  • Amazing show!!

    by Rebekah11111111 on 2/12/11Trocadero - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band are phenomenal live. They played their hearts out for over two hours, with a great mix of old and new songs. They are creative, engaging, genuine, and extremely talented. You can tell that these guys are playing for the love of it. I was a little disappointed with some audience members at the Philly show - there was a lot of talking during songs from folks at the bar. But, Josh managed to capture the audience's attention and bring the theater to complete silence a time or two. He is one of the best live performers I've ever seen.

  • Josh Ritter. One of our greatest artists!

The show was so good I can't write a review to do I justice. Only Josh Ritter could! Go see him. You'll love it!

  • Best Entertainer Imaginable

Great show. He sounded excellent. Both he and his band are incredibly entertain to watch. The bassist, Zack Hickman, has the best mustache in history. He alone is incredibly entertaining. Bottom line, buy a ticket for his next show, now. It is easily the best money you will ever spend to go see anyone play.

  • Absolutely Amazing

    by a1a1a1a1 on 11/18/10Majestic Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Josh Ritter is without a doubt one of the greatest song writers ever! His passion for his music is clearly evident the moment he walks on stage. I have seen him twice and I have yet to see him not full of energy and smiling. The first time I saw him I had never heard his music and went only on the recommendation of a friend. I'm glad I did because, even though I didn't know any of the songs, it was one of the best shows I have ever been to and I'm looking forward to my 3rd show. If you can make it a show, don't pass the opportunity.

  • Josh Ritter deserves more attention

Folk is not typically a genre people get excited to see. They fear the heavy banjo, stand-up bass and even the meaningful lyrics. But, out of a genre that comes with great scrutiny also comes a performer who can stand among classic Rock Gods. His name is Josh Ritter. The moment Josh and his band enter the stage, you are sucked into their presents: A huge smile from the lead singer; a stone face from the lead guitar; a twisted mustache from the bass; a puppy smirk from the pianist; and, surprisingly, a calm ease emanated from the drummer. They have won you over before the first string is picked. Overcoming a somewhat uninteresting opening act, Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band received a tremendous applause after their opening song "Idaho." The energy only increased as Josh was able to touch on every emotion. I often caught myself smiling as I watched in admiration of the band's charisma and talent. It soon reached a point where I hoped the show wouldn't end but knew i had too. Josh made a me more a fan of his music and I am excited to see how he progresses as a song writer and musician.

I really had an incredible time. The music was great, and produced a bit of a transcendent experience.

  • Josh in the BIG D!

    by Fuburl13 on 11/16/10Majestic Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to a ton of concerts in my life, but this was easily one of the best! I Have never seen so much energy in my life and such precision on the execution of the songs. My face hurt after the show from smiling the whole time. If you ever get to see this man and his band perform, do yourself a favor a go to a show. I hope he comes back to Micigan as soon as possible!

  • Josh Ritter @ Majestic Theater

by Anonymous on 11/16/10Majestic Theatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Josh Ritter, talented singer song writer has shrugged off the mantle of solo acoustic performer. Enter Josh Ritter entertainer. With a full band of worthy sidemen, he skipped through a careers worth of songs. The core was the new material, most of which worked best with full instrumentation. His enthusiasm was contagous as he fully encouraged audience participation during quieter songs. Overall a great show. Catch him next year.

  • Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band were fantastic

by nicollej on 11/16/10Majestic Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I have never seen somebody so happy to be on stage! The band was completely in sync and you could tell they really cared. The acoustic, unplugged, un-mic'ed version of "In the Dark" was outstanding!

  • A perfect concert

  • Energetic show

    by Paddy81 on 11/15/10Ogden Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Josh Ritter played an amazing show for almost 2 solid hours. It was full of energy and fun. There was a nice mix of older songs and newer, with at least 2 dozen songs played, including a thirty minute stretch of just Josh and his guitar without the band in the middle of the show. He had a lot of fun with the crowd without sacrificing playing time. Highly recommend his shows.
