    Hannibal Buress is awesome!

by DaveDWM on 10/6/15Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

Came from Erie, PA mainly to see Hannibal. It was well worth the trip. The show was great and Hannibal was hilarious as usual. I'd definitely see him perform again.

    Doug loves movies

by Anonymous on 10/6/15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

The whole show was hilarious from beggining to end. Doug chose the most perfect guests. The games and jokes had me laughing non-stop. The show was chill and Doug includes the audience in several ways, which gave the already funny show extra dimensions.

Grace Helbig is simply the greatest!

by streetcar509 on 9/30/15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Great podcast recording session with a hilarious guest and an equally funny host. The venue however, left a lot to be desired. It was out of the way, not easily accessible, and there was nothing to do around the exposition area. There were no restaurants or stores.

Cashing In with TV Miller won't cash me out a refu

by murrayjc1981 on 9/30/15The Royal Theatre - Toronto

I had to clue it would be a podcast with an unfunny bald guy named Cash who is obnoxious. I thought TJ Miller was going onstage and recording it. That beino said the material covered was not funny at all. I never walked out of a show early before so this was my first. I saw three shows that day at the Just For Laughs festival and regret seeing this The seats are terrible at this theater also

Fantastic event! The pass allows you unlimited access to multiple comedy shows. I went to see Tim Minchin who was utterly amazing! My favorite new find at this event-Cameron Esposito! Can't wait for next year.

Tim Minchin was fantastic; JFL not so much

by ralija on 9/30/14Miscellaneous Venues Inside Toronto - Toronto

I had waited about six years to see Australian comedian Tim Minchin play live somewhere, and when I found out he'd be coming to the JFL42 comedy festival, I leaped at the chance to go. Luckily I was so excited to see him play that I was blinded to many other things that weekend, because the JFL42 pass system was abysmal, as was the line-up process at the door. I only wanted to see one person, and although I get the incentive to turn in your credits for a chance to see someone else, it would have been much more efficient to operate like a regular concert, with a flat fee for one performer, and so on. And then if you wanted to turn in your credits later, fine, but don't make a pass system where everything is finicky and not very smooth to reserve seats and tickets. Also, when I was finally at the Queen Elizabeth Theater, I lined up two hours in advance to see Tim play, so I could get a good seat. But when the doors finally opened, the event staff couldn't prevent people from cutting in line, which was unfair to the people who had waited there that long. They didn't do anything to help ease the crowding situation, which got bad enough to the point where someone could gotten hurt — we all sprinted in the doors because the staff had no line system going on. It was very poorly organized and not well executed either.

Didn't expect to enjoy his stand up as much as I did but definitely worth it!

    JFL42 was a blast!

by Lotsalaffs on 10/7/13Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

At first, I didn't like the idea of having to buy a pass to see one show but after having tried it, I loved it. My husband and I bought VIP passes and saw all three headliners and about 10 other shows during the week. Some were so-so (Janeane Garofalo, Sarah Silverman) and others were great (Bill Burr, Anthony Jeselnik, John Mulaney, Aziz Ansari, Family Guy). Will definitely do it again next year!

FAMILY GUY LIVE - BEST NIGHT EVER!

by Publicola on 10/1/13Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

I found our about this event from the Family Guy Facebook page, and knew immediately I wanted to go. Family Guy is my absolute favorite show ever, and since I only live about 8 hours away, it was possible for me to go. I bought the highest tier ticket available, since I wanted a good seat, and I have no complaints about the seating. I was about 15 yards from the stage, and since the floor was sloped, I had an unobstructed view despite being in the second row of my section. The show began at 7:15, and continued for approximately two hours. Of the show, I can only sing the highest praises. The entire main cast was there - Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Seth Green, Mike Henry - with John Viener and Danny Smith. (Several other writers came out during the brief Q&A at the end, but I unfortunately can't remember their names). The show included a read-through of a an episode filmed but not yet aired; after finishing each act, the cast would sing some songs from the show. The energy of the cast was astounding - throughout the two hours, they kept on character 100%, made jokes, gave fantastic vocal performances. There was a 40-piece orchestra present, with Walter Murphy (the main composer for Family Guy) conducting; the live music reinforced the detail-oriented and fan-dedicated nature of the event. Naturally, the performers all sounded wonderful; it was a real treat to hear the songs I've loved so much sung live by their real performers, with a full orchestra accompanying in real time. The cast is amazing and read through the script wonderfully, with real dedication to staying in character and telling a funny story. Special shout out to Seth MacFarlane singing (all his songs, but especially the jazz number) - that man can sing!! - Mike Henry's "Somewhere Green", and just about everything Alex Borstein did - the woman stops at nothing for comedy! My only complaint was that the Q&A at the end was very short; I got to ask my question, but only maybe 5 people did before the night ended. (Of course, my other complaint is that the show had to end - I would have stayed all night!) SI thoroughly enjoyed Family Guy Live and would ADORE seeing another performance!
