  • John rocked!!

    by Waiter30 on 7/28/14Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs - Wilkes-BarreRating: 5 out of 5

As a long time fan of John Waite I left the show smiling ear to ear! He sang a great variety of his songs, was very energetic and interacted well with the audience. Not to mention he has an awesome stage presence and his voice was spot on! If you are thinking about seeing him you absolutely should! You will not be disappointed!

  • LOVED John Waite!!!

by VeeTee1 on 7/13/13The Canyon Club - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I saw John Waite a little over 3 months ago. John was amazing. I loved his music in the 70's and 80's. I bought his Rough & Tumble CD after the concert and have not stopped listening to it since. I can't believe his CD has been out for 2 yrs and I have just started listening to it. I must say ... I'm hooked all over again. His songs "Evil", "Skyward", "Better Off Gone" and "If You Ever Get Lonely" are some of my favorites. Now I'm waiting for his next concert so I can sing along to his new stuff. Can't wait to see him again.

  • I just don't know why he wouldn't play more

by dpcannon on 6/14/13San Diego County Fair - Del MarRating: 2 out of 5

One of the reviewers below gave a lot of detail about the concert. And it's true that his guitarist rocks, and it's true he did a acapella version of “When I See You Smile”. And it certainly was one of the high points. Another high point was Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin as the encore. It's very fitting because that guitarist is a very good guitarist and can do Jimmy Page justice. But I do want to point out that he played a number of new songs. I struggle with artists playing their new albums at the mercy of the audience. We listened to him. 30 to 40 years ago. I probably have a small chance of listening to his new music today. And I think that's the reason why he didn't play a second encore-- we just could not get excited enough for him (it seemed). They even set up the stage with the additional guitar. And pulled it back. He was probably going to play “Isn't it Time”. How disappointing. I'm not saying he didn't play a handful of songs. He did. But the concert was about one hour and 20 min. long. As he was singing "Missing You" it was not on the same beat of the music and was about a half second slow for every word. That was frustrating too. And he was so excited that we were excited about that song. I just don't know why he wouldn't play more of the music that we know him by. And the concert was free-- but I don't know that I would go see him again for free. That's quite a statement but not everyone felt as I did. Many liked it.

  • Incredible

by kidrockroxxme on 4/5/13The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I'm going to leave the venue out of this. Having loved John Waite since the Baby's, yet never seeing him live, I was so excited for this....and John did not disappoint!! Pitch perfect, band was awesome, I even got teary when he sang "Missing You"....didn't even see that one coming....although he did dedicate it to his tailor! You can tell he is as real as it get's. He is just great!!! (and hasn't age a bit!!!)

  • John Waite was OK

by jkacman on 4/1/13The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 3 out of 5

Came onto stage with a great amount of energy and tried to continue it through his show, but at times I thought he fell short The only problem I had was when he took a break in the middle ans the fact he only played for little over an hour Whats up with that

  • John Waite is the REAL DEAL!!!

    by GoddessLove1111 on 3/31/13The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I have only seen John Waite in concert once, and although I have admired his music since the 70's and 80's (think Bad English and Babys, in addition to his solo work), I had never really seen him play until last Fall. When the opportunity came to see him at the Canyon Club I jumped at the chance. John's show was EVERYTHING and MORE that I hoped it would be. The rocking guitars of Shaun Hague on All Along the Watchtower was just the beginning to an Amazing and Wonderful night! Rondo's drum solo was beyond compare, along with the rockin thumpin bass of Tim Hogan, Debby Holiday's backing vocals on Everytime I Think of You (as well as all the other songs) were Awesome, and peppered throughout the night were songs ranging from ballads to the heaviest rock. The absolute HIGH Point of the night was John's ACAPELLA (yes acapella, meaning NO MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT at ALL) version of When I See You Smile. WOW!!!! John's vocals were Stellar, on point and beyond Amazing! He proved in that second what a REAL singer/musician lives, which is MUSIC ITSELF!! 90% of the 'musicians' today could NEVER even ATTEMPT singing without auto-tune, much less acapella in a concert setting. John Waite is the REAL DEAL!!! Music at it's finest! If you have the chance to catch him live, do yourself a favor and DO IT!! You will be glad you did!

  • john waite

    by jneckbrace on 3/26/13Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

this was a great show , john waite was always on the "bucket list" of bands . he did not disappoint played all the the good songs and even a led zep song! top notch. to top it off John showed he was a class act and right as the lights went up after the show . he made his way from the stage to the exit to greet the fans and sign autographs... great show!!

  • What a voice!

    by JKenmore on 3/11/13Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! John Waite sounded as good as ever! Great band behind him and everybody in the crowd wanted them to play longer. John seemed to be in a great mood and was joking with the crowd and band. Loved the crowd singalong to When I See You Smile. Nicely done Mr. Waite!

  • See him every chance you get

    by NumberSix on 3/10/13Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen John Waite several times through the years. He's been great every time, and this was no exception. At over 60, his voice sounds as good as ever. Lots of great rockers with a few candles on the cake have lost their highs, or their rock "screams", Not John, as was demonstrated near the end of the evening when he did an awesome version of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love." Robert Plant can't do that song justice any more, but Waite's version was as screamin' as Plant in his prime. If you are thinking about seeing him, do it. It'll be worth it! I rated it four stars instead of five only because five is termed "amazing" by Tickemaster, and though the show was excellent, it was not quite "amazing."

  • Waite STILL rocks

    by snapnasty on 3/10/13Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, John Waite still belts out his songs with youthful exuberance. Strong band behind him. Very polished show.

  • John Waite still rocks!

This man can still rock the house. Great crowd and the ballroom was just the right size.

  • For the price it was nice...

    by TBird37 on 3/9/13Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoy most genres of music...what made this an enjoyable evening was the size of the venue, the proximity to musicians and comfortable seating. I enjoyed the set more as the evening progressed. Most of us that were there were John Waite diehards... so to judge the vocals would be sacrilegious. I hoped for more of a personal connection with the audience... it would have been nice to have been brought up to speed with the life and future of John... but he is somewhat reserved. He is a solid songwrier... to hear what inspired his writings would have been cool. The fans of this age group are "family"... therefore, tell the story... and come out and play the last lick when everyone is on their feet beckoning for the return... nice way to homor the diehards...

  • Good and Bad (English)

by TestostOrama on 4/13/12The Glass Cactus - GrapevineRating: 2 out of 5

This review is waaaay over due. Saw Johnny a few months ago, here in Dallas. His singing and the band were Great! But... His performance Sucked! He made absolutely Zero attempt to communicate with the audience at all. He was twitchie and seemed like he was just trying to plow through his set list and get the hell off the stage. I saw Roger Daltry a few nights before...and he would take breaks and talk to the audience...just like an old friend...well....ya...like for 40 years! Normally JW has a meet a greet afterwards at a merch table...Nope...his band mingled for a while...but Mr. Waite was a No Show. Maybe Johnny was just having a bad night...or is just too cool But, not as cool as Roger Daltry

  • by herkysgurl on 3/26/12Marquee 15 - CoronaRating: 4 out of 5

John Waite was great. I wish the tickets would have stated when the show started. They showed 6pm but show started much later. There were 2 opening acts but weren't disclosed on the tickets. I didn't realize that you had to make reservations to eat in order to get a seat. So we had to stand on the side behind the seating.

  • As always, fabulous!

by MassachusettsGal on 2/18/12Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

John and his band mix his past and present music into a fabulous show. The only part that was missing from this show was his drummer but the blending of the other's guitars and John's voice makes for an unforgettable experience.

  • what an amazing show .. great venue
