About

Country artist Josh Thompson kicked off his career in 2009, when the songwriter released his first single, “Beer on the Table,” and co-authored a song for Jason Michael Carroll’s Top Ten album Growing Up Is Getting Old. A native of western Wisconsin, Thompson began pouring concrete alongside his father at the age of 12, and a sense of blue-collar pride soon found its way into his music. He moved to Nashville in 2005, assembled a band, and received a boost when Columbia Records signed him to the label’s country division. “Beer on the Table” became a Top 40 country single in 2009, marking Thompson's first taste of chart success, and he spent the rest of the year touring and finalizing his debut album. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi

The concert was awesome. Great food, atmosphere and the music was remarkable. I was really impressed with Sydney and the pre show. I would put her up against Miranda... Lol

Good show. His opening act was excellent, she has a future in Nashville. Josh only continues to get better. The venue is really great too. The food and service were excellent, and the best thing is no one stands in front.

Eight Seconds Saloon and Josh Thompson are awesome

by Colin1113 on 2/3/138 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

We drive from 40 miles north of Nashville (Clarksville) any time we can to go to Eight Seconds Saloon. The staff is amazing and the crowd is great. This was our 4th trip there in 12 months and we would do it every weekend if we had the energy. Josh always puts on a great show and we were fortunate enough to get some meet and greet passes once we were inside. The establishment always makes the event better. Hats off to them.

    Acoustic performance was excellent!

by NMMimi44 on 10/5/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

This could be called the Perfect Pitch Concert - I didn't hear one off-key note from any of the three performers. Spectacular voices, awesome songs. Randy Houser sounds so much like Ronnie Dunn (my fav singer), his voice gives me chills.

    Relaxing Acoustic Concert

by Numb1showperson on 10/4/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

I always attend the WYRK Acoustic concerts at UB Performing Arts. They are always so enjoyable! Usually it includes "up and coming" acts, and they usually go on to be very big, such as "The Band Perry", Dierks Bentley, Steel Magnolia, Randy Houser, and many more! There is not a bad seat in the house at this venue, even though I end up sitting in the first 10 rows, usually! The acoustics are wonderful, and they always have the opportunity to meet the stars after the show (one artist, and a photo and autograph). Great time!

    So much fun!

by Maryaeger on 10/3/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

This concert (if that's what you want to call it) was fabulous. Josh Thompson was the lead man.... & he played the role well. He was funny & engaging. Josh made you feel right at home. He made us cry & then roar with laughter! Randy Houser was another character. His powerfully, smooth voice was even better than his recorded voice (When does that ever happen)! Both Josh & Randy had some great stories to tell. The newbie.... Andy Gibson, (LOL Let's hope he was only kidding about not knowing who the Beatles were!) His talent is undeniable, I'm sure he will get more & more comfortable with it all. Thankx guys, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening!

    Fall Acoustic Show was amazing!

by longdog7 on 10/3/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

I took my mom to the show and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Between the great vocals and interaction between the artists and the crowd it made for a very entertaining show at a great price! I always look forward to these acoustic shows and highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you WYRK ~

    WYRK Acoustic Show

by Cherageo on 10/3/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

I love the acoustic shows! You get up close; hear stories about the singer/songwriter and why the songs developed. Alot of laughter, great voices and fun. Much better than going to a drunk concert like Darien Lake. Still enjoy country; without all that craziness. Love, Love, Love these concerts.

Just love the acoustic shows at UB Center for the Arts. Especially like the banter between performers and the stories about the songs. The theatre is wonderful for these type of shows...not a bad seat in the house and they are very comfortable.

    WYRK Fall Acoustic Show 2012

by nikful on 10/3/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

Very good show and please keep it on Sunday nites. The only negative was the inconsiderate woman to our right who had to climb over the seat, take her boots of more than once and talked very loudly during the show.

    Acoustic Bliss!

by 72JoeBuffalo on 10/2/12University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

These seasonal acoustic shows are such a fantastic way to connect with talented upcoming artists, and at a great budget price to boot! The sound at UB Center for Performing Arts was phenomenal, as it always is. The theater is small and intimate and our dead-center 5th row seats for $25 each were like having Josh Thompson pickin' in our living room. He and Randy Houser were both very outgoing and charismatic, telling wonderful tales to go along with their tunes and cajoling each other as well. Andy Gibson seemed a bit less comfortable in the stripped-down setting, but was pitch perfect and technically exceptional nonetheless. An artist really has to be "on" to pull it off acoustic. I hope this format continues into the future for WYRK, as we will always attend. It's a "can't miss" event!

    Genuine country music, amazing energy!

by dirtroadgirl on 3/14/12Showcase Live - Foxboro

I went to see Josh Thompson last year for the first time because I knew one of his band members. I have gone to see him four more times since then because of how amazing his live show is. He writes the majority of his songs and it shows in his performances. His music is about "the working man" and not cliche country lyrics. You feel his honesty and energy in every song. His band generates that same energy and are all talented musicians. My sister who is not much of a fan of today's country music was blown away with him. He blends his sound with that of the great country outlaws such as Waylon, Johnny, Charlie, and Merle, even covering some of their tunes. A friend went to this show with me who wasn't familiar with him, and wouldn't leave the front of the stage to go to the bathroom or grab a beer. She was so into and can't wait for the next show. Josh puts in a lot of work to get his music to his fans and he is destined to have a long successful career. If you can see him live it is a show you CANNOT MISS!
