JONATHAN BUTLER IN CONCERT:
Singer-songwriter Jonathan Butler became an apartheid hero in the ‘70s when his teenage debut single became the first song by a black artist to receive airplay on white radio stations in his native South Africa. Nearly 40 years later, he remains an enduring icon of positive social change through music, gracing audiences with his uplifting voice on inspiring performances of his early South African music and later classics like “Lies.” At his 2013 dates, Butler was joined on stage by his daughter, whose continued presence on tour as a backing singer ensures more spiritually satisfying shows in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in apartheid-era Cape Town, the precocious young Butler showed musical promise from an early age, beginning to tour at just age seven before going on to achieve success as a teen recording idol. After a stint with South African jazz-rock legends Pacific Express, Butler signed to Jive records, relocating to the UK to continue writing and recording. He achieved his biggest international success in 1987 with “Lies,” a Grammy-nominated hit that landed at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Over the course of his decade-spanning career, Butler has released more than 20 albums, exploring a broad range of styles including jazz, pop, and gospel. Following the release of a Christmas album in 2013, Butler is once again the road for a string of highly anticipated North American dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“Musician, singer, songwriter Jonathan Butler provides a solid evening of entertainment featuring songs he has written, many made famous by other stars, but superbly covered by this great artist. His musicianship is stellar and his voice always a delight.”
“If Jonathan Butler ever comes close to your location, you must go. These days his daughter, Jody Butler, is performing with him. She's an unexpected treat.”
It was AWESOME, I had a great time, with great company
The performance was an absolute must-see. Johnathan Butler delivered an exceptional show, performing continuously without any interruptions. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. The show concluded before we realized it. If he comes to your area, don't miss it.
The jazz evening featuring Jonathan Butler and Norman Brown was truly wonderful—I had an amazing time. The combination of the venue, the talented artists, and the lively crowd made it an unforgettable experience. Mable House Amphitheatre will always be my top favorite venue.
I’m a big fan of Jonathan Butler and I try to see him any chance I get.
Enjoyed the Jonathan Butler, Norman Brown, and Ken Ford concert at the Mable House Amphitheater . The atmosphere was perfect for the eclectic style of Jazz performed by all of the artists who performed paired with the Free Parking, ability to bring in drinks and food made it a truly enjoyable evening of entertainment. I highly recommend for anyone seeking a night out with Friends and Family!!
I hope Jonathan Butler continues to come to the Mableton Amphitheatre! He put on a great concert and we had church!
This was my first time seeing these artists and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Nicole Henry, Ken Ford, Norman Brown and Jonathan Butler were all amazing. I would go see them again and I wholeheartedly recommend them.
The night was perfect. The venue is top notch and all the artists brought their A game
Loved the Show, it was just comforting listening to his music
One of best show i have seen years, The sound system at Harrison Opera House along with his voice and music was a great experience, a must attend event.
Everything was great: Great seats Great sound quality Worth every penny I spent. Wonderful evening !!
First time seeing JB in concert. Wife just about lost her mind! Loved it!
Excellent venue to hold a fantastic artist. Wish the show could have been longer.
We came for African jazz, especially songs from one of his most recent albums, Ubuntu. We were ready to leave when he had church up on the stage! I started checking my messages - for over 30 minutes. Not what we paid $100+ to hear! Very disappointed. And the show didn't start at 7:30pm as advertised!
Enjoyed the concert and loved the venue. Excellent concert.
The concert and venue was amazing! Lot's of seating and plenty of vendors. Excellent parking
Great venue. Great music. Great people service. Wonderful experience all the way around.
It was a good concert. The venue was nice and spacious - there were no bad seats. The sound system was on point - not too loud and clear. I would go back again.
Our time with Johnathan was cut way short due to the Audio Sound issue the first 25 minutes of his performance. Disappointing
All 3 acts at the concert were excellent, as was the venue (Mable House Barnes Amphitheater). It was 3 1/2 hours of first class entertainment. The only slight glitch was that Jonathan Butler's microphone wasn't working properly and it was a bit difficult to hear him above his musicians and vocalist.
