Judas Priest on Tour

British heavy metal powerhouse Judas Priest has released 22 albums over four decades. They laid much of the groundwork for the heavy music of the 80s with their two guitar attack of revved up blues-based riffs They continue to tour, treating metal fans to extravagant live shows and spirited renditions of their unmistakable anthems. Ticket holders are sure to get to a concert early because they don't want to miss Singer Rob Halford's stage entrance. He emerges from a cloud of fog riding on a Harley Davidson, clad head to toe in leather-studded S&M gear. The band released a live DVD of their Epitaph World Tour in May 2013, which well received and features 23 tracks covering most eras of the bands storied career.

Judas Priest in Concert

The group formed in 1969 in Birmingham, England and released their first album in 1974 entitled Rocka Rolla. This was soon to be followed by Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976, which gained the group a wider audience in the UK. The group's next three albums: Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather were released in 1977, 1978 and 1979 respectively, and showed a band evolving its sound into shorter songs that still retained a heavy metal punch. Next came the album British Steel in 1980, which featured "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law" and "United" — all earning regular radio play. Point of Entry was released in 1981, followed by Screaming For Vengeance in 1984, which went double platinum. The 2008 concept album Nostradamus found them pushing boundaries by challenging their listeners to consider how "metal" the man of prophetic talents actually was. Over the next four years the band toured relentlessly and they show no signs of letting up, with an impressive schedule of tour dates on the books for 2014.

    The Priest

by ravedrake on 7/27/09Concrete Street Amphitheater - Corpus Christi

All an All it was a kick butt show. the only thing i hated is that it was seated. how do you go to a rock show and it be seated. they made it seem as if we went to see some lounge act or something. This was the Priest the crowd should have right up to the stage with tons of fans bunched up together like it was back in the day! They made him look old and weak. Dont get me wrong everthing rock about the show, but I just felt like we were restricted from really experiancing the full rockness of the show.

    Judas Priest still rockin !

by VFree1 on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

This show tells the whole world why the Priest are still the leaders in live hard rockin shows! This show was like a blast to the past when the Priest set the world on fire with Robs vocals, KK's screaming guitars, Glen's scorching guitar works, Ian's thumbing bass, and Scott's thundering drums!!!!!!!!!!! They played like they were just beginning hard and hungry not any B.S. This show was a great deal for the fans and the band really enjoyed playing and listening to us sing the songs right back to them word for word not missing a beat. This show allows you to be a part of the experience not just a ticket and a seat. Be prepared to stand for the entire show and catch the lasers and lighting cause this was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Priest Rules

by UncleC on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

That was an incredible show. They were so "on" and played everything with intensity and excitement. Victim is, without a doubt, the most amazing song from Priest when played live. The crowd was totally into the show - I saw JP in Prague last year and the San Antonio crowd completely blows them away. No comparision. This set was so much better than last year's group of songs. It is always great for Priest to play their older classics - the songs that "made" them. I can't wait to see them again next year. There is no one that does it like Priest - they completely rule Heavy Metal.

    White Snake & Judas_WOW

by niftygirl on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

All I can say, is that both venues were phenomenal. Music was spot on, like in the recording studio, some concerts lose some of there "sound" if you will when they play on stage, not White Snake or Judas was a disappointment, I was quite blown away, this was my first time seeing either one of these bands and I will for sure see them again when the opportunity arises again. Rock On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Show for Hardcore Priest Fans

by BryanE on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

If you are a newer fan of Judas Priest or you first got into them during the Painkiller era or later, this might not be the right Priest show for you. But if British Steel is your (or one of your) favorite Priest albums, go see this show. They performed every song from that album which was great for me since I love the deep tracks on that album. A by-product of this is that they left out some Priest classics like "Hell Bent For Leather," "Screming for Vengeance," and "Turbo Lover." Personally, I didn't mind that trade off, but it really comes down to why you are a Priest fan and which of their songs are your personal favorites. If you like British Steel, go see this show.

    Judas Priest METAL GODS!!!!!!!!!!!

by Mhead on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas, July 25, 2009. It was an incredible night for wife and I. I’ve been a metal head since I can remember (I’m 35 ears old). I’ve been to a lot of concerts but I’m ashamed to say that I had never seen Judas Priest or Whitesnake in concert. When Whitesnake started playing, I was very exited to see Mr. Coverdale, and let me tell you he still has the voice. It was a nice set of pretty much classics songs. But I was not prepared for Judas Priest. I was in shock since the very first second they stepped on stage. If you are a METAL HEAD you have to go. Judas Priest was amazing from beginning to end. Perfect sound, perfect stage set up. Mr. Halford was flawless. His stage presence is incredible. I don’t know why I waited so long to see them, but things happen for a reason and that night will be in my memory forever.

    Judas Priest Rocks!

by LauraLea on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

The opening act of the show, PopEvil (?) was pretty good. They had some good songs, and a good energy with the crowd. Whitesnake was... odd. The best song they did was Still of the Night at the very end, and I was ready for them to get off the stage and make way for JP! Judas Priest was their usual amazing selves. This is my third concert to see them - it was great to hear some old songs. I loved hearing Grinder and Diamonds and Rust. Rob and the boys are great, and I really enjoyed the set list. The crowd was really into the show with them, and the chemistry was amazing.

    Judas was good

by whtsnk on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

Whitesnake opened for Priest. Whitesnake was awesome. i think priest fell a little short only because I thought they would play more of their bigger hits, but over all it was good, Halford can still belt it out.

    Left Feeling Shortchanged

by CSenior on 7/27/09AT&T Center - San Antonio

First off, the band sounded phenomenal. Rob sounded live the same as he does recorded- especially considering his age. No studio "magic" needed for him. The band was tight as well. However, the setlist (or lack thereof) was what left us feeling like "That's was it?" after we left. I never availed myself of the opportunity to see JP live when they were at their peak, and have regretted it as I've always been a fan of these Metal Gods. I knew the deal on this tour- "A celebration of the 30th anniversary of British Steel; the album will be played in its entirety as well as a few of their other hits." I had no idea how literal that promo line was. After opening with "Judas is Rising", Brittish Steel was played in its entirety, followed byThe Ripper, Prophecy, Rock Hard Ride Free, Victim Of Changes, Sinner and Hell Patrol . The encore included Freewheel Burning, Diamonds And Rust and You've Got Another Thing Comin'. That was it. The set was a paltry 60 minutes in length and GLARINGLY absent were Painkiller, Screaming for Vengeance, The Green Manalishi, Hell Bent for Leather (my fave JP tune) as well as other classics such as Some Heads are Gonna Roll, Heading Out to the Highway, Eat Me Alive, Rock Hard Ride Free, etc. Although I would have relished the rapturous eargasm, I can allow the fact that Painkiller may be too demanding for the upper register of a man who's pushing 60, but Screaming For Vengeance omitted from a Priest concert? Are you kidding me? The other odd thing was that at the end of EVERY song Rob Halford disappeared from the stage until the first line of the next song. My wife's theory was that he was backstage sucking... oxygen from a mask. It was a good show, but another half hour of hits would've made the price of admission well worth it. Finally, where's the pyrotechnics?!?!?! Even TSO had flames, sparks and explosions in their Christmas show! The bottom line is that they sounded great but when you leave a concert wanting more it should be because you just couldn't get enough. Figuratively speaking- not literally.
