    The Big Picture

by StanZak on 2/12/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

Bravo Joshua Bell! A ticket to one of his concerts means a trip to dynamic energy and excellence. Whether a fan of Violin or not, the presentation yields a feeling of amazement at the technique and interpretation of the music. The experience of actually seeing a master in person is totally different from listening to a CD. There is no way to communicate the intensity and focus that Mr. Bell gives off in his performance. Seeing him perform gave me hope for the future of Classical music. Here is a person who can appeal to younger audiences and draw them into the world of classical music. Also adding to Mr. Bell's appeal was his down to earth stage persona. i find this rare in the high powered world of show business where big egos are most common. Where can one find an artist of this caliber would sit in a NJ lobby signing autographs to all who asked?

    Simplicity at its best...

by KidNurse on 2/12/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

Joshua Bell was a perfect concert to appreciate the sounds of a well-played violin, and the talent of the violinist. A wonderful forum for youngsters to learn to appreciate this music, he played 4 pieces, each with multiple movements at different intensities, easily keeping everyone's attention (even the youngsters). Very personable, the encore was fun and joyful, and he met fans and signed autographs afterwards - inpsiring budding violinists. A delightful evening of violin, with some piano on the side.....

    Joshua Bell - Phenomenal

by KatiaViolin on 2/12/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

This was a gorgeous, strictly classical performance of 4 outstanding works - Bach, Grieg, Schumann, Ravel, with a Kreisler/Dvorak encore. Exquisitely played; Joshua Bell is a phenomenal talent, and Jeremy Dern's accompaniment was beautiful. Very happy I was part of this evening.

Joshua & Jeremy's musical rapport has to be seen!

by Samantha1111 on 2/9/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

I would like to thank Joshua Bell and Jeremy Denk for sharing the amazing music they make with the world. I've never experienced a concert like this one. The amazing musical relationship between Joshua and Jeremy has to be experienced with not only the ears, but the eyes. I can only describe it this way: The music seems to start from Joshua's toes, accelerate up through his body and come out through his soul into his violin. The music seems to flow through Jeremy's fingers into the piano and back into his body, as it simultaneously jumps up and meets the violin. The musicians are truly one with their instrument. Sparks were flying!

    Great Violinist with exceptional skill

by Schwill on 2/7/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

Not so keen on the Bach- he played it as if he were bored. He did not seem to communicate with the accompanist very well on this piece. He was better suited to play Schumann, Grieg, and Revel as evidenced by his interest per body language, acute tonality, and rhythmic precision. Wonderful accompaniment! His encore was Fritz Kreisler! Extraordinarily schmaltzy and fun! Nice performance.

    It was lovely-

by Musika on 2/7/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

As a long time Gainesville resident, and major music fan, it was quite pleasant. The Phillips Center is by far the best venue in town. My vision is for rock bands to perform here.

Joshua Bell is a master of the violin and I would highly recommend going to one of his performances. He plays so passionately on stage and seeing him move graciously around stage as he plays is a sight to behold.

My husband and I had a great time, the performance will stay in our memory and we felt so relax after it. His interpretation was great and I discovered the sonatas differently. Amazing

This concert was awesome and Mr Bell played flawlessly. I took my daughter who is a violinist in her high school orchestra and she thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was well worth the two and a half hour drive each way from Melbourne.

Joshua Bell was Worth the Drive!

by OrlandoLady on 2/7/10Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

My husband and I drove to Gainesville from Orlando to attend the Joshua Bell event at the Phillips Center. We had heard him play live about a year ago when he was the guest artist with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. At that concert, we were in the front row, center seats. I had tears streaming down my face the entire time he played. I don't know if it was because the music was so beautiful, or if it was because I was so close to greatness, but it was an overwhelmingly emotional response. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. So...we were very excited to see (and hear) him again. Our seats were on the mezzanine level, so we weren't within ten feet of him like before. However, he again stirred my soul with his incredible talent and the sweetness and purity of his music. It was a beautiful performance! Accompanist Jeremy Denk on piano was perfection, too. I wish we could relive the concert tonight!
