About

JONNY LANG IN CONCERT:

Acclaimed blues singer and axeman Jonny Lang is a true guitar player's guitarist, a legend among fingerpickers around the world for his ferocious playing and virtuosic technique.  From his days as a teenage prodigy performing for Bill Clinton to his stints on tour with legends like B.B. King and Aerosmith, Lang has proven himself to be an electrifying performer, as adept on originals like "Lie to Me" as he is covering class acts like Stevie Wonder and Edgar Winters. Taking the stage with his signature bluesy croon and trusty Fender Telecaster guitar, Lang is set to stun on his upcoming US tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Lang took up the guitar at age 12. By his early teens, he was skilled enough to join his guitar teacher's band, which was renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang in his honor. After signing to A&M records at age 16 he released his 1997 solo debut Lie to Me, a critical and commercial success that landed on the Billboard 200 and went multi-platinum. 1998 follow-up Wander this World was a similar success, cracking the US Top 40 and earning him a Grammy nomination. In 2013, he topped the Blues Albums chart with his sixth studio album Fight for My Soul, also reaching No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart. A fiery performer with skill to spare, Lang will continue to deliver big on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jonny Lang blew me away the entire show. His guitar playing is remarkable. His voice is so soulful, you can tell he feels every word that he sings."

"What a talent! Just oozes out of him. It was so great to just watch him play. He seems to love it so much. This was an awesome show."

"If you have never seen Jonny Lang you are missing one of the true masters of the Ax. One of the highlights was his rendition of Stevie Wonder's hit 'Living For the City.' Stevie would have been proud."

    Jonny pegged it!

by Lisainwashington on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

What a great show! Jonny Lang amazes me in how much emotion and passion he demonstrates in his music. I do wish he played a little longer and the pick-up band a little less. It also would have been nice to hear some of his older stuff like Rack 'em up.

    Jonny Lang was disappointing

by Beanman on 7/17/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle Beach

Recording artists such as Jonny Lang, should remember who it is that supports their careers and how to give their fans what they expect. What their fans expect is to hear the new and the old; if you can't play your popular old music, you will continue to disappoint, as was the case with his current HOB performance. Self indulgent guitar playing and trying to sell his new CD is fine, but not at the expense of his supporters. The truly great performers give it all to their fans, don't forget us next time Jonny !

    Blues done right!

by Lunastargazer on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

Johnny rocked the house - last time at the venue he was really sick and it was a huge disapointment -not that he could help it - But he certainly made up for it this time! So young and talented! Only wished he could have played longer!

    Poor audio

by FanofJonny on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

We could not hear over 90% of the vocals. I know most of Jonny's songs, but could not hear most of the vocals - thinking i will need to see him elsewhere for a good show. It was the venue NOT the artist!

    Jonny Lang is the best

by tootsrider on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

Always fun to watch Jonny! The Tulalip Amphitheater is a great venue, the weather was sunny and warm, the sound was great because there was no wind. Yay!

I could have listened to Jonny play all night.

by JBDeLeo on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

You could not have planned a nicer night in Western Washington, the weather was perfect! The venue was amazing. Jonny is so humble and not afraid to share the stage with the amazing musicians that he put together. The only thing I didn't like is that it actually had to end, I could have listened into the wee hours of the morning. We drove from Eastern Washington to see him. I loved it, he is so talented.

TooSlim and the taildragers were a great opening band for Lang. The two bands complimented each other really well. Just wish Too Slim could have played longer

    Jonny disappointed

by skelly66 on 7/17/09The Tulalip Amphitheatre - Tulalip

For the second time I've seen him at the Tulalip Amphitheater Jonny Lang was not up to his normally high level of performance. His voice sounded strained, he performed mostly songs from his latest (and certainly not greatest) album and his set was very short for the amount paid for the tickets. I have to say that I've seen Jonny several times before and he's almost always flawless, but unfortunately this wasn't one of those times.

I have been listening to Lang for many years now ,he's one of the best gutiar players arounnd. this is the first time i had the chance to see him live. What an experience not only is he great, he's assembled an entire band of awsome players. I will go see him again. In closing i wish he would be a regular at New Orleans jazz fest such as Dave Mathews ,Jazz fest is missing out not inviting Lang

    Only one thing missing...

by jwhitbread on 7/16/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

.....all my favorites. House of Blues New Orleans. How could you go wrong. How about if the artist doesn't play any of the songs that probably first attracted half the crowd to the show. At HOB New Orleans this was a sophisticated music crowd. Great musicians, excellent sound quality, so why not play the songs people want to hear? That strategy has failed more than one artist in the past, and it looks like this lesson won't be learned soon. Don't forget who butters your bread Jonny.

    THE BLUES OF JONNY LANG

by SEACOMAN on 7/16/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle Beach

I HAVE SEEN JONNY LANG MANY TIMES IN VARIOUS VENUES. WHEN WE SAW HIM IN MYRTLE BEACH AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES THIS LAST TIME, I THOUGHT HIS BAND WAS TIGHTER THAN I EVER REMEMBER. I LOVED ALL OF HIS UPTEMPO SELECTIONS, BUT I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT SOME OF THE ACOUSTIC NUMBERS. OVERALL IT WAS A VERY SATISFYING PERFORMANCE AND I WOULD GO SEE HIM YET AGAIN.

by jsd1031 on 7/16/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

The concert was amazing and would go again in a heartbeat. Jonny Lang was so down to earth and it was great that he meet with his fans after the preformance for pictures and autographs. Michael Logan have not heard of before but he was amazing to. the guitarist not sure of name was unbelivable when he played.

    Jonny wasn't Jonny

by Watcherofall on 7/16/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle Beach

Husband and I made a 5 hour drive to see Jonny. We were a bit disappointed. Jonny didn't rock the way he did when we saw him in Myrtle 4 or 5 years ago. As my husband said he went to the place he hoped he wouldn't. He was creative in his arrangements but not necessarily for the better.

    OMG!!

by Love711 on 7/16/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

I was very disappointed, first of all this was my first time at House of Blues and I didn't know there were no seats, had to stand with a very packed crowd for hours. The guy (can't remember his name) that came on before Jonny was much better as far as I was concerned and one other in our group thought the same. Jonny did way too much screaming, very loud, lots of 'noise'.
