Judas Priest on Tour
British heavy metal powerhouse Judas Priest has released 22 albums over four decades. They laid much of the groundwork for the heavy music of the 80s with their two guitar attack of revved up blues-based riffs They continue to tour, treating metal fans to extravagant live shows and spirited renditions of their unmistakable anthems. Ticket holders are sure to get to a concert early because they don't want to miss Singer Rob Halford's stage entrance. He emerges from a cloud of fog riding on a Harley Davidson, clad head to toe in leather-studded S&M gear. The band released a live DVD of their Epitaph World Tour in May 2013, which well received and features 23 tracks covering most eras of the bands storied career.
Judas Priest in Concert
The group formed in 1969 in Birmingham, England and released their first album in 1974 entitled Rocka Rolla. This was soon to be followed by Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976, which gained the group a wider audience in the UK. The group's next three albums: Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather were released in 1977, 1978 and 1979 respectively, and showed a band evolving its sound into shorter songs that still retained a heavy metal punch. Next came the album British Steel in 1980, which featured "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law" and "United" — all earning regular radio play. Point of Entry was released in 1981, followed by Screaming For Vengeance in 1984, which went double platinum. The 2008 concept album Nostradamus found them pushing boundaries by challenging their listeners to consider how "metal" the man of prophetic talents actually was. Over the next four years the band toured relentlessly and they show no signs of letting up, with an impressive schedule of tour dates on the books for 2014.
Great show lots of people the venue was awesome what a great time Judas Priest was great as always
Really enjoyed Sabaton as an opener. We always attend their concerts every time they come to the US. Judas Priest can still Rock even after 50 years! Still well worth the ticket money.
Longtime Priest fan, seen them many times. Great to see that Halford can still bring it on songs like Painkiller and Victim of Changes. The main issue was how much he had the crowd sing instead of him. For the choruses of iconic songs like Another Thing Coming, Electric Eye, Breaking the Law - I need to hear him sing those iconic choruses, not the crowd singing it. It happened frequently enough for me to downgrade each of the songs in which he did that. it was quite unsatisfying not to hear him sing those lines. I probably would not see them again if this is what to expect, I've seen them enough to otherwise have had my fill.
It was one of the best concerts ever, had such a good time rob halford is the heavy metal king
I have seen Judas Priest at least 4 times, its always a great show! Sabaton also rocked!
Judas Priest was absolutely amazing, Halford sounded better than ever as did the rest of the Metal Gods. Was able to bring my son to his first concert and the Armory is a great venue. We had a blast and Priest was Great. Loved all of it, Sabaton was a great opener and got the crowd ready for The Metal Gods.
Great show at the Armory in Minneapolis. They have slowed but still amazing and live. Great to see in a small intimate venue.
Went 2 hours before doors opened to get up to the stage.52 degrees short sleeve shirt with a mist.had a incredible night and got a priest pic.thanks to both band for some great memories
Bought tickets for the Rosemont Theater. First time at this venue. Sat in section 201 row c seats 7 and 8. Not just us, but but many seat like our on the end, I'm on both sides, has restricted viewing. We could not see the back half of the stage. Couldn't see the drummers, of either band, or when others performers moved back. Of course could not see any screens or back drop. NEVER was it mentioned that these seats had restricted views and could only see half the stage, but the price was the same.
Absolutely Amazing!! They can still bring it like they did in the late 70’s early 80’s🤘🤘The Armory is an awesome venue!! The atmosphere & acoustics are the best!!
It was very packed. A little too packed for me. But besides that it was a very good show. Judas Priest was amazing!!!!!! I have never heard of Sabaton and they were very good too. Over all a great show. I would come back.
Best concert in a long time venue was great and people
Judas Priest performance definitely kept up with what we hoped to see! Vocals , stage show was great!!! Loved it! Sabaton was well worth hearing and seeing too!
Opener Sabaton really played to the crowd. Lead singer giving a 5 year old his sunglasses. Very classy. Priest’s energy was great! Rob can still hit the high notes. They still rock and a good setlist mix from their various decades. Thanks for all the heavy metal over lifetime.
Hard to believe this is the same band (sort of) as the one that inspired “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” in 1986, which is the same year I last saw the Priest live. I was very pleasantly surprised by “Invincible Shield” and watched a few live videos to see if it would be worth buying tickets, and am glad I did. The Armory is such a treat, as not many historic venues are tailor made for live music. My only complaint is it would have been nice to have a sloped floor so we in General Admission could see a bit better. Otherwise the room, sound quality, and access were fantastic. In terms of the band, the setlist worked great, and allowed Rob to warm his voice up. It’s obvious he relies on sound effects to augment and help with sustain, but he kicks butt for a geriatric. Richie Faulkner is a workhorse who is probably underutilized in this role, but sells the show very well, and if all else fails, could get a gig as a Christian Bale impersonator. I’m glad they do Turbo Lover. It sounds as good now as it did back in the day and I super fun to hear and watch the crowd sing along. Overall it was a lot of fun and exceeded my expectations.
What a great show. Sabaton opened strong and was genuinely happy to be performing and the crowd loved them. They played a 12 song set that was great from start to finish. JP was outstanding I couldn’t get over how a 74 year old could sing like that. Unbelievable, hopefully I will have another opportunity to see them. Sabaton performed like a headliner and should do their own tour.
The venue was amazing and Judas Priest were electrifying playing the best set ever!
I saw Judas Priest for the first time back in 1988 on the Ram It Down Tour. Here we are 36 years later and Judas Priest still know how to put on a great show. Rosemont Theatre was packed with enthusiastic fans ranging in ages 7 to 70. Great to see the elders sharing their love for Judas Priest with the younger generation. The opening salvo of Panic Attack was a quick reminder that Priest was back and as good as ever. The setlist featured some deep cuts (Saints In Hell and Love Bites being real highlights) along with all the classics including great performances of Breaking The Law and Victim of Changes. The crowd went wild for Painkiller and let drummer Scott Travis know when he asked, "what do you want to hear?"JP returned to the stage for a three song encore that included Electric Eye, Hellbent For Leather and Living After Midnight. Always awesome to see The Metal God, Rob Halford ride out to the stage on a Harley decked out in leather to the delight of the roaring crowd. There were some sound issues here and there throughout the show unfortunately. Most noticeably during Living After Midnight, but overall the band was in great form throughout the show. Really cool visuals for each song also added to the overall experience. If you’ve never seen Judas Priest in concert, do yourself a favor and catch them on The Invincible Shield Tour! 4.5 out of 5 stars overall. Long live these Defenders of the Faith!
Great experience from beginning to end. Ticketmaster app was user friendly and easy to display ticket when necessary. Crowne Plaza hotel was right next door, so easy to get to the venue. Rosemont Theater was a nice venue with decently priced consessions and hassle free entrance procedures. Enjoyed Sabaton, but left two somgs into Judias Priest because it was too loud and wasn't really there to see them play anyway. We were there to see Sabaton. Great night, and great experience.
Just a great show. New music sounds awesome. Easy parking and easy access to the theater.
