singer! I would love to see both acts again!

  • by Anonymous on 2/1/18The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

K Flay was fantastic and the venue was a cool space. The check in process could have gone a bit smoother at the meet and greet and drink prices were on the high side, but those minor things don't change that it was a great night overall.
