John Williams was amazing!
by gemsgemsgems on 9/7/16Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodDavid Newman was the opener for this show, he is a great conductor and had the LA Philharmonic perform some famous pieces from The Godfather, Forrest Gump and even the first 10 minutes of Star Trek: Into Darkness while the film played. John Williams had the stage for the second half of the show and this year he mostly did music from The Force Awakens, but threw in some favorites from previous Star Wars films, Harry Potter, ET, and Superman. It was also nice to have him speak about some of his compositions in between songs too so we were able to gain some insight into his process. The only bad part was the worst people I have ever encountered at a public event that sat next to and behind me. They did not stop talking or singing along to the music (despite them being instrumentals), and often they would just be incessantly screaming. I wanted to kick them down the flight of stairs just next to my aisle.
