Previous tours, which turned into award-winning specials, include the 2018 Emmy-winning Kid Gorgeous, 2015's The Comeback Kid, which The AV Club called the "best hour of his career," and 2012's New In Town, which saw Entertainment Weekly hailing him as "one of the best stand-up comics alive."

Mulaney has hosted Saturday Night Live six times. He was a writer for the show starting in 2008, where he created memorable characters such as 'Stefon' with Bill Hader and worked with hundreds of hosts on their monologues. He has written and appeared in IFC's Documentary Now! and Netflix's Big Mouth, in which he voices the character of Andrew. In December 2019, the critically acclaimed Emmy-nominated musical variety special John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix. He also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit Oh, Hello On Broadway, written and performed alongside his long-time friend Nick Kroll. • Not as funny as usual

by Heather G on 7/16/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 3 out of 5

I love John Mulaney. He is my favorite comedian and I could laugh at anything he says, but I saw him a couple months ago upstate New York and this was the same set he did then so I was slightly disappointed, and it was also about how old people or his parents should be dead by now… I didn’t find that funny.

  • Real funny John:

The part about your bus driver was very cinematic. I feel like I saw a movie when I think back on it.

  • Never stopped laughing

by Jill on 5/8/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

There’s a reason why David Letterman is in awe of John Mulaney, it’s because he’s awesome! We laughed the entire time. Just go see him now!

  • so late

    by cleo99 on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

John Mahoney was terrific, as always. However the experience was unexpectedly fraught. I go to the Hollywood Bowl several times a year; they NEVER start late. In this case, over half an hour late with no explanation on a particularly cold evening. The lack of phone use meant it was difficult for my partner and I to find each other when we were separated by the crowd. I've been to sold out shows at the Bowl before, including last year, but this was really crowded. Why not start on time? seriously

  • John was good but the other two were irritating

by Jackie on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

We came to see John Mulaney because he is so talented, whimsical and funny. Nick Kroll may be his friend, but he is not funny and was painful to listen to - couldn't wait for him to be off the stage. Moving forward, John should just do the show alone and not have the other two "warm up"individuals trying to perform comedy. The show would have been much better if it was only John Mulaney.

  • John Mulaney ATE

He looks so good and he did such an amazing job. I’ve always liked John and I think he was incredible, the bowl was PACKED.

  • Not the usual fun time at the Hollywood Bowl

by Disappointed on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 1 out of 5

No liquids of any kind at a place where people are used to bringing full on picnics. Must say I was very disappointed. It was not as fun as it usually is. The usual come with a bottle of wine, catch up with friends, enjoy a picnic, see a good show. This was not that. I understand it is a lease event and as such there are different rules so they can squeeze every dollar out of it but being hounded for needing hot water for a cup of tea and being told it would cost you 5dollars when you have the cup and the tea bag was just fun sucking (I know first world problems). Next time I will pass on the lease events and see the comedians at a more traditional venue. I guess Hollywood Bowl should be saved for the traditional events which are more fun than this was. Oh John was funny, so there was that. Would have been funnier if I enjoyed my picnic more. Thanks

by Trojaneen on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

John’s story telling and relatability make for a great evening of laughter. He manages to interweave poignancy, drama and humor with the right amount of flair. It was a great night and we are thrilled to have seen him in person. Thanks John!

  • A Mixed Bag

by Cutro on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

The good: John Mulaney’s show was amazing, he’s one of my fav comedians. We took the shuttle bus from Torrance and it was totally worth it. Such an easy trip. The Bowl venue is great. Security was easy and the food at Anne’s Wine Bar was pretty good. Sound was excellent. The not-so-good: If you are sitting in section F (or above) you are pretty much watching one of the video screens all evening, otherwise you couldn’t tell who was on stage. Way different experience than watching a band play at the Bowl at the same seat location. They changed the Torrance bus location without telling bus ticket holders! We went to the “old” location and were standing around waiting. No signs posted about the change. A random person came by and told the 10 people that were waiting. The pickup location changed 2 weeks ago. Nothing on electronic ticket shows the new spot. Grrrr…

  • Excellent!

by LAMark on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Mulaney is a great comedian and kept us laughing through the whole performance. He is an excellent writer and my wife and I would see Jonh Mulaney again in a heartbeat!

  • Good show

Enjoyed the show. Inciteful, hilarious, intelligent and revealing.

  • Laughed so hard my face hurt

by Brian on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

What I love about John is that he finds humor in pain. He is very open about his recovery and not afraid to joke about it. You almost feel guilty doing so, but he is so damn funny!

  • What a mess

by Cc on 5/7/24Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

I have been to his last show in 2022. I have not experienced the messy entry and exit last time . The confusion with the signs and herds of people walking and almost tripping is very discerning. Not a great experience at Hollywood Bowl. The show was great with Mulaney but not the two opening acts

  • Amazing at Meriweather Baby J

    by Vikki W on 4/30/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Seeing John Mulaney has been on my stand up comedian bucket list since forever. So far I’ve seen Josh Wolf, Daniel Tosh twice, Chelsea Handler and finally saw John Mulaney. It’s an outdoor venue so we sprawled out on a blanket on a summers evening and laughed beginning to end. His shows on the road had the same energy and entertaining moments as the live specials. I’ll see him again no question anytime he comes around. My daughter also thinks he’s the funniest man in the world after she snuck in while we were watching. Now when her father wears his khakis she giggles and yells “Daddy khaki pants!” She also heard his bit about assemblies at school and said “Yea that’s pretty on point.” lol.

  • Hilarious

I laughed the entire time! His comedy is clever and so well delivered.

  • Not bad. Expected more

by MJA on 4/24/24The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

There were some funny moments. John reached out to a person in the front row who happened to be a friend of mine. It was great. Lots of laughs. Not quite funny towards the end. I realize we were probably the last show or close to it. Truthfully, I'm more irritated that my choices of seats were slim on Ticketmaster and wondering if it's because other vendors but up all the tickets.
