Amazing production. The lights! The choreography! The costumes! The performers were pretty darned good, too. I loved it.
Venue is always great. Though, my friend's foot got spiked by a heel and her toenail came uprooted and bled all over. The staff was great with her and EMS happened to be outside the venue and came in to wrap up her foot. I thought that the lesser character's voices were stronger than the lead's voices. Nice that husband and wife could be together and I loved them both on American Idol, but I think it would have been better with stronger singers in the leads! And some drunk women sat in back of us in empty seats after intermission and I had to ask them numerous times to not talk. Finally they moved to their regular seats. Those poor patrons that had to put up with that.
This was a great show! Lively, colorful, feel-good time.
Orchestra was way to loud and songs way to fast. I had trouble understanding the words in the songs because of this!!! I also felt Dianna was screaming in her upper register, maybe because she was fighting with getting heard above the Orchestra and trying to keep up singing at the fast rate in some of the songs. Slow and Quiet it down Orchestra!!!
I've been spoiled by seeing Donny Osmond in this production in Chicago. The sound wasn't loud enough for me and I couldn't understand what they were saying at times. The narrator held a microphone the entire time and really was distracting. Joseph was pretty to look at but not believeable as Joseph. The brothers were were awesome actors and singers. Pharaoh was quite entertaining and stole the show.
Unfortunately I saw Dream Coat when Donny Osmond was Joseph, so it set the bar quite high going into this production. I was NOT disappointed with Joseph, I was disappointed with the narrator, DeGarmo. Her voice was pitchy and high ranges sounded like a screeching cat. The set seemed to be done on a limited budget, nothing spectacular there. I feel like I overpaid for what was presented. Sorry.
From the singing, dancing and colorful costumes to great seats up in the mezzanine, this was a wonderful evening. We have seen this musical five times now in other cities/venues. This did not disappoint us. We were afraid the acoustics would be compromised by our seats (it was our first time at De Vos Performance Hall) however you could hear every word and see every magical step. Nice to attend something that is appropriate for all ages. Good Job, Grand Rapids!
I have seen the musical before and was greatly disappointed. The lead characters didn't have as strong a voice. Some of their singing was muffled. You couldn't follow the play, as my guest said. She did not know the story, but had heard the play was good.
Having watched Diana DeGarmo compete on American Idol, I knew her vocals would be fantastic and she did not disappoint. Ace Young was the true surprise. I remember watching him on American Idol as well but I did not remember his vocal range being as incredible as it was. They both passed the goosebumps test with flying colors. This is my 4th time seeing the show (1st time with this cast). I have seen it with Tommy Page in the lead and with Sam (original Broadway cast of one of the Grease revivals) but the choreography and the singing in this one make this version the one to see. My 10 year old daughter saw it for the first time and she was truly mesmerized for the entire show. It is such a high energy, entertaining show that I am thinking of taking my 5 year old son with me when it comes to DC. Please support this cast! They are truly amazing!
the show was done very well the only problem was some of the microphones needed to be turned up had trouble hearing some of them
So sad event was not better attended. It was fantastic! Updates were refreshing and humorous. Music uplifting. Pharaoh was hilarious and Joseph was beautiful! Loved it!
This cast was awesome!! Ace Young and Diana Degarmo we a perfect fit, The voices were just fantastic. I loved it!
The production was lacking energy. Not sure the direction was as good as other productions I have seen of this show.
This was our fifth time seeing Joseph, and it did not disappoint! The Hershey Theatre was beautiful and the seats were great.
Had a great time at the show. My daughter sang along the whole time. The guys that were the brothers were awesome!
Well done. Lead singers very good. Impressed with the dancing.
The singing, acting, music, sets, everything was first class. A beautiful performance. I was especially impressed with the lead singers. Very glad we made it to this show.
Loved the theatre and great talent. However, Joseph was a really weak lead!
Fairly well done. The changing of sets was interesting in how they moved the cubes around
The show was amazing, entertaining, fun, family-friendly; many wonderful and talented 'stars'!
