Josh Ritter truly achieves a special performance every time he takes the stage, but his show on November 11th at the Ogden Theatre in Denver was other-worldly. I've been blessed enough to see Ritter twice this year (both times standing in the front row), and in both his Washington DC show @ the 9:30 Club in May and his show in Denver on Thursday night, Ritter bought a degree of sincerity and energy to his performance which few artists are capable of even remotely approaching. The man was sweat-soaked, even breathless after a some songs, and yet he continued to absolutely tear through a set-list which easily surpassed 2 hours. There wasn't a single moment when a smile wasn't stretched across his face, lighting up the darkened room like a full moon. There's no one - and I mean no one - in the music industry who is a finer live performer, and this includes John Butler, who is absolutely incredible in his own regard. Ritter isn't just the best of his generation. He's one of the best ever, and it's always a privilege to see him perform.
