About

JULY TALK IN CONCERT:

Canadian indie outfit July Talk is quickly rising the ranks with their blues-meets-pop sound and the engaging vocal interplay of dual lead singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay. Dreimanis' husky growl is the perfect counterpoint to Fay's demure purr, and the duo play up the he-said-she-said drama with tongue-in-cheek lyrical bickering and amicable play-fighting on stage. Whether they're sending each other up on "Paper Girl" or rocking hard on "Summer Dress", the dynamic pair are the perfect front to the band's potent blend of indie, pop, and good old fashioned rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

July Talk formed in Toronto in 2012 after smoky-voiced musician Peter Dreimanis overheard the angelic Leah Fay singing in a bar. She instantly became his muse, and together they assembled a band that complemented their strikingly different singing styles. July Talk released their self-titled debut album that same year, impressing critics with their robust blues-inspired sound and the playful vocal exchange of Dreimanis and Fay. In 2013 the band toured with big-name acts like Weezer and Tegan and Sara, wowing audiences with their vibrant energy and showmanship. Additional performances at festivals like Rock the Park London and the Toronto Urban Roots Festival helped cement their reputation as a must-see live act, setting big expectations for their sophomore album and accompanying tour.

    Will not come back.

by Harley on 5/1/22Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Should separate event center from the casino. Just about died from the cigarette smoke. Should have been advised that concert seating meant concert standing. Very uncomfortable to stand that long. Left early because of medical issue in the mob that took for ever to remedy. First act really sucked. Sound engineer was awful for both acts. Walked over. Area is not very pedestrian friendly. Needs pedestrian access at the NE corner of the land. I would return for a smoke free concert with seating.

One of the best live shows I've ever seen

by Shaggymcnutty on 5/1/22Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I have now seen July Talk 3 times, and every time they somehow get better. The energy and atmosphere of their shows is unlike anything I have experienced at any other show. You can really tell that they love what they do. I would recommend anyone and everyone to go see them, it is well worth the price of admission.

    AMAZING SHOW

by Tony on 4/17/22Gramercy Theatre - New York

My roommate first introduced me to this band about a year and a half ago, and since then I've been absolutely obsessed, and just had to get tickets when I saw they were performing - and we were not disappointed at all. The sheer pulsing energy of the performance was stunning, the raw chemistry of the two singers is always electric, and the entire time was just a wonderful experience. I am not exaggerating to say it was possibly the best concert I've ever been to.

    Too long to wait

by Where’s July Talk on 4/14/22Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

Doors didn’t open until after 7:30. Cover band didn’t announce themselves, took forever to start. Lead vocal for no name band couldn’t was unintelligible. Finally heard July talk after 9 and they were amazing.

July Talk at The Echo in Los Angeles

by Jenn on 4/1/22The Echo - Los Angeles

Best show I've seen in ages. Brought a friend who had never heard a single July Talk song & he was blown away too. Shilpa Ray opened for them & she is fierce, fiercely talented. I'd love to see July Talk and Shilpa Ray again. Can't wait till they come back to LA again.

Maskless concert event at great venue with overpriced drinks

by WinterJulytalk on 12/13/21History - Toronto

Easy to get into the venue. Easy security check. Personnel with mask wearing signs. 70% capacity. Lots of space to get through crowds. No mask enforcement inside. Lighting was set for the pit level with the main floor crowd getting blinded by Lighting for sustained periods of time. Great acoustics. Friendly staff. Drink prices were $12 per tall boy. $9 pizza Slice. Very overpriced. Payment tablet auto set to 18% gratituity so looking at $15 per drink for 1oz liquor or 443ml cans. Exiting venue was orderly and staff directed crowd each way for ride share or taxi lines to get home.

    Finally

by Lb on 12/13/21History - Toronto

Glad to have finally seen July Talk. Would see again. Disappointed in the venue: zero monitoring of mask wearing - significant number did not wear masks once in. Incredibly overpriced beer. Damaged floor even tho venue is new.

    They're fantastic live

by Audi on 12/12/21History - Toronto

I've seen July Talk play the Juno's before, so I knew how amazing they were live going into this concert, but WOW they are the best! They have fantastic energy, Peter and Leah play off of each other so well onstage, and they sound exactly the same live as in their albums. I'd just like to thank them for the amazing night, and for bringing live music back! HISTORY as a venue was really cool as well! It's smaller, but is really clean and sleek, with wall to wall bars. No matter where you end up you're pretty close to the stage, which is rare to find in Toronto concert venues.

    Live at Last

by 22Crusher on 12/10/21FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

This was my first indoor gig since the pandemic started. The staff were excellent. Attentive and professional. The fans behaved themselves for the most part, except the ‘dude’ in the third row who kept blowing cigarette smoke on us somehow.

JULY TALK LIVE AT LAST …LONDON

by RAMMER on 12/8/21LONDON MUSIC HALL - London

Fantastic Show …The high energy and amazing chemistry on stage made the Sunday evening in December one to remember ! The set list had great mix of older and newer with stand out performances on BECK + CALL , PUSH +PULL, PICTURING LOVE , SUMMER DRESS and TOUCH just to name a few … ONLY negative was that they didn’t play even longer and I would have Loved to hear PAPERGIRL! Kudos to London Music Hall for being a great venue to watch LIVE TALENT come back to london soon JT

    Good Concert, Hard Venue

by JD on 12/1/21Bronson Centre - Ottawa

Concert itself was great. Venue had some bugs: out in the cold for an hour after advertised opening, no social distancing, no masks enforced once the concert started.

    THE WORST EVER

by jaaaaaj on 11/27/17The Gateway (SAIT) - Calgary

This was going to be my 4th time seeing July Talk..and Oh my god what a dissapointment!! Doors opened at 8pm, I waited in line since 7pm. It was already past 11:30pm, and THEY WERE NOT ON STAGE!!! There were other aritsts performing, artists for which I did not want to see. Truly dissapointing, I am never attending a July Talk concert again.
