John Waite was amazing. Fillmore in Charlotte NC is a great venue to see a show.
John Waite sounds as great as he always has. He sang every song a fan would want to hear-and his covers were FIRE! His band was exceptional-among the best I’ve ever heard. Didn’t like his opening act at all - but it was worth an hour of suffering to hear him perform. He was 12/10-two extra points for the beautifully tailored suit!!!
John was fabulous! Entertaining, great voice and engaging with the audience. The band was zippy and great as well! So happy he is touring! Michelle Malone, who opened, was super on her guitar, great voice and Doug on guitar was excellent. Really appreciate him having seating for the show also….The Fillmore needs to have more shows with floor seating!
A great night out to hear an artist who has been in the music world for many years. I loved his performance and style and the band that accompanied him.
Just saw John Waite in Charlotte last night. He was Superb! Wonderful vocals! John did lots of his Babys and Bad English songs as well as his own solo work. Ended the night with a Led Zepplin song and blew the house away! I totally recommend!
John Waite was fantastic! He’s so talented & he’s witty, too! He has so many great songs, I just feel like the show should’ve been longer than 70mins. But I could listen to him for hours! The venue, Charleston Music House is okay. But if someone is tall or stands up in front of you, they completely block your view.
Had a great time!! He played all the songs I've had on my playlist!! His voice sounded amazing!! Very pleasant and overall entertaining!
john waite at charleston music hall was an enjoyable evening. its a small venue which provided a nice intimate experience of live music with one of my favorite musicians. the staff were very friendly and helpful at the venue. it was a great experience!
John Waite gave us a great concert as always. He has superb vocals and is a tremendous song writing talent. He has a wonderful stage presence and sounds the same as he did decades ago. This concert was not promoted nearly enough. We were lucky to see John Waite listed when we checked upcoming shows at this venue. Otherwise, we would have missed it. We hope to see John Waite in concert again in our area in the future.
John Waite was quite good, though his voice was a little strained. The warm up, Michelle Malone, with Doug Kees helping out, was like a fire in a fuel depot, hot.
This was a fantastic show, amazing voice, great band, what tremendous musicians. I have been a Waite fan for years and he did not disappoint! I hope he makes another loop through our area again I would insist every one I know buy tickets. ps - Bowie fan? He is touring with Bowies drummer.
We saw John a couple of years ago opening for Rick Springfield in Raleigh and were blown away by the strength of his voice and stage presence. It was a fabulous show. He was so good that we wanted to see him next time he was close by. We saw him at the House of Blues in Myrtle and he was just as good as we remembered. The only "complaint"was the show was only 70 minutes long. May have been a short set because he was contracted for a charity event. Overall a fabulous show!
Vocally, John Wait still sounds great. His band was very good and was a great show
Although the venue was not a packed house, John Waite and crew still put on a very good performance as if playing to a sold out show. Still has a great and powerful voice (better than Robert Plant on the cover song, by the way ;) ) Great mix of acoustic and full group songs. This is the kind of really enjoyable concert and music performance that the younger pop/dance/electronic/rave/top40 crowd is missing out on. Don't get me wrong, I like everything from country to metal, most everything on the fringes and in between but its a loss to not attend shows like this of long time artists that still are getting play on radio and streaming. John talked to the crowd between songs and made it much more of a personal show, as if playing to a big group of friends. Jokingly would tag him a star because the show was in Oshkosh, WI and he thought/said Milwaukee instead. 50 miles by bus but an entire universe away in mindset of the people.
Enjoyed the performance convienient and inexpensive venue
There were only about 1000 people there and it felt like a private part Johns voice is AMAZING and the band was great. Lots of old favorites from the 80’s. Great venue.
I recently saw John Waite in Kent, Ohio. He was absolutely fabulous! His voice is still as good as ever, and his relationship with the audience was undeniably genuine. I have such a respect for him as a musician and true artist who never compromised himself by selling his soul for the almighty dollar as so many other artists have! I hope to see John again in the near future!
I've been a fan of John Waite since the very first time I heard The Babys back in the late 70's I was lucky enough to see them live when they opened for Styx. I was hooked. John has an amazing voice and the Baby's music was right up my alley, a good mix of hard melodic rock with some really good ballads. Fast forward many years - as often as I can I still go to see him. I'll admit that while his solo stuff is good, as is The Bad English stuff, I really go hoping to hear a bunch of The Babys songs. And luckily he plays enough of them to keep me going back again and again. It's been about 45 years since The Babys first came on the scene, yet his voice is almost as good now as it was back then. He might look a lot different, but he can still belt 'em out. His backing band is great. It's a no frills show, no backup singers or elaborate stage settings. But that's ok, it's all about the music. John is very personable on stage. He comes across as a regular guy who just likes to play music. He tells some short stories and jokes around a bit. On this particular evening, the venue was only about one quarter full. Even with such a small crowd, he put on a great show, and the crowd was very much into it. The sound was amazing!!! To me, that's the most important part of going to see a live show. I always sit just about as far away from the stage as possible, dead center and not near anyone else if at all possible. Even if it means sitting in the very last row. The sound is usually best the further from the stage you are, depending on the size of the venue of course. Better mix. And with no one else around, I don't have to put up with people talking and disrupting my concert experience. The set list that night was really good, with a mix of some of The Babys songs, Bad English songs and of course some of his solo stuff. He even threw in covers of All Along The Watchtower and Whole Lotta Love. As long as he continues to tour, I'll continue to go see him.
Fabulous show!! John gets better and better every time we see him!!
Great concert but the venue never mentioned it was an outside event. I was led to believe as many other concert goers that it was inside the Ontario Toyota arena not outside. Lots of people without jackets and considering most of John Waite fans are over 55 lack of seating and standing on concrete for 2 1/2 hours is no fun.
