Jon Dore came “on-time” to his last show. He took off his backpack on the stage, and then took out his notebook. The guy seems to have stopped caring about his act.
Went to see Steve O at Queen Elizabeth Theater. The show was so good! He puts on a great performance and even takes picture/signs autographs with everyone who wants one. I did not like how it was General Admission, just a free for all with seating and your pretty much screwed if you come late.
As expected, Nate was just as funny live as seen on his Netflix specials. Graham Kay (a good old Canadian boy), who opened for him, was an unexpected treat - though I'm not sure why he wasn't mentioned in any promotions before the show.
Nate Bargatze was hilarious! What a great show! All new material with a finale of ‘iced coffee with milk’. If you get the chance, see him!
I was really excited to see JVN perform, but was unsure what to expect since he seems funny, but not necessarily a comedian. I am still glad I went, but I feel like he's still finding his footing and not all of his jokes landed completely. The two other comics that performed with him were entertaining as well, I really liked Naomi but the other woman I was less sure of, her jokes were pretty offensive. Overall I'm glad I went but I preferred other JFL shows I attended for actual laughs.
In addition to his (can I call you Roy?) great variety of content and great flow, it was impressive that he had brand new material to address newsworthy events that happened that same day and it was hilarious and smooth.
Lots of great laughs. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy show - great job Chow!!!
I thought I would be seeing a stand up act. Instead I saw a comedian speaking with a moderator about how they go through their comedy process. The show I saw was interesting but not at all what I expected. I don’t remember seeing any description when I bought the tickets on the difference between the stand up shows and the “in conversation with comedian” shows and their normal stand up routines.
Great experience. Would defiantly do this again. Ken put on a great show as well as all of the other stand ups we attended.
First time in winter garden theatre - this place was awesome :) super funky and cozy venue. It was too bad Maria Bamford wasn’t feeling her best but she put on a solid show nonetheless. We felt very lucky to have seen such an original and fearless performer on stage.
All the artists we saw during JFL 42 were hilarious, and I'm so glad we went! The Queen Elizabeth Theatre venue is the reason for the lower rating, as seats were way too tiny and the snacks were way overpriced for what they were. However, the comedians made up for it and my partner and I enjoyed everyone we saw. We even got to chat with and get a picture with Flula Borg after his show! Will definitely be going again next year.
Once again, JFL42 offers the best value of any festival in Toronto. The credit system lets you enjoy so much comedy at a good price. The system to send tickets to another person is still a gigantic frustrating pain, but at least the process is idiot proof. No matter what situation you get yourself into, you can get out of it without needing to contact a support person. Jenny Slate, Max Silvestri, and Jen Kirkman were incredible, and each venue was charming in its own way. Great job to everyone involved!
Desus and Mero do not disappoint. It sucked that they had to go on so late, but they made it very worth it
I was very disappointed in the show half the time they were just showing stuff on the projector so the audience had very little time to actually see the performers. This was not worth the money and I will never attend another show by them again. They seem disinterested in performing for the audience
This was legit the funniest JFL event I’ve ever seen. Of course I’m a fan, so I’m biased, but still. So fun, so great, I hope they do this again next year.
Opener was great, perfect energy level and jokes to get people excited for the headliner. Jim Gaffigan didn't disappoint - I really enjoyed his "encore."
Title should explain it all JFL 42 was amazing!! Gaffigan was our headliner and he was awesome! There were so many comedians to choose from, we bought the pass and felt like we didn't take advantage of it even though we saw 10 comedians (including openers) Big Jay took the crown for us, he was a pro working the crowd!! First time at the festival we will definitely be returning and probably with more friends and family
If you are offended by dead baby jokes... go anyway! He's hilarious.
Excellent Show. Little Jimmy was on point and funny as always. Would see again for sure. Chip and Uncle Paulie made a cameo.
Some of her jokes totally bombed and seemed like they were still in the beginning stages of being developed, but about 70% of her set killed this night! Definitely a great show all around.
