    John Williams was amazing!

by gemsgemsgems on 9/7/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

David Newman was the opener for this show, he is a great conductor and had the LA Philharmonic perform some famous pieces from The Godfather, Forrest Gump and even the first 10 minutes of Star Trek: Into Darkness while the film played. John Williams had the stage for the second half of the show and this year he mostly did music from The Force Awakens, but threw in some favorites from previous Star Wars films, Harry Potter, ET, and Superman. It was also nice to have him speak about some of his compositions in between songs too so we were able to gain some insight into his process. The only bad part was the worst people I have ever encountered at a public event that sat next to and behind me. They did not stop talking or singing along to the music (despite them being instrumentals), and often they would just be incessantly screaming. I wanted to kick them down the flight of stairs just next to my aisle.

    An evening with John Williams

    by jovigirl49 on 9/7/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

As usual Mr Williams provided the Hollywoodbowl audience a wonderful evening of music. The Los Angeles Philharmonic provided the music while John Williams provided the direction. We have been going to see him at the Bowl for the 7 years, and have never been dissapointed.

    Cannot beat Williams

by Infantryman on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Movie music is one of our favorite genre. This show had not only Williams but David Newman and did more than just Williams' music. It honored Paramount Studios which included the incredible Star Trek movies. Would really like to experience it again.

    FANTASTIC!!!

    by Sugar25 on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

If I could go back for an encore, I would. The performance by John Williams and David Newman was spectacular. Looking around in the audience and seeing the multi-color light sabers swing to the music blew me away. What an experience! Highly recommended!

John Williams and Mr. Newman ROCKED

by InAWEoftheMASTER on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This was an amazing show, well thought out and enjoyed the introductions to the pieces and anecdotes were the best! I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend this masterful performance and look forward to next year. John Williams is beyond words.... And Mr. Newman was fantastic. How wonderful that the son of Mr. William's mentor was able to conduct in the same performance.

Maestro of the Movies was outstanding!

by Anonymous on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The concert was like being at the movies and listening to the soundtracks, except it was live and real people were playing these amazing songs. It was truly an experience.

    by NatJ1 on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I have attended this concert every year it has been put on for the last 7 years and am never disappointed! John Williams always tells you some information about how he wrote a song or a behind the scenes story that are always entertaining. This year again, he didn't disappoint!

Basically the Greatest Show You Will Ever Go To

    by Alc12 on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Flew out from Atlanta just to be able to see the show. It was spectacular. By far one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. It was so great that I got last minute tickets for the next night's showing! Do yourself a favor and go to this concert.

    John Williams Maestro of Movies

    by Kikis76 on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This was my first John Williams concert and I loved it! Actually, I loved the second half of the show. The first half was very nice, but it didn't have much to do with John's music. He has to cram as much as he could into the second half. He has enough music in his repertoire to fill the entire show. Missed some Jurassic Park and some Indy. I would have given a five, but we sat in front of two very loud rows and unfortunately made it very uncomfortable.

    Amazing!

by Tilliepie on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

And not at all surprise. The man is truly a master. He's wonderful to watch interacting with the orchestra and listen to when he interacts with the audience. He still has a spring in his step and, definitely, a song in his heart - or two or three. How lucky are we that he shares! David Newman was the first half with a "Salute to Paramount." He talked a good bit when we'd rather listen to music. But we respected hearing his lifetime connection with Williams. While the Paramount salute was nice we would have rather seen Newman conducting Williams' music so it would truly be a night with John Williams. Williams NEVER disappoints. We've seen him before and hope to again.

    A little disappointed

by Highlighters on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

We have been to this event many times and always loved it. However, this time, the show started with the first hour with David Newman. Hes good, but not what we came for. So the first hour was a build up to intermission, when John WIlliams did come out. Seating was bad, because there were two people crowded into my seat assignment. That took the attention off the show for me. I let the ushers know, but being that it was a sold out event, there was nothing they can do.

    John Williams is always great

by cladrive on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This is the second time I've seen this show. Saw it the first time 6 years ago. The format is good, with general movie music for the first hour and then John Williams for the second half. John played a lot of star wars, but I would have enjoyed a little more of his other music. He played Superman and ET as well, with two encores.

    John Williams was incredible!

by LovetheWilliams on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The performance of a lifetime for me. Such an icon in movie scores, and an amazing performance by the LA Phil. The Hollywood Bowl was the perfect setting for the performance. Everything came together to make for a wonderful evening.

    An amazing night

by MoreMusicMarie on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I went with my mom and while we were expecting it to be a very chill show, we were pleasantly surprised by how responsive the crowd was. I know a lot of people like Star Wars and Harry Potter but it was something to see all of the lightsabers in the crowd whenever the orchestra played a piece from the movies. I've been wanting to go to this concert for years and I finally went and I can honestly say it was worth the wait.

    Star Wars

    by mariq93 on 9/6/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I enjoyed the show with my boyfriend. I love all John Williams work so it would have been nice to hear more of his scores other then most of the Star Wars scores.
