Judas Priest on Tour

British heavy metal powerhouse Judas Priest has released 22 albums over four decades. They laid much of the groundwork for the heavy music of the 80s with their two guitar attack of revved up blues-based riffs They continue to tour, treating metal fans to extravagant live shows and spirited renditions of their unmistakable anthems. Ticket holders are sure to get to a concert early because they don't want to miss Singer Rob Halford's stage entrance. He emerges from a cloud of fog riding on a Harley Davidson, clad head to toe in leather-studded S&M gear. The band released a live DVD of their Epitaph World Tour in May 2013, which well received and features 23 tracks covering most eras of the bands storied career.

Judas Priest in Concert

The group formed in 1969 in Birmingham, England and released their first album in 1974 entitled Rocka Rolla. This was soon to be followed by Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976, which gained the group a wider audience in the UK. The group's next three albums: Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather were released in 1977, 1978 and 1979 respectively, and showed a band evolving its sound into shorter songs that still retained a heavy metal punch. Next came the album British Steel in 1980, which featured "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law" and "United" — all earning regular radio play. Point of Entry was released in 1981, followed by Screaming For Vengeance in 1984, which went double platinum. The 2008 concept album Nostradamus found them pushing boundaries by challenging their listeners to consider how "metal" the man of prophetic talents actually was. Over the next four years the band toured relentlessly and they show no signs of letting up, with an impressive schedule of tour dates on the books for 2014.

Pop Evil opened 15 minutes earlier than scheduled so we missed most of their show. What we saw of them we liked.Whitesnake put on a high energy crowd wooing show. They were fantastic and I don't even like them! Judas Priest put on a core show that would split the atom! They played with the energy of another day and I would go see them again!

    The Priest still got it

by Warpigz on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The show was great. The crowd sucked !! Whitesnake put on a good show, followed by The Priest. Played alot of oldies, just what i wanted. The venue was about 35% capacity. Extremely poor turnout. As a result, neither band played an encore. Whitesnake never even played Slide It In !? Rob screamed like he did 30 years ago. Freakin awesome !! Disappointed that they didn't play Devil's Child, Headin out to the Highway, Electric Eye, many more. Overall, very good show.

    Judas Priest was awesome!

by chickrocker on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The music and the feel of the beat was incredible. Wish they would have played a few more of the great older songs than more of the newer stuff, but they still sounded great.

    They Still Got it!

by Bopples70 on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Rob Halford's squeals stole the show! This is the 4th time I've seen them and I'd go 14 more times! They can still rock the house after all of these years! JP!

Whitesnake & Priest still have Rock in their blood

by MetalMichiganJulie on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Amazing stage presence by both bands. Because I have already seen Priest in the last 12 months, I was looking foward to seeing Whitesnake much more. They blew me away and Coverdale is still as hot and sexy as ever. All of the songs were fuled with sex and rifts that were unbelievable for a band that has been around for 31 years. My 18 year old was really into it and just love that the teens of today have such an appreciation for music of "yesteryears" . Halford was much more energetic and seemed very into the crowd, almost humbled by the roars of applause. You gotta love when a band shows that much appreciation for their fans. I will see their show again and again! Worth every penny I paid!

Judas Priest and Whitesnake in Detroit

by MarkN on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Great show on the part of Judas Priest. They performed all of "British Steel" and beyond that some real choice cuts. "Victim of Changes", "Diamonds & Rust" (different, reworked, uptempo version as compared to their original version), "The Ripper" amongst them. Rob Halford was in good vocal form and the band gave the audience a 1 1/2 hour show at the DTE Energy Music Theater. Whitesnake put on a spirited set with plenty of catalog and a few numbers of their new album "Good to be Bad" amongst the classics. David Coverdale seemed to be struggling with his voice. He did a lot of screaming and had trouble hitting many of the high notes without going into falsetto. He is a consumate front man however.

by JudasLibrarian on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I don't consider myself a fan of heavy metal (I went with a friend who is), but I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. It was fun, fast, and loud!

The Priest was back and gave a good show!

by Painkiller on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Whitesnake did an honest job as an opening band. They played classics for a little more than one hour. David Coverdale was good and his voice was there. Good show from the guitarists too, with a fun solo part. Judas Priest played the British Steel album perfectly. The sound was very good, the guitars were clear and the voice was perfectly audible. Rob Halford's voice was just as good as on the CDs. Very professionnal show. DTE Energy Music Theatre was a very good place for such an event.

Judas Priest: Metal Gods Still Rockin'

by TCSnow on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I saw Judas Priest at DTE Energy Music Theater in Detroit, and the boys still put on an amazing show (no surprise). Glenn & KK were tight and sounded great, and Halford still amazed with his vocal range. Starting off the show with the entire British Steel album was certainly a treat. Seeing songs like The Rage and The Ripper live make this a must for any Priest fan. Freewheel Burnin' was icing on the cake. Now if we can just get them to do Defenders of the Faith in its entirety next summer...

    Whitesnake was bad ass

by GabySaxo on 7/15/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The concert was great. It was my first time that I saw Whitesnake Live and it was awesome. Judas Priest was good, but Whitesnake was incredible. The thing was the sound of Judas Priest was louder in my opinion to make them sound bigger and better than Whitesnake. Overall good concert and a Whitesnake awesome performance.

by longtimepriestfan on 7/15/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

you can instantly realize these guys love to play and are forever appreciative of their fans, punishing drums from an amazing talent alongside the dynamic duo of metal guitar, what else can you aks for, the ethereal and screaching vocals of the often imitated metal God vocalist Halford

    Whitesnake and priest

by Jag1 on 7/14/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Well all in all the show was worth the money a couple things were not the best like whitesnake seemed to have a crew of young kids backing up David, instead of the real crew, they were ok but sub par compared to the real guys,Timing was off a bit on many songs Like they had learned them in in 2 weeks, was good to see david coverdale though, white snakes sound man coulda been a lot better as well, Priest was Great and even for Robs age his voice was dynamite, soundman did a great job for priest, they did britsh steel in its entirety and some other classics. all in a ll the show was worth it!

    Deafening Screams

by Interiorattack on 7/14/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

I am a life long Priest fan...aka starting with Stainded Glass was released...and Priest did nothing to disappoint. It is amazing to think that they are all in their late 50's and Tipton is 62! Rob's voice has held up remarkably over the years. While he no longer is able to hit the notes he is famous for, he is still able to bring out the heavy metal sound. All in all they delivered more then I expected and I would jump at the chance to see them in a heart beat. The biggest surprise and only because I haven't seen them since the early 80's is how hard Whitesnake rocked! Coverdale still belts it out and is close to what he was in his prime. Aldrich and Beach were making their axes smoke! I would have paid to see Whitesnake alone after that performance. Popevil have potential and their lead singer is a very good performer. Their sound mixing was a little suspect and I am sure they are quite good in a smaller venue.

    PRIEST!PRIEST!PRIEST!

by JudasPriest27 on 7/14/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

Third time seeing the Priest. AMAZING as always. Only thing unusual about this show was that it ended before midnight. The other Priest shows I've been to lasted a bit longer... but I LOVE JUDAS PRIEST AND IM IN LOVE WITH ROB HALFORD AS ALWAYS!! By the way Whitesnake was great too!
